GIG (Guys In Groove)

It was another exciting year for GIG.

This year we recruited some members from last year’s BIG (Boys in Groove) and a greater number of aboriginal students. We all looked forward to dancing well again at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival… and were not disappointed. The theme this year was ‘In Their Element.’ Our dance featured different movement sequences reflecting earth, wind, water, and fire. With Ms Bott’s help, we worked collaboratively to put the dance together. This year our costumes were very different … and more effective. Our props included a large light box covered in Lycra, used to create shapes and silhouettes. This year’s highlight was the performance at Burswood on Thursday, 19 August. The atmosphere was unbelievable. There were both primary and secondary schools competing this year and the standard was much higher. However, we received an outstanding result again. The Trinity boys have really earned a reputation for our dance! For the past two years, I have been involved in GIG. I have loved it because I had the opportunity to dance. All of us showed the others that “boys have the moves!” I would like to thank the boys for being there every Monday morning for practice and Ms Bott for putting up with us. I hope to see the dance continuing in years to come and that more boys join GIG next year. You don’t know what you’re missing! I wish GIG the best for the future.
