The 2004 Hockey season has proven to be encouraging across all year groups.
The First XI team was a well balanced side which stayed competitive for most games. The highlights included a 3-0 win against Aquinas with Conor Breheny scoring two goals and a 2-2 draw with Wesley in a close fought tussle. The defence was well led by Steven Rimmer and Ben Creighton who have started a formidable defensive combination. They combined well to keep the team in the contest on several occasions
The midfield brigade worked hard all season. Team captain Andrew Hooper displayed his superior possession skills on many occasions and proved difficult for the opposition to counter. Our forward line created plenty of chances throughout the year but was unable to capitalise in the circle. Andrew McIntyre had a memorable game against Aquinas and continued to develop. Gerald Lillywhite played a superb role at inside right. Luke Ward also had a good year playing as a striker. The Second XI had one of their best seasons for many years. The team was ably led by James Dryka and Matthew Hodgson and proved extremely competitive. Many games were decided by a single goal. The spirit shown by this team was outstanding. Special congratulations to Liam Kennedy on his tireless efforts which won him the service and contribution award in a team that had many solid contributors. The Third XI also had some pleasing results during the season. The squad worked hard on their fitness, courtesy of coaches Shane Ogilvie and Chris Groves. This paid off with some great performances towards the end of the season.
The Year 10 hockey teams had a mixed season. The team played in some fantastic wins, some gallant losses and on the whole all members had shown improvement in their hockey skills and abilities. The 9 As had a promising season and displayed great improvement with every game. Andre Di Filipo performed well throughout the season and was ably supported by Dean Savage-Morton, Brenton Bush and goal keeper James Dryka. The 9 Bs had a rapidly improving season and recorded four wins and two draws. Henry Nguyen and Daniel Cichy proved to be the back bone of the team.
The Year 8 As had a very successful season and remained undefeated.
