Student Roll Call

The Fair has come and gone. What a fantastic day! Many hours of hard work were contributed by a dedicated group of people that made up the Organising Committee who started meeting on a regular basis in February. I sincerely thank this group for their suggestions, help and friendship. The next step was to find Supervisors for the different Fair areas. Some areas were easier to fill than others and after numerous phone calls, gentle persuasion and outright bribery these positions were filled, one by a parent who does not even have a son at the school. Their help was greatly appreciated. It was a huge undertaking to find volunteers to fill the position of Stall Manager for well over fifty different stalls. There were at least ten stalls that did not happen because no one could run them. Those stalls would have would have added quite substantially to the overall total. On the day of the Fair we had in excess of three hundred helpers and without their help we would not have been able to hold this event. I thank these volunteers.

The generosity of the many companies, families and individuals who donated goods and services was invaluable. As usual the Trinity staff and students were generous with their time and help. To run and set up a Fair requires a huge amount of effort from many people and the question is often raised about the viability of such a project. Besides raising extra capital for the school, I feel the day also offers a great deal more. It is an opportunity for the entire school community to come together for a day of fun and friendship. An event like this also provides a chance to meet people you otherwise would not meet and the chance to showcase the spirit of Trinity College. I thoroughly enjoyed coordinating the Fair and urge the entire school community to get behind the next one.
