POSTURE TIPS AND REMINDERS

Remember to ‘Shine Your Light’ to help lift the chest and maintain the natural curves of the spine

Avoid slumping into a forward head posture while studying. Notice that ears sit above the shoulders, try drawing in the chin and place the tongue to soft palate to activate deep neck stabilising muscles

TRY RESTING YOUR ARMS

Try pushing your keyboard and mouse back from the edge, and resting your forearms on the desk.

You might need to adjust your chair height so you’re not bending forward or raising your shoulders

This helps reduce neck, shoulder, arm and wrist tension especially well, but isn’t to everyone’s taste, especially if you are used to having the keyboard close.

PLAY WITH YOUR SCREEN POSITION

Try top of screen at eye level as a rough rule of thumb, you might like slightly higher or lower

Don’t be afraid to use books as an inexpensive monitor raiser. Consider a USB keyboard and mouse for laptops at a home study desk.

The screen distance can be estimated by reaching to finger-tip level while resting in your chair Wearing glasses can change the ideal distance so try different positions
