WELCOME to our summer brochure! Looking through our new brochure will get you in the mood for a season of great drama, music and a host of live performances. Drama, from the Library Theatre, with their production of John Godber’s well known play ‘Happy Jack’, inspired by the playwrights own Grandparents. Swinging music, as we welcome back ‘King Pleasure and the Biscuits Boys’- an evening not to be missed and August sees our first Silver Screen & Cult Classic Film Festival, from iconic Citizen Kane to Pulp Fiction and Brazil! Pick up a festival flyer so you don’t miss any of these iconic films. Regular events include our growing Lunchtime Literature lectures with Dr Jane MacKay, and The HOOT Comedy Club which is always guaranteed to raise a smile! Even though summer has only really just started we are already thinking about Christmas and our 2010 Pantomime. This year we welcome Yellow Brick Road’s production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ a fantastic family show full of stunning special effects and lots and lots of fun. King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys King Pleasure & the Biscuit Boys are more than just the world’s greatest swing band, they are an institution! The John Coupland Hospital Charities Fund is pleased once more to welcome the Lincolnshire Hospital Band to the Trinity Arts Centre. The band itself has described the venue as “wonderful”, which when added to their musical delivery, will provide everyone with a festival of the best of British band music. The band travels all over the eastern region, and is popular with an immense range of audiences. Please give them a rapturous welcome to our town, in support of our Hospital. Danny Bryant’s Redeye Band Danny Bryant was born in Hertfordshire England in July 1980. First hailed as a ‘young guitar prodigy’ he began playing guitar aged 15, turning professional just three years later, and in the last decade has paid his dues clocking up endless miles of travelling and approximately two thousand shows in many countries around the world. The Dragons Daughter Blunderbus Theatre Company Blunderbus Theatre Company are proud to present The Dragon’s Daughter, a magical tale of adventure and friendship that will appeal to the child within everyone! Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a tiny village nestled in the shadow of a great mountain. Perched at the top of the mountain, lived a fire-breathing dragon. In the village below, a lonely little boy called Hans spent his days imagining the most fantastic adventures. He would pretend to fight scary monsters, search for sunken treasure, and slay fairytale dragons. Then one starry night, a tiny ball of light fell from the sky, crashing to the ground with a silent thud, and there, lost in the darkness, was a real-life baby dragon. Now began the adventure of a lifetime; could Hans return his newfound friend to her mother before it was too late, or would Dotty the baby dragon perish in the darkness? With bewitching music and beautiful hand- carved puppets this is a funny and moving story about a brave little boy and a scared little dragon that grow to become the very best of friends. Richard Digence

Folk comedian Digance has been BAFTA nominated, supported Steve Martin and Robin Williams, recently won a Gold Award from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters and played to half a million people at Knebworth. Richard was also voted by The Sunday People as one of the ‘Magnificent Seven of Comedy’, alongside Tommy Cooper and Bob Monkhouse. It’s on stage that Digance is happiest, armed with just his wit and a guitar. Trinity Arts Centre are thrilled to host this household name who has recently returned to his folk club roots. THE FLEXIBLE LEARNING PROGRAM

A WIDER AIR SINGING WORKSHOPS

The program is an alternative education provided by Trent Valley Academy as a preventative measure for the students who are at risk of exclusion. We aim to provide quality offsite provision, in academic and vocational qualifications as well as support for social, emotional and health related issues. We work together with the school and students, in a more relaxed atmosphere, outside of the classroom and aim to give this group of students the same opportunities to further their learning when they leave school and also prepare them for working life.

Come and join these creative and friendly singing sessions for ages 14+ and all abilities here at Trinity Arts Centre.

The students are keen to involve themselves in the community in a positive way by accessing and working within the Trinity Arts centre.

Please call the secretary for more information. The Saturday sessions are from 10am 12 noon on October 9th, November 6th and December 4th.

ACT NOW! Meeting on Mondays 6-8pm Act Now is an established drama group for adults with learning disabilities currently in it’s 10th year. The group works on short plays and performs them through the year at the Arts Centre. For further information contact the Box Office. 01427 676655.

KIDS CLUB Trinity’s very own film club showing a variety of kids’ movies on one Saturday per month (with extra screenings during the holidays). Joining fees are just £2 for a child and £5 for a family. Members will pay just £1.50 per child and £2.50 for adults for every Kids Club movie. The Centre has a 200-seater Auditorium with slide and film capabilities, PA system, disabled access to front of Auditorium and induction loop for hearing aid uses. OHP and flip charts by arrangement. If you wish to hire our facilities, you are welcome to use your own caterers – arrangements to be agreed. Our licensed bar is also available. Wheelchair spaces are available with adjoining spaces for escorts to sit if required. The upper rows of the auditorium are regrettably not accessible by ramp. Wheelchair access is available to the stage. The Auditorium has an induction loop. Language Line interpreting and translation service is available if required.
