s ilhas do Pico e do Faial recebem no próximo mês de maio a reunião da Assembleia das Regiões Vitícolas da Europa (AREV) que envolverá mais de uma centena participantes de vários países. A AREV é uma associação representativa do setor vitivinícola, que conta com 75 regiões associadas, sendo os Açores sócios efetivos há 20 anos. he islands of Pico and Faial will host a meeting of the Assembly of European Wine Regions (AREV) in May, with more than 100 participants from various countries expected. AREV is a representative association of the wine sector with 75 associated regions. The Azores have been members for 20 years. The meeting will be an opportunity to promote Azorean wine while recognizing the work that has been undertaken in the development of winemaking, especially in Pico, where nearly 800 hectares of abandoned vineyards
desenvolvimento da vitivinicultura, sobretudo no Pico, onde nos últimos cinco anos foram reabilitados e preservados quase 800 hectares de vinhas abandonadas registando-se um aumento de 200 para cerca de 1 000 hectares de vinhas certificadas em produção. No âmbito deste processo os produtores beneficiaram ao abrigo do programa VITIS de 21 milhões de euros. O encontro permitirá assim dar visibilidade a todo o trabalho que tem sido feito na Região ao nível da recuperação de vinhas abandonadas.

have been rehabilitated and preserved in the last five years, an increase of 200 hectares for about 1,000 hectares of certified vineyards in production. Wine producers have benefited from 21 million euros in financial support under the VITIS program, which supports restructuring and conversion of vineyards. The meeting will also give visibility to all the work that has been done in the Region in the recovery of abandoned vineyards.
