revista Forbes, na sua edição eletrónica, publicou um artigo dedicado o Pico, com o título “Há uma ilha de vinho no meio do Atlântico” no qual é recordada um pouco da história do vinho do Pico e destacado o desenvolvimento a que se tem assistido, nos últimos anos, no campo da produção e comercialização do vinho com selo picoense. Depois do auge da produção nos séculos 17 e 18, marcado pela exportação de grandes quantidades de vinho, assistiu-se à quase
extinção, devido à filoxera mas Tom Mullen, no texto que assina, sublinha o crescimento, nos Açores, da área cultivada com vinha que, nos últimos anos, duplicou na região, com a maior parte a registar-se no Pico. Esse desenvolvimento, refere, tem sido fortemente incentivado tanto ao nível europeu como ao nível regional, pelo executivo açoriano e não esquece a classificação de Património da Humanidade pela UNESCO e as castas que aqui são produzidas.

orbes magazine recently published an article in its electronic edition dedicated to Pico, titled “There is an island of wine in the middle of the Atlantic”. The article highlights some of the history of Pico wine and its development over the years in terms of production and commercialization. After a peak in production in the 17th and 18th centuries, marked by the export of large quantities of wine, the phylloxera aphid made wine production almost extinct. But writer Tom Mullen emphasized the growth in the
Azores of cultivated areas, which in recent years have doubled in the region, mainly in Pico. This development, he says, has been strongly encouraged both at the European level and at the regional level by the Azorean executive, also recognizing the classification of World Heritage by UNESCO and the varieties that are produced here.
