Barrow Neurological Institute Expands With Innovative “Neuroplex” Building Barrow Neurological Institute will break ground this year on a new building on the St. Joseph’s campus. “This facility, known as the ’Neuroplex,’ will change the environment in which our team works, create a portal for destination patients and expand our space for research,” notes Dr. Michael Lawton, President and CEO, Barrow Neurological Institute. Barrow is known for accepting challenges, rejecting norms and pushing boundaries when it comes to neuroscience treatment, research and training. Barrow is recognized annually as a top neuroscience center in the country by US News & World Report. Dr. Lawton, as part of his Barrow 3.0 strategic plan, continues this standard of excellence with the addition of the innovative new Neuroplex.
Dr. Nader Sanai is the Francis and DIonne Najafi Chair for Neurosurgical Oncology at Barrow Neurological Institude. Dr. Sanai is the director of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center, which is leading an innovative, fast-track approach to brain tumor research that personalizes new drug therapies for patients.
By providing researchers with the necessary laboratory space and equipment and creating a centralized portal for patients, the Neuroplex will be the home to new centers of excellence including the Barrow Aneurysm and AVM Research Center and the Barrow Artificial Intelligence Center, transforming the way modern neurosurgery is practiced and allowing Barrow to save even more lives. Dr. Anna Burke is the Karsten Solheim Chair for Dementia at Barrow Neurological Institute. She also serves as the Director of the Alzheimer’s and Memory Disorders Division. She is renowned for providing patient and family-centered care.
