Chris Packham will join Breckland judging panel Organisers have snapped up the services of TV countryside celebrity Chris Packham to help judge the 2011 Breckland Photography Competition – an annual contest that celebrates rural life in the district. Well known and loved as a presenter on countless television shows including the hugely popular Springwatch and Countryfile programmes, Chris Packham is equally well known for his passion for wildlife, conservation and the countryside.

Localism, Community and Environmental Awareness said: “I am delighted that Chris has agreed to help judge the contest this year. The standard of photographs we get in from residents is always high, so I am sure he is going to be impressed. We have already begun to receive entries and I am sure that having such an inspirational judge will get people even more fired up about the competition. The Annual Breckland Photography Competition is open to all Breckland residents and photographs must be taken within the district. All images must be submitted in digital format by the closing deadline of 5pm on Friday 16th September 2011. After the competition winners have been announced, an exhibition of their photographs will tour the five Breckland towns during October and November. This year the focus is on celebrating rural life through four competition categories –

As a professional wildlife photographer who also trained as a wildlife film cameraman he is well qualified to judge the Breckland contest. Chris Packham said: “The real challenge will be to capture the spirit of the district. Breckland is a beautiful and diverse part of Norfolk but to capture its essence in a picture requires an original and creative eye backed up by a good understanding of photographic techniques.
