Safety equipment is placed and issued for a person’s protection and safety If you remove, deface, or tamper with safety device’s or equipment you may be in breach of legislation, and you may inadvertently cause an injury to one of your workmates.

If you could improve on safety equipment, please complete an SRF and forward it to you direct line manager with the improvement suggestion.

VESSEL ACCESS AND EGRESS •

A hazard was identified whilst trying to lift and manoeuvre shore based gangways onto vessels for relocation to other wharf’s A cargo ramp was built, however it was not fit for purpose, so it was sent to BSY for refurbishment, the new and improved ramp is now in service - pictured right.

• When moving shore based gangways from one location to another please coordinate this activity through the Team Leader and utilize the Cargo Ramp for ease and safety • The cargo ramp has been left at CQ on J5 east pontoon behind the big rubbish bin enclosure.

• Please ensure you return it after use.

Security update: What Is A White Level Inspection A white level inspection is an inspection that is conducted by all staff as we go about a daily routine.

We should all be inspecting our workplaces for any article that may appear to be unusual, suspicious or unable to be accounted for.

White level inspections are conducted so we can be confident that the workplace is safe.

When is a White Level Inspection Conducted? ➢ Each day upon arrival at work / at the commencement of shift. ➢ On a random basis, as directed by the Master or relevant Manager. ➢ At least every two (2) hours. ➢ At the end of every trip.

How is a White Level Inspections Conducted? ➢ To ensure you capture all areas in a systemic manner, look low, look middle, look high while scanning left to right, then right to left. ➢ Conduct a visual check of the route to your work area and your workstation. Remember to check all passenger areas. ➢ In addition to specific work areas, inspect any other inspection areas that have been assigned. ➢ Once the inspection has been completed, report to the Master. Normal duties may then be resumed.
