Train SVQ/NVQs Explained If you hold a CPCS or NPORS (Red) Trained Operator card, you must complete a related S/NVQ before the expiry of your (Red) Trained Operator card. The completion of the related S/NVQ is a mandatory requirement in order to obtain and progress to the (Blue) Competent Operator card for CPCS and NPORS. Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) are based upon national standards and provide evidence that learners can do their jobs well. Studied in the workplace, in college or with training providers, SVQs are available in many subject areas.

An SVQ is a certificate of vocational education in Scotland and available to people of all ages. SVQs are developed by Sector Skills Councils, in partnership with industry and awarding bodies and are made up of units derived from National Occupational Standards (NOS).
