THE APPRENTICESHIP LEVY AND GOVERNMENT REFORMS The Government reforms will allow any employee to undertake an Apprenticeship at the same or lower level to acquire substantive new skills. This means that existing staff members can apply for an Apprenticeship with Training 2000. The way the Apprenticeship is funded will depend on whether you are a Levy or NonLevy paying business:
LEVY PAYING BUSINESSES Employers whose pay bill is greater than £3 million will have to pay the Levy. The Levy is charged at 0.5% of employers pay bill and paid to HMRC through PAYE process alongside tax and NIC
NON-LEVY PAYING Those businesses with an annual pay bill less than the £3 million threshold, that have over 50 employees, or businesses that have used their levy pot, will have to make a contribution of 10% towards the cost of Apprenticeships.
There is also an additiona l incentiv e for the h iring of 16 – 18 y ear old Apprentic s onto an eship of
£1000
for Levy and Non -Levy paying e mployers
EMPLOYERS WITH FEWER THAN 50 EMPLOYEES will have 100% of the training and assessment costs covered when training a 16-18 year old (or 1924 year old formerly in care or has a Local Authority Education, Health and Care plan).
Training 2000 will offer you help and guidance with the reforms tailored to your businesses individual needs. For more information please visit our website www.training2000.co.uk/reform, call us on 01254 54659 to speak to our reforms expert or email reform@t2000.co.uk.
10
FOR MORE INFORMATION VISIT www.training2000.co.uk
There is also an additional incentive for the hiring of 1618 year olds onto an apprenticeship of ÂŁ1000 for levy and non-levy paying employers An apprentice is required to spend 20% of their Apprenticeship completing off the job work such as lectures, writing assessments/assignments, simulation exercises, online learning. Shadowing and mentoring within the workplace can also count towards the 20%. This must form part of their working hours.
END-POINT ASSESSMENTS FOR APPRENTICESHIPS All apprentices must undertake an independent endpoint assessment which is a synoptic assessment of the knowledge, skills and behaviours that have been learnt throughout the Apprenticeship. The purpose of the assessment is to make sure the apprentice meets the standard set by employers and are fully competent in the occupation. The end-point assessment must be assessed by a different organisation to the one delivering the training. It is taken by apprentices at the very end of their training. End-point-assessments are graded and an Apprenticeship certificate is only awarded after end-point assessment is successfully completed.

LET US BECOME YOUR TRAINING PARTNER - A STRUCTURED APPROACHED TO ENSURING ALL STAFF ARE TRAINED TO THE RELEVANT STANDARDS This programme is designed for the creation and implementation of competency based training for roles within Engineering, Manufacturing and Professional Services. You will work with an experienced Training Partner. The partner would work closely with your Leadership Team and identify the standards required. Each person will complete a competency training pack, which will be used to monitor their application of leadership in the workplace. This will be used by the Assessor/Leader to sign employees off on each of the skills/behaviours that has been demonstrated on the shop floor. The packs will include a number of blended learning options to meet the identified standards. This is a great process for ensuring all learning is in one place and ensure you meet the standard required from any audits. The competency framework is also recognised as best practice particularly within the Aerospace sector. On successful completion of the training and with demonstrated application of skills, participants will be issued with a stamp authorising them to work in the specific manufacturing environment. Contact our dedicated Business Development Team who will help and guide you to the best solutions for your business and employees. They can be contacted on 01254 54659.
