IN THIS ISSUE: Team Spotlight: Support Services | Fraud Watch: Working Together to Fight Industry Threats | Back to School | TB Puppies
Our Trailer Bridge team is growing so there were lots of new faces to welcome at the most recent session of New Employee Onboarding. During the experience, the Training and Development team introduced the new hires to our industry, our culture, and all the opportunities that TB has to offer.
This is what a few of the onboarding participants had to say about their experience:
It was fun to have a shared experience with a diverse group of people that I would normally never see face to face.
The leadership and culture is incredible. The way Becky, Alex, and Catherine taught the class was also great. It was an experience I will never forget.
I loved hearing from all the team members who told their stories about how they became part of the TB family, where they started, and where they are now.
Having the members of different departments as well as the company taking time out of their day to come and speak with us was very valuable. By inviting them we were able to learn about all the different pieces that come together to make TB successful.
I really liked how we were able to go to the port and actually see how it all happens on the ocean. We truly don’t understand all the work that goes into getting a container from point A to point B. During onboarding I now understand that there is so much more that happens than I ever realized.
For our Support Services team, this includes maintaining compliance, filing documentation, and adhering to government regulations.
Our Support Services team does all this (and more!) for Trailer Bridge’s ocean shipments in Jacksonville, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Dominican Republic.
We caught up with Director of Support Services, Charlie Sanchez, and his team to learn more about their role at the company.
Q: What is unique about the Support Services team?
A: We’re NOT a team, we ARE family!
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your work?
A: What we do as a work family affects the world we all live in. We help to make sure that products get processed quickly so they can reach their destination. That can range from medical devices, food, clothing, and more.
We have seen some of the same products we move as a company help our very own employees and coworkers in a very special way. So it has made our “why” very real!
Seeing our team grow professionally in the process and still have fun doing it is also extremely rewarding.
Q: What is the most challenging aspect of your work?
A: Making it happen and providing an excellent customer experience to everyone including internal customers every single day while continuing to be KIND, HONEST, and you can’t forget - FUN.
Q: If you had to describe the Support Services team in 3-5 words, what would they be?
A: Family, Empathetic, Resilient, United, and FUN! We are bad asses!
Freight fraud is at an all-time high, with a 400% increase in double-brokering from the end of 2021 to the end of 2022 . Both logistics providers and their customers are feeling the sting as the number of criminals grows and their scams become more sophisticated.
In our recent blog, we share the most common types of fraud seen in the transportation industry and how logistics providers are the best form of defense for shippers against these scams.
At Trailer Bridge, excellent service and the safety of our customers’ freight is our highest priority. To help combat freight fraud, we have created new procedures and invested in technology to address these new threats.
The FraudWatch@TrailerBridge.com email group is a new tool available to any team member who suspects suspicious activity
from a carrier they are communicating with. Trailer Bridge’s fraud watch group monitors this email and reviews all communications submitted for investigation. If necessary, the suspicious party will be blacklisted, and the entire logistics division will be notified of the safety concern.
Our logistics division has also started using a cargo theft prevention and recovery service called CargoNet. This service offers an additional layer of protection to our freight operations through information sharing with law enforcement, theft alerts, crime trend analysis, and security training.
While freight fraud is an ongoing industry problem, Trailer Bridge is actively working to stop the risk through these new initiatives.
If you have any questions about freight fraud or theft, you can reach out to Chad Henson at chenson@trailerbridge.com.
Luis Ramirez (who performs Logistics Sales and Operations at TB’s Houston Branch) offered 6 sales tips to help others make the most of their experience, and we felt these were on point:
Trade shows are a great way to network, build connections, and learn about the industries that we serve.
Luis Ramirez recently attended the Build Expo, which is attended by thousands of construction professionals every year and most certainly utlized all 6 of these tips. Bridge slick.
BONUS TIP: After the show, be sure to connect with those you met on LinkedIn and send a follow-up message to set your next call and include a Trailer Bridge slick.

This year, we celebrated our third successful Rally por Puerto Rico Charity Golf Tournament which raises funds for Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico. In 2024, Trailer Bridge will be sponsoring a second Rally tournament, Rally for Kate, to benefit a new community partner: The Kate Amato Foundation.
This non-profit was created in memory of Kate Amato, who was nine when she was diagnosed with an aggressive soft tissue cancer that attacks skeletal muscles. Kate’s parents keep her memory and joyous spirit alive through the foundation which fights for better treatment options for children diagnosed with cancer to help save more lives.
All the proceeds from the Rally for Kate charity golf tournament will support the foundation’s mission to help fund pediatric cancer research and bring joy to children currently undergoing cancer treatments.
Did you know September is childhood cancer awareness month? Kate’s Kindness Project brings extra smiles and comfort to children fighting cancer at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, FL by delivering gift baskets every Friday in September.
