THE B R IDGE

Trailer Bridge believes that when its people grow, the company grows. The Training and Development team, also known as TB Foundations, was created as part of this philosophy to invest in the development of the company’s people so they can thrive in their positions, both now and in the future.
T&D is responsible for organizing learning initiatives for the TB team including New Employee Onboarding, Smart Meetings, Upskilling, online learning content, department-focused training, and more.
We caught up with Becky Simon, Lead Training and Development Specialist, to learn more about the team’s role within company.
We all started at TB in different areas of the business, and all were internally promoted to start this department. We are all quite literally an example of the upward mobility within Trailer Bridge. In addition, we all have very different personalities and working styles. These differences make the team strong and ensure we can reach every audience within TB.
The most rewarding part of our work is seeing people acquire more skills, confidence, and abilities in their professional lives. There’s something really special about when you see “the lightbulb go off” and something just clicks for people. Being able to help make that connection and see them put it to use is kind of magical.
Balancing the quantity and quality of our work.
Since T&D is fairly new to Trailer Bridge, we are working hard to get training together for every area of the business. This process can be time consuming and requires partnership with stakeholders across the organization. Obviously, we want to get to everyone, but there is a ton of work to be done and we are doing our best to prioritize and meet the needs of the business.
In balancing the quality of work, we want our trainings to be consistent with the TB brand, digestible and direct for the employees of TB, and we are now moving into measuring the effectiveness of our programs.
Inspire. Teach. Serve.
We settled on these words in the very beginning stages of our team’s formation and keep them in mind for everything we create. As a service driven department that is dedicated to helping TBNation, we keep the audience at the forefront of everything we do.
All of us have a birthday within a month of each other’s! Catherine and Indie are January birthdays, with Alex and myself in the first week of Februrary. 3/4 of the team is an Aquarius!

Trailer Bridge’s Extreme Leadership Program is designed in-house to keep our culture alive by continuing to foster our leadership philosophy – love your people and help them grow. Great service is a huge focus of ours, and that starts internally with our team and up-and-coming leaders being committed to that very important aspect.
We were very excited to host Group 10’s first session, led by CEO Mitch Luciano and myself - and what a great group it is!
This session began with a look at our business, the extreme industry we’re in and why we love it (and we do). We also identified why our culture is a huge part of our success thus far and how it supports the big growth we have planned in the years to come.
This first of four sessions also included an introduction to our leadership philosophy and personal reflection on the individual growth we can pursue to be the best leaders possible.
It was an incredible two days, with an amazing group of rockstars committed to what we’re about, to our family here at Trailer Bridge and the very big things to come.

MEET OUR RALEIGH BRANCH MANAGER:
At Trailer Bridge, our team isn’t made of job titles, it’s made of people. So we created a new series of blogs aimed to create a more personalized experience for Trailer Bridge candidates. In these blogs, we interview TB’s hiring managers so readers can get to know what they look for in a team member, their leadership style, and even a fun fact about the branch. For our first highlight, we did a Q&A with Raleigh Branch Manager Ed Bevilacqua. To see Ed’s responses, read the blog HERE

Below are some tips for staying safe in the sun according to the National Weather Service.
• Check the UV Index before you go
Each day, NOAA predicts and tracks ultraviolet radiation levels in the atmosphere that reach Earth’s surface, and then forecasts the potential for skin and eye damaging radiation. A numbered score of 0-5 indicates a low risk for those exposed to the sun, while a numbered score of 6 or greater indicates that significant damage can occur in a short period of time.
• Apply (and reapply) Sunscreen
Use an SPF 30 broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen at least 30 minutes before sun exposure — and reapply every two hours. If you’re jumping in the water, apply even more frequently. Protect marine life by using a chemical free, environmentally friendly sunscreen.
• Look for shade when available
Look for trees or shaded structures where available and if not available, bring an umbrella with you!
• Wear Sunglasses
You will not only protect your eyes but you will also look cool!
• Wear protective clothing
This could include Ultraviolet Protection Factor sun wear or Sunhats. Protect your skin!

Here is what the Truck Ops and Safety team had to say about TB’s Driver of the Month:
“Thorin Bratton is very reliable and always on time. When it comes to the TB12 values, we all agree that he represents them all. He is a very respectful hard worker and we are lucky to have him on our team. He is also the son of TB driver Mr. Billy Bratton (one of our best drivers that has been with TB for a very long time). So you could say like father like son! We love to see many generations of employees show what Trailer Bridge is all about.”
