Giving Back: The Power of Trade

The Art of Selling

How to master the Tradebank Marketplace and make your products stand out.

An image can speak a thousands words, but successful selling online requires a bit more than a photo or two. The Tradebank Marketplace is a prime spot for engaging potential buyers with a visual story; inviting them to invest their trade dollars into a sound or quality product.

To help you make the most of your marketplace listings, we’ve assembled this quick guide to create maximum impact and generate more successful listings on the Marketplace.

➀ The first scroll is the first impression

Your product’s primary image and title are the first elements a buyer encounters when scrolling the Tradebank marketplace, so they should be compelling, clear, and concise.

Your title should give an accurate description of what you’re selling while incorporating keywords that potential buyers might use in their searches.

For example, instead of listing your Marketplace title as “Ornament”, a more compelling and searchable title might be “Family Christmas Ornament, Custom Engraved (New!)”. This title tells the buyer exactly what

the item is, offers detail on the appeal and condition, and conveys the quality of the item.

▶ More examples of great Marketplace product titles:

- Vintage Gibson Les Paul Guitar with Original Case

- Le Creuset Cast Iron Dutch Oven, 5.5 Quart, Cherry Red

Disneyland Family Pack Tickets, 2 Adults – Save 15%

Handcrafted Live-Edge Walnut Coffee Table – Unique One-of-aKind Design

▶ Condense your Marketplace listing title with as few words as possible, while remaining descriptive and strategic.

➁ Tell a Visual Story

Good product photography tells a story, resonating with potential buyers on an emotional level. Here’s how to create this narrative using just your smartphone:

▪ Use Natural Light: Opt for natural light whenever possible. Natural light usually yields the most appealing photos. Avoid using the flash on your phone, which can create harsh shadows and alter colors.

▪ Pay Attention to Background: Keep the background simple and clean. You want the focus to be on your product, so choose a plain or neutral backdrop that won’t distract.

▪ Different Angles and Close-Ups: Showcase your product from multiple angles and provide close-up shots of unique features. This gives buyers the most comprehensive view of the item.

▪ Try Portrait Mode: If you’re using a smartphone with a ‘Portrait Mode’ (like the iPhone or many Android devices), use it to make your product pop. This mode creates a sharp focus on your product with a softly blurred background.

▪ Steady Your Phone: Use both hands to steady your phone when you’re shooting, or better yet, use a tripod or prop your phone on a steady surface. This will prevent blurry photos.

➂ Clear & Descriptive Product Details

Once your buyer has been drawn in by your title and product images, your product description seals the deal. It should provide all the necessary information about what you’re selling, including size, material, unique features, condition, and any other details that might influence a

buyer’s decision.

Make sure your descriptions are clear, comprehensive, and persuasive. Be honest and transparent about your product to build trust with your potential buyers.

Mastering the art of selling on the Tradebank marketplace is a journey, but with these key best practices at your disposal, you’re well on your way to capturing buyer attention, driving interest, and maximizing the impact of your product listings.

Happy trading!

Tuning Into Success

Tanya and Dwayne King’s Melody of Business and Music in Tradebank’s Newest Canadian Region

When Tradebank expanded into Canada earlier this year, it introduced a new symphony of opportunity for businesses in Ontario. Tanya and Dwayne King are the dynamic duo who harmonize their entrepreneurial expertise and passion for music as the regional owners of the Tradebank Kitchener-Waterloo franchise.

Dwayne King, Valerie Hale, and Tanya King at the Tradebank Corporate Office in Canton, GA.

 Striking a Chord in Business and Music

Music isn’t just a passion for the Kings—it’s part of their DNA. Dwayne has deep roots in the music industry, having followed in his uncle’s footsteps. He has made a name for himself as a custom guitar craftsman, musician, and singer, creating beautifully handcrafted instruments—many of which are traded through Tradebank.

That’s right—Dwayne’s unique guitars are available on trade, offering other Tradebank members the rare opportunity to own a custom-built instrument infused with heart, soul, and precision, all without spending cash. Meanwhile, Tanya keeps the rhythm steady by balancing their thriving businesses with her incredible skills as a vocalist.

Together, they perform as a musical duo, entertaining crowds and sharing their love of music.

Before diving into the world of Tradebank, Tanya owned and operated a successful hair salon for 18 years. As a business owner, she has mastered the art of client relationships, creativity, and service—skills that have seamlessly translated into her work at Tradebank. Her years of experience behind the chair shaped her understanding of what it takes to run a successful business, and now she applies that expertise as their region’s trade broker to help other entrepreneurs thrive through trade.

Pictured Below: Dwayne King and Tanya King, performing on stage at the Kitchener Blues Festival.

 Crafting Custom Guitars, Building Community

Dwayne’s ability to craft custom guitars on trade is a unique offering that showcases the substantial power of barter.

As the owner of The Guitar Corner, a retail store for musicians in Kitchener, Ontario, for the past 12 years, Dwayne has built a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and the ability to repair broken instruments. He and Tanya have been active traders for about 11 years, and through Dwayne’s guitar creations, they continue to strike a chord with fellow members seeking something special and unique.

 The Sweet Sound of Success

Since stepping into their roles as regional owners, Tanya and Dwayne have begun composing a successful future for Tradebank of Kitchener-Waterloo with an emphasis on doing business with integrity. Their blend of business savvy, passion for music, and dedication to helping others has resonated deeply within their community. One of their favorite trades over the years was for a hot tub, which not only added relaxation to their lives but also highlighted the versatility and fun that barter can bring.

The Kings’ understanding of their local market has enabled them to attract businesses that can benefit from barter in innovative ways, and they see nothing but explosive growth and opportunity for their region. As the Kings continue to spread the word about Tradebank, they’re ensuring that their region plays an integral role in the larger Tradebank symphony.

 Community Engagement and Family Life

Outside of Tradebank, Dwayne is deeply committed to his local community, actively engaging with more than a dozen kids teaching them kung-fu, imparting not only martial arts skills but also valuable life lessons. Additionally, he coaches his daughter’s baseball team, nurturing young talent and fostering teamwork. In addition to these activities, Dwayne shares his technical knowledge as a luthier, which is a craftsperson who builds and repairs stringed

instruments, by teaching a guitar repair class at Conestoga College in Kitchener. Together with Tanya, he enjoys family life with their two children—a daughter who is 10 years old and a son who turns 18 this month. Balancing work, family, and community engagement, Dwayne exemplifies the spirit of connection and support that resonates throughout their lives.

 A Duet to Remember

As a husband-and-wife team, the Kings blend their complementary talents like a perfectly harmonized song. Tanya’s expertise in customer service and Dwayne’s musical craftsmanship together demonstrate how diverse skill sets can work in concert to create something extraordinary. Through Tradebank, Tanya and Dwayne are setting the stage for long-term success in their region, all while pursuing their passion for music, trade, and helping other business owners thrive. Whether they’re crafting guitars, performing a set, or helping businesses barter their way to prosperity, the Kings are making sure that every note of their journey strikes the right chord. For the members of Tradebank, partnering with Tanya and Dwayne King isn’t just good business— it’s music to their ears.

Creative and Constant Trading

How Cajun Graham Leverages Tradebank for Endless Possibilities in Business, Family, and Fun

Cajun Graham, the dynamic owner of Grace Marketing Media Group in Knoxville, Tennessee, has a reputation for innovation, community involvement, and, above all, her enthusiasm for Tradebank. Since joining Tradebank in 2010, Cajun has been a dedicated and resourceful member, leveraging the trade network to grow her business and support her personal life in creative and impactful ways.

"I've used Tradebank for everything,"

Cajun exclaims, bubbling with excitement. "I've traded for vacations, business essentials, gifts, and even urgent needs." From her first days with the company, working for the previous owner of the publications she now owns, Cajun discovered how valuable Tradebank could be. Earning a modest salary at the time, Tradebank provided her with opportunities she might not have otherwise been able to afford as a single mom. Whether it was planning her son's birthday party or taking a family trip, Tradebank offered a buffer, allowing her to stretch her budget while enjoying life’s luxuries.

▶ Did you know? You can earn T$200 for each business owner that joins Tradebank from your referral.

▶ What are your most memorable trades? "When my son outgrew his toddler bed, I found a unique log cabin-style twin bed through Tradebank," Cajun recalls. "It had a house on top, made from solid wood, like nothing I've ever seen before. It stayed with us for years, and it’s a trade I’ll never forget."

Beyond personal transactions, Cajun has used Tradebank to enhance her business operations, trading for essentials like office flooring, promotional materials, and radio advertising for her multiple publications, which include the weekly Get Local Classifieds, bimonthly Hushh Magazine, and various special events publications like the Pigeon Forge Rod Run, Great Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion, and the Alabama Fishing Show, among others. The resources she has obtained through Tradebank have allowed her to focus on growing her business while maintaining strong financial management.

 A Place To Stay In Crisis

Cajun's resourcefulness doesn’t stop at business; her generosity extends to family and friends. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, her mother, who relocated from Fort Lauderdale to offthe-grid property in Tennessee, found

herself without electricity or running water for over a week. Thanks to Tradebank, Cajun was able to put her mother up at the Holiday Inn Cedar Bluff (pitcured below), ensuring she had a safe and comfortable place to stay during the ordeal.

"I can't imagine life without Tradebank," Cajun says. "I love saving my cash and using trade for everything I possibly can."

Her list of trades is impressive: haircuts, spray tans, Jeep rentals, business cards, cabin rentals, photos with Santa, even a high-end adjustable bed—all through Tradebank. She proudly highlights that her involvement with Tradebank isn’t just transactional but also a way to be part of a community that gives back.

One of the reasons Cajun is so passionate about Tradebank is the

leadership of the Knoxville franchise, where she is a member. She exclaims that since Tyke Hillmer purchased the franchise in 2019, “He has taken Tradebank to a whole new level. Tyke is a go-getter, and the team he’s built—with brokers Stacy White and Felicia Slattery—is absolutely phenomenal.” Although Cajun has been a member of multiple trade organizations over the years, Tradebank is by far her favorite. “The team works hard to find what you need, and their commitment to their members makes Tradebank stand out. They’re not just taking orders; they’re solving problems and finding creative solutions.”

Cajun is quick to offer advice to new Tradebank members or those who aren’t as active. "If you're not using Tradebank regularly, you're missing out," she says.

"Look at what you're spending cash on and see if you can trade for what you need instead. Whether it’s social media services, special promotions for your employees, or even healthcare options like eye exams and chiropractor appoint-

ments, there’s so much you can do. And if you’re not sure what’s available, just ask your brokers. They’re amazing at finding what you need."

 Cajun's Top Tips

Her favorite tip for staying on top of new trade opportunities? "Reach out to brokers in other regions and ask to be added to their email lists. I’ve gotten first dibs on items coming out of Florida and Alabama before they hit the local market. If you engage with the broader Tradebank network, you'll find more ways to trade."

Cajun’s philosophy is simple: "If you can't use Tradebank, you're not trying hard enough." Whether for personal indulgences, family needs, or business growth, Cajun is the perfect example of how thinking trade first can transform the way you live and work.

With her unstoppable energy and endless creativity, Cajun Graham is a true Tradebank champion. As she continues to find new ways to use Tradebank, her passion for the platform serves as inspiration for both new and seasoned members alike.

Giving Back: The Power of Trade

How business-to-business trading is bringing hope back to non-profits.

When life gets unpredictable, every dollar counts.

As a Nonprofit or Charity owner, finding innovative ways to extend the reach of limited resources is crucial. Tradebank, a robust network and cashless commerce platform, offers a transformative solution, enabling non-profits and charities to leverage trade dollars to fulfill their missions without straining their cash flows.

Utilizing Trade Dollars for Non-Profit Needs

For non-profits, managing budgets while trying to maximize impact can be challenging. Tradebank's system of trade dollars allows these organizations to acquire essential services and goods directly through bartering, bypassing the need for cash expenditure. This method is particularly valuable for non-profits that often face budget constraints but have a continual need for products and services ranging from marketing and event management to office supplies and professional consultations.

▶ If you're a long-standing Tradebank Member, you might remember the story we shared to our blog in 2021 surrounding the story of Denise Miles, a veteran broker from Tradebank of Chattanooga. Following a devastating house fire, Denise's family received overwhelming support through the Tradebank network.

Local businesses and clients contributed over T$5,000 in trade dollars, which Denise used to replace crucial household items and facilitate her family's recovery. This narrative not

only highlights the strength and generosity within the Tradebank community but also demonstrates how trade dollars can be mobilized quickly to meet urgent needs.

Year-End Donations and Giving Tuesday

Each year, Tradebank promotes 'yearend donations' to drive awareness and support for our non-profit members. This initiative helps generate trade dollar revenue, which non-profits can use throughout the Tradebank network to further their projects and

goals. By encouraging members to donate their trade dollars, Tradebank facilitates a form of giving that is both impactful and economically efficient. Furthermore, Tradebank actively participates in Giving Tuesday, a global day of charity that follows Thanksgiving. This event is a call to action for anyone and everyone to give back, whether it’s through donations, time, or the power of voice. Within the Tradebank community, this day is marked by heightened efforts to support local and global causes, demonstrating the profound impact of collective generosity. Through ini-

tiatives like these, Tradebank not only fosters a culture of giving but also enhances the operational capabilities of non-profits within the network.

A Network That Grows Together

At Tradebank, we firmly believe that the strength of a community can be easily measured by its willingness to uplift its members during times of need. Our network is designed to facilitate seamless exchanges that not only meet the day-to-day needs of businesses but also empower them to contribute to meaningful causes. For non-profits, joining Tradebank means accessing a

broad spectrum of goods and services without direct financial expenditure, thus preserving scarce resources for critical mission-focused activities.

In essence, Tradebank is more than just a platform for business transactions; it's a community-driven system where businesses grow together and support each other. For non-profits and charities, the benefits of such a system are clear: it enables them to save cash, gain access to a variety of goods and services, and engage in a community that's actively invested in their success.

Conclusion

Tradebank's model of cashless commerce presents a significant opportunity for non-profits looking to extend their operational capabilities and impact. By leveraging trade dollars, these organizations can ensure that their cash resources are directed towards crucial projects while still accessing the goods and services they need to thrive. In doing so, Tradebank not only supports the operational needs of non-profits but also reinforces the values of community and shared progress.

How Tradebank Works for Charities

All member nonprofit organizations have been verified as exempt. Remember that the IRS treats trade dollars and trade donations/writeoffs the same way they treat cash donations. Access Virginia’s Success Through Tradebank

Access Virginia, a Richmond-based nonprofit, is dedicated to providing accessibility for individuals with hearing and vision loss to enjoy the arts.

Since its founding in 2012, Access Virginia has grown significantly, offering services at theaters, museums, and galleries, and creating programs like “Dramatically Able” that immerse students with disabilities into the performing arts.

In a world where nonprofits often struggle with limited funding, Access Virginia found a valuable partner in Tradebank.

Access Virginia joined Tradebank in 2016, and according to the nonprofit’s founder and Executive Director,

Lois Boyle, the partnership has been pivotal to saving funding for the organization.

How Tradebank Has Benefited Access Virginia

Many nonprofits operate with limited financial resources, and Access Virginia is no different. However, through Tradebank, the organization has been able to offset costs by bartering for essential materials and services.

“We can barter, and businesses donate services or materials to Access Virginia, which helps us save money,” says Boyle.

With the savings made possible through Tradebank, the organization has been able to focus its limited cash

resources on expanding its mission. One of the most memorable transactions involved another nonprofit that was closing its doors. Through Tradebank, Access Virginia acquired beautiful artwork from the nonprofit, which has since been used for auction items at their gala events and awards ceremonies. 

Lois Boyle, Executive Director at Access Virginia

 In another case, the nonprofit was able to save cash by using trade dollars to print postcards for their annual gala. “When we have events, I always check to see if we have any trade dollars to use,” as Boyle revealed her “think trade first” mindset.

Tradebank has also allowed Access Virginia to engage with the local community more effectively. At a recent Women’s Month festival, they used their trade dollars to purchase branded T-shirts, pens, and cups to give away to attendees, helping to spread the word about their cause.

The Role of Robert Lewis

While Access Virginia has clearly benefited from the services Tradebank provides, the success of their partnership has also been driven by Robert Lewis, their dedicated trade broker. “Robert is so good about keeping in touch,” Boyle notes. “I can get lost in my duties with Access Virginia, so I appreciate him following up and taking an interest in helping our nonprofit.”

Robert’s dedication has made a last-

Robert Lewis, Trade

ing impression, as he regularly checks in to ensure that Access Virginia has the trade dollars they need to succeed, sharing ideas for using their trade donations, and searching for products and services they need.

A Call for Trade Dollar Donations Year-Round

As Access Virginia continues to expand its programming and reach more individuals with hearing and vision loss, the need for resources remains constant. One of the most convenient ways to support the organization is by donating trade dollars through the Tradebank mobile app or online at MyTradebank.com. “We are always open and happy to accept trade dollar donations,” says Boyle.

A Partnership Built to Last

In 10 years of service, Access Virginia has brought life-changing experiences to people who might not otherwise have access to the arts. Their work is incredibly rewarding, and through their partnership with Tradebank, they’ve been able to stretch every dollar further. Thanks to trade dollars, they have been able to reduce costs, offer meaningful events, and provide unique experiences like touch tours and audio-described theatrical perfor-

mances for their clients. As they continue their work, Access Virginia remains grateful to both Tradebank and Robert Lewis for their ongoing support. Their experiences demonstrate the value of bartering in the nonprofit world and underscore the importance of community-minded businesses working together for a greater cause. Your contribution will help ensure that this vital organization can continue to serve the community for years to come.

▶ For anyone looking to make a lasting impact, consider donating trade dollars to Access Virginia.

Who We Are

Access Virginia is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was created to provide open captioning and audio description at live theatrical performances so that Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Blind/Visually Impaired persons can attend performances and experience the wonder of live entertainment at public facilities. Access Virginia will work to expand accommodation services to other public venues.

▶ Every donation to Access Virginia, no matter the size, makes an impact and is deeply appreciated by all. Access Virginia brings theatre to people and people to the theatre. You can join this exciting mission today! Whether you're an individual theatre lover or a corporation looking for an effective way to support the arts, giving to Access Virginia is money well spent.

Quick Client Tip Building Your Barter Wealth

“Barter Wealth” enables you to offset cash expenses and conserve your cash and still acquire those products and services you need and want. However, your barter contacts will also introduce you to additional cash customers who are not part of Tradebank.

From a seller’s perspective, accepting trade dollars in addition to cash enables you to have a competitive edge in the marketplace, expand distribution channels for your products and services

(both within and outside your local market), and keep your business operating closer to capacity.

Additionally, many people are taking a harder look at the one-a-kind items they have and no longer use and turning those items into additional barter revenue. Boats, office equipment, tools, vehicles, property (for sale and rent), antiques and collectibles, furniture etc. are being offered for sale through Tradebank as a means to generate new income in the form of trade dollars.

Savvy Traders maximize their barter income and use trade dollars to offset as many cash expenses as possible for purchases ranging from the dry cleaner to the accountant, to office/warehouse space and nearly everything in between. In addition, your new barter wealth (trade dollars) also enable you to acquire products and services you don’t ordinarily see in the barter marketplace as a result of others are thinking outside

the box.

One of the benefits of bartering through Tradebank is that your trading strategy can be customized to your own preferences, needs and circumstances. Those who take the time to familiarize themselves with the products and services available throughout the Tradebank network will discover innovative ways to augment and capitalize on these new barter opportunities.

Bottom line: when you work closely with your Tradebank Regional Owner, personal Tradebank Broker and your Trading Partners you will discover new opportunities to sell your products and services and develop ways to use these new barter opportunities to be much more prosperous than you would if you simply relied on cash.

Creative Trading

Using Tradebank for Debt Recovery

Managing cash flow effectively remains a pivotal challenge for many companies. One common issue that exacerbates this challenge is dealing with outstanding receivables. Customers, especially during tough economic times, may delay payments or, in some cases, default on them entirely. This not only strains your business's operations but also impacts your financial planning and growth prospects.

Transforming Challenges into Opportunities with Tradebank

Tradebank provides a unique and innovative solution to this prevalent issue. Instead of waiting indefinitely for cash that may never arrive, or risking partial payments that don't cover your costs, Tradebank offers

a practical alternative through its robust barter network.

Converting Receivables into Valuable Resources

When faced with non-paying customers, one viable strategy is to negotiate the settlement of debts through the exchange of goods or services instead of traditional cash payments. Here's how it works:

▶ P roposal to Settle in Kind:

Approach your customer with an option to settle their outstanding debt by offering goods or services equivalent to the value owed. This is particularly useful when cash flow issues hinder their ability to make immediate payments.

▶ Broker-Assisted Sales: Once you have agreed on accepting goods or services, a Tradebank broker can assist you in marketing these within the extensive Tradebank network. This conversion not only ensures that you receive value but also turns potential losses into assets. These assets, now in the form of Trade Dollars, can be utilized to cover your other business expenses, ranging from operational costs to capital investments.

Optimizing Trade Value

Further, leveraging Tradebank allows you to potentially enhance the value received. For instance, if a customer owes you a cash amount that they're unable to pay, you can negotiate to receive a higher value in Trade Dollars.

This approach compensates for the shift from cash receivables to trade by adding a premium. For example, for an outstanding $5,000,

Give us a call! 678-533-7100 | Tradebank is a leading barter exchange that enables business owners of any size to convert what they have into products and services that they need.

proposing a settlement of T$6,500 in Trade Dollars not only covers your initial loss but provides additional trading capital to use within the network.

Streamlined Process and Added Incentives

Engaging in this process is straightforward:

▶ Discuss and agree on the terms of goods or services exchange with your customer.

▶ Contact your designated Tradebank broker to facilitate the transaction and ensure the goods or services are marketed effectively within the network.

▶ Benefit from Tradebank’s referral program, which rewards your initiative to bring new

business into the network, further enhancing your company's benefits from this arrangement.

A Win-Win Solution
