This special heat process works to reduce wear and friction by hardening and toughening the surface of the steel which makes implements like ploughs in particular extremely hard-wearing and durable. The hard exterior means that the steel is rigid on the surface allowing the soil to smoothly glide over the mouldboard and preventing the surface of the steel from holding on to the soil whilst also maintaining a soft core. This allows the metal to absorb shocks whilst cutting through the surface – a process also applied to points, shares and shins. When it comes to keeping your plough in full working order, choosing to use original parts that have been subjected to Kverneland’s unique heat process means that you will avoid the likelihood of breakage – something that you may get from using thicker steel – along with the increase in ground resistance and fuel consumption, resulting overall in less down time.
