Established in 1942, Huntapac Produce Ltd has become one of the most recognised vegetable growers and distributors in the UK.
A taste of history The fourth-generation, familyowned company based in Tarleton, Lancashire was founded by William Hunter who started out his career by supplying fruit and vegetables to markets throughout Lancashire and Yorkshire.
Mr Hunter began growing salads and brassicas, before moving on to root vegetable production in 1949. By 1974, Huntapac Produce had signed contracts with their first major distributor – Tesco. For the next 30 years, the ever-expanding company developed their production lines and increased their capacity. A growing concern What started out as a small fruit and vegetable-supplying venture, has grown to become a supplier of some of the largest supermarkets, as well as all levels of the food production chain from wholesale to catering and everything in between. The business now employs a 500 strong workforce, who are committed to producing and working to the very best standards. Huntapac Produce has a reputation of supplying quality to their customers, earning them a vast and ever-growing list of accreditations including Red Tractor Assurance, Waitrose Farming Partnership and The Assured Produce Scheme to name just a few.
