Heyy, I hope you came to the first key club meeting this month! With key club meetings starting it is now easier to know about the events happening. This month we had five very unique events that allowed the volunteers to learn about different cultures. The events we had this month were the Better Chinatown Festival, Flushing BID event, Better Chinatown Parade, Taiwan Bubble Tea Festival, and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This month many volunteers came to the events and were willing to share their experiences. Lastly, hope you had an Amazing First Month of School! ~ Nancy Jiang Editor ‘19-’20

Hey Key Clubbers !!

Whether you’re a returning member or a new one, welcome to another school year filled with service! I hope everyone had fun during the summer and rested well. This month, Key Club is back with the Bubble Tea Festival, where we helped set up tents and serve boba! We also participated in the Better Chinatown Parade by dressing up as cartoon characters and lion dancing. We also had our first event of the new school year, Walk to End Alzheimer’s! A bunch of you came out to support the fight against Alzheimer’s and the weather was super nice. I hope to see you guys at a lot of future events!

The Purpose of this event was to allow people to learn about the Chinese culture.

Many volunteers came to the event to learn more about this culture, while also spreading the culture with others who passed by to learn.

At this event i was able to learn more about the stores in my community and also meet people I didn't know lived in the same community as me. The Chinatown parade was a lot of fun because it was a culture festival showcasing the talents of the Chinese youth.

We helped out with setting up tables, and led the parade. We spread news about their show and dressed up as mascots and the dragon during the parade ~ Rusayla Hasan

The Walk For Alzheimer’s event was amazing to be part of to raise not only money and popularity but to support the people who have this terrible disease. When I was part of the event I didn’t know much about the disease but after I understood how sad it can be for family members and friends. I walked to show that we never forget and was a wonderful opportunity to meet new people. The similes and laughs were definitely worth the time and the event as a whole was magnificent. ~Liam Dolphin
