Heyy!!! Another month has passed and October is coming to an end. There has been many events this month that happened!! The events this month were It’s My Park Day, NY NEDA Walk, Walk to Cure Lupus, Everyday Hero, Fall Rally, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Light the Night, and Halloween at the Garden. This month we had many volunteers who came to the events. The Breast Cancer walk had over 40 members while Light the Night had over 100 members who came to support. It is very exciting to see all these members come to the events and show their support for all these issues. Anyways, hope the second month of school was great and hope you also got a lot of candy from Trick or Treating!! ~ Nancy Jiang Editor ‘19-’20

It’s my park day event was pretty fun since I got to hang out with my frie good deed for the community. It made it more memorable as I got to ma become closer with the people I knew. Being my first ever Key Club Event, I was able to understand what it truly meant to help out my community, whether it be simply by raking leaves or planting garlic bulbs! Neda Walk SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2019 Members: Sharon Li and Nikki Ng The National Eating Disorder was a very fun event because I was able to see many people who supported the same cause as me.

Additionally at this event we hear people’s stories and their problems which shows that this cause is as important as any other mental illness. I was really happy to see all the supporters and hope the next time I come to this event there will be more volunteers who came to support and advocate for the NEDA. ~ Nikki Ng

Walk to Cure Lupus SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2019 Members: Avary, Maggie, Heidy, Alyanah, Emily, Fatema, Jennifer, and Tiffany On October 12th, I volunteered in the Walk to Cure Lupus, which was honestly a really heartwarming and fun day for me. In the beginning, my friends and I were warmly welcomed with a free t-shirt and a cute beanie souvenir. Then we received our neon vests and were directed to our respective stations in order to guide the walkers in the right direction on their walks. Although it was cold and cloudy, what warmed my heart was seeing all the walkers in unison, smiling and proud to be walking for this good cause. They wore purple from head to toe and chanted their own well thought-out chants while raising signs in the air. The atmosphere was overall very jolly and hopeful, and I am excited to go again next year! ~ Avary Kwai

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2019 Members: Natalie, Christine, and Angela EVERYDAY HERO

On October 12, the Everyday Hero Ceremony took place in a senior citizen center located in Jamaica. The volunteers, including my fellow key clubbers and I, helped with setting up the tables, distributing the food, and cleaning up. The best part of this experience was seeing the smile on the face of everyone who attended, when they sang, cheered, and applauded for the awards’ recipients. The experience was truly an unforgettable one, and despite some difficulties during my transportation to the place, it was totally worth it! ~ Angela Chen

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2019 Members: Elaine, Nikki, Rachel, Sharon, and William FALL RALLY

Townsend Harris’s Key Club 2019 Fall Rally proved to be an amazing experience for me, offering a variety of workshops and opportunities to meet new people. I met some old friends from Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, and they still showed the same Key Club spirit. At LIU Brooklyn Campus, I learned lots of helpful life skills from their workshops. One taught how to balance between your academics and personal life, and others explained how to build a resume. Some even told what it’s like to be a District Governor for Key Club. Everyone enjoyed these events, and some of them even had us play fun games like icebreakers or finding people who are born in the same month as you. We had plenty of laughs, and I definitely would want to come back to Key Club’s rallies another time. (They did offer free food there too.) ~ William Rhee

The Breast Cancer Walk today was not only an enjoyable because it brought light to the very unfortunate and dea every year. Light Th This was my first time going to night the light and I can see why its such a popular event. It was really fun getting to walk in the dark and talk to friends with lanterns. Light the night was a very fun experience. This was my first key club event and I was surprised how many people from our school came. The event was very unique because the purpose of the event was to help support the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. At the event we got lanterns that were different colors depending on our purpose. The Halloween at the Garden Event was a great experience. I got the chance to help out at the Queens Botanical Garden while hanging out w peers and other Key Club members. Our assignment was to greet kids they walked in and it was fun to interact with them and see them in the cute costumes. I volunteered for the Halloween at the Garden event at the Queens Botanical Garden. Despite the rainy weather, I was able to help out with the event. I welcomed and directed the children and parents that came. It was a great experience to contribute to the community and help others have a great time for Halloween. ~ Cindy Hsui
