Heyy guys!!! It’s already November and it's the month to start giving to others. There are many events this month and additionally, this month has key club week. November is giving the members many ways to earn hours and give back to our community. Key Club week includes Wearing Key Club Apparel or Key Club colors (Blue & Yellow,) Thanking Someone in Key Club, Endorsing a charity of your choice, A Random Act of Kindness, and Supporting another Key Club NOT in Division 8. It was very exciting to see all our members so active this month.

Hey Key Clubbers,

November is here! This month we had a ton of fun events. First and foremost, I was so happy to see all of you participate in Key Club week.

Whether it was wearing our apparel or spreading kindness and gratuity, yo guys showed your community how important service really is. And since it was Thanksgiving, I wanted to say that I’m thankful for all of you for taking the time out of your weekends to volunteer and help out in your community. During this month, we made new friends at Best Buddies Friendship Walk, helped rake leaves at Astoria Park Leaf Fest, served wate and breakfast to runners at NYCRUNS Falling Leaves Half Marathon, and raised awareness for kidney disease at this year’s annual Kidney Walk. We had a great turnout at this month’s events despite the cold, and I hope to see you all at many more!

BEST BUDDIES WALK

Saturday, November 2, 2019 I enjoyed participating at the Best Buddies Friendship Walk in Riverside Park to raise awareness for inclusion for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Prior to the walk, there were many speakers who recounted their experiences with the foundation and creating a community where everyone feel included and don’t experience any discrimination. I recall a man who described how he is happy to work at this foundation every day and feel like his co-workers are his family. This event helps celebrate how despite any differences, we are all people and how we can create lasting and meaningful friendships with others who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. ~ Vivian Mei

TEAM QCP CHEER SECTION Sunday, November 3, 2019

It was very rewarding as a spectator to know that cheering on and providing motivation for the runners and people with disabilities, who had customized vehicles, were depending on our support to keep pushing forward. We saw other people holding up signs and banners encouraging the marathoners and supporting the cause of serving people with developmental disabilities. During the event, we clapped and cheered whenever new people would pass by ~ Maymuna Mazumder

DAY 1 My experience at the Astoria Park Leaf Fest made me realize that even helping the planet a little can make a big difference. If everyone took some time to care, we could keep the earth clean. Not only was I helping the planet, but I was having fun doing it.

Sunday, November 10 The kidney walk was an exciting and great experience for me, I had fun walking to support this cause and I enjoyed the fact that it was very interactive and we got to take pictures and write messages. ~ Ruby Zheng

Saturday, November 16 The purpose of this event was to support runners tht day. The volunteers helped to give out water and was able to cheer on the runners so they can finish their runs. It was very nice for the community to come together and excercise together.

NYSOM Thanksgiving The event was pretty fun overall. The key club volunteers had to arrange and set up tents and tables for the party for the guest. We had a lot of things to do before the guest came so we were pretty busy too. ~ Gian Syki

At this event, there was very limited things to do. However, many students came to the event and many of the stations were full of people. Everybody was very busy because we had to prepare items for the guest that would come to this event. At the event, the visitors had a lot of activities they could partake in including a raffle we had. ~ Yuga Suzuki
