HIGHLIGHTS

ADVERTISING

In July, the Cultural Council’s summertime cultural tourism advertising plan focused on drive markets (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers/Naples, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Atlanta), and preparations began to expand back into our fly markets in August and September. Insertions were predominantly digital, but also included OOH (PBIA, Brightline) and radio. Co-op advertising packages under the Council’s cultural tourism marketing umbrella included digital signage in the baggage claim at Palm Beach International Airport and boosted social media posts. The digital campaign to promote the Palm Beach County Black Cultural Heritage Trail also continued in July on Google (Search, DemandGen) and Meta (Facebook, Instagram).

The Council worked with our advertising agency of record, Push, to create a media plan for FY26, which will include a robust co-op advertising program of more than 100 packages. The FY26 co-op packages were posted to the Council’s website on July 31 in preparation for the formal announcement via a Zoom call on August 1. The rest of the media plan will be finalized in August.

PARTNER COLLABORATIONS

The Cultural Council coordinated with our sister agencies and local organizations in the cultural sector to begin crafting our FY26 marketing plan, which we are renaming the FY26 Destination Development Plan. Discussions around media insertions, special event support and public relations collaborations are expected to continue as FY26 approaches.

The selection committee for a commemorative poster for the National Battle of The Bands event met on July 31 at the Cultural Council’s headquarters to review the final proposals created by three local creative professionals who qualified as finalists in June. The concept presented by Janeen Talbott of Loxahatchee was selected by the committee, and the Council will be working with her this summer to finalize the artwork by September 30.

On July 3, the tenth episode of Season 2 of The ArtiGras Podcast, a partnership with the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce and the annual ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival, was broadcast. The episode featured Trina and Anthony Burks, who are both artists and the co-founders of No More Starving Artists Foundation. Podcast views for July totaled 174,416.

The clinic offered fundamental football instruction, conditioning exercises, and a variety of skillbuilding drills. In addition to athletic training, participants received valuable life guidance from the coaches and players. Each child also received a complimentary T-shirt and a photo opportunity with Obie the Orange, the Orange Bowl’s beloved mascot.

Jamaica’s National Team Training & Historic Media Day

NBA & International Stars. Global Talent. Cultural Celebration.

From July 28 to August 6, 2025, the Jamaica men’s national basketball team hosted its official FIBA World Cup training camp in Palm Beach County, utilizing Florida Atlantic University and St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton. The 12-man roster featured NBA guard Norman Powell of the Miami Heat, who embraced his Jamaican heritage by joining the national team for the first time. Other standout athletes included Jordan Kellier and several emerging talents, all guided by Head Coach Rick Turner, who emphasized team chemistry and flexibility heading into the 2025 FIBA pre-qualifying tournament in Mexico. The camp marked the first time in years the national team had gathered, setting a strong foundation for their 2027 World Cup and 2028 Olympic aspirations.

The event was supported by a powerful coalition of partners, including the Palm Beach County Sports Commission and global cultural icons through the Bob & Rita Marley Foundation. A special reception celebrating the team’s efforts and the strategic partnership between the Marley Foundation and Basketball Jamaica brought together community leaders and representatives from the Jamaican Ministry of Tourism. This collaboration elevated the event beyond basketball, positioning it as a meaningful platform for youth empowerment, cultural pride, and international engagement.

From a tourism perspective, hosting Jamaica’s national team offered a unique opportunity to showcase Palm Beach County as a premier sports destination. The influx of international athletes, media, and organizational staff generated local economic activity across hotels, restaurants, and transportation sectors. Furthermore, the branding alignment with the Marley legacy and sports tourism strategy helped solidify the Palm Beaches’ reputation as a global cultural and athletic hub. This training camp laid the groundwork for future international events, demonstrating the power of sport to bridge nations and generate tangible tourism impact.

The SoFi Center’s broadcast-ready, immersive, and tech-enabled infrastructure coupled with TGL’s proven national reach and timing make this venue a strategic launchpad for elevating WLD from niche showcase to mainstream televised sporting event.

New Facility Nears its Grand Opening in Palm Beach County

The Palm Beach County Sports Commission (PBCSC) conducted a site visit to the brand-new polo facility in Loxahatchee Groves, known as the Beldi Equestrian & Polo Club, in hopes of bringing new events to this premier venue. The Beldi consists of six polo fields in total five at the north location and one at the east location. The Beldi North facility spans sixty acres of field space and includes numerous box seating areas, the ability to cater food, a bar, and extensive parking While the facility is still under construction, it is expected to open its doors to outside events by 2026, following the end of its polo season, which runs from January to April. The PBCSC plans to utilize the Beldi Equestrian & Polo Club to host large-scale events that require multiple multi-purpose fields. Since one polo field can accommodate up to five multipurpose fields, the venue could potentially host twenty-five to thirty multi-purpose fields at once. The PBCSC has already brought the World Long Drive organization for a site visit and aims to build a strong partnership with the facility's owners.

LOGGERHEAD SHINES ON ABC’S WILDLIFE NATION

ABC’s Wildlife Nation with Jeff Corwin brought its cameras to Palm Beach County for its Expedition Florida series, spotlighting the vital sea turtle conservation work happening at Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) in Juno Beach. The episode, which showcased how LMC rescues, rehabilitates and releases endangered sea turtles along The Palm Beaches’ beautiful coastline, premiered in May.

In one moving moment, Corwin joins LMC’s team as they assess a green turtle, underscoring the human impact on wildlife, the urgency of conservation efforts and the need to preserve Florida’s marine ecosystems. “I always love working with Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Their critical efforts to save imperiled sea turtles is a game changer,” said Jeff Corwin. “So many folks come to beautiful Palm Beach County, Florida, for sun and fun, often not realizing that this pristine coast is paramount for the future of our planet's enigmatic sea turtles.”

Filmed with permitting and location support from the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission, this production demonstrates why the region continues to attract top-tier wildlife shows. The region’s natural beauty and biodiversity provide compelling stories that connect with viewers worldwide. Meanwhile, Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s work, also featured in the TV series Wild Palm Beaches, was recognized with a 2025 Silver Telly award in the Series Sustainability category. The episode, available to stream at The Palm Beaches TV, shares how local actions have far-reaching impacts on nature, inspiring audiences to play a role in preserving our oceans and the creatures that call them home.

Layla Rogan’s story of survival reached millions when ESPN ’s SportsCenter aired an SC Featured segment called Let Me Live. A Palm Beach Central High School student, Layla was 15 when she crashed an ATV in May 2022. Doctors gave her just 72 hours to live but she beat the odds. Filming for the nine-minute spotlight took place in August and October 2024 with assistance from the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission. Crews captured scenes at Palm Beach Central High School, along Forest Hill Blvd. in Wellington and at a local firehouse. Layla sustained more than 10 brain bleeds and other severe internal injuries. After weeks in a coma, Layla began showing signs of life. Today, she’s back in school and even cheerleading squad, inspiring everyone who has learned her story.

signed Florida’s $117B budget into law on July 1, maintaining support for tourism marketing. Early in the session, several bills proposed significant changes to how Tourist Development Taxes (TDT), commonly known as Bed Taxes, could be used. Thanks to advocacy by the Discover The Palm Beaches, PBC Legislative Affairs, and industry partners like Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and Destinations Florida, the tourism industry, which generated over $10B to the local economy last year and supported more than 90,000 jobs, was protected. “This success reflects months of coordination and the strength of our partnerships,” said Film Commissioner Michelle Hillery. The FTC will continue to monitor legislative developments ahead of the next session beginning January 2026, with committee weeks starting this October.

Production Activity Report

For June 2025

Variance Explanations

Percentage change variances of ± 10% in performance statistics are explained in this section.

1. Hotel Room Nights: The 22% decrease in Hotel Room Nights continues to be down due to the absence of three productions that significantly contributed to last year’s numbers. Notably, Circus Dog Productions utilized 99% fewer hotel room nights during their recent visit for the series House Hunters compared to the 400 room nights securedduringtheirshootinThePalmBeacheslastMay,whichwasakeyfactorinthe33%year-to-dateincrease we experienced at that time. Additionally, last year’s May totals were elevated by the televised American Cornhole League’s season kick-off event on CBS Sports Network , which generated 1,800 hotel room nights, and the Polo Docuseries by Boardwalk Pictures, which contributed an additional 450 room nights, both of which didnot return. Thecombinedabsenceandreducedactivityoftheseproductions account fortheroomnightdeficit observed year-over-year.

2. Total Leads: The 33% decrease in Total Leads is consistent with the usual slowdown that follows the wrap of several FTC/PBTV-sponsored productions, as many leads and conversions were already captured earlier in the year. Looking ahead, we expect lead activity to increase as multiple PBTV shows are set to return to production in Q3 and Q4. In the meantime, the team remains actively engaged in generating referrals, including continued support for WFLX FOX 29’s South Florida Daily Show

3. Lead Responses: "A 33% decrease in Lead Responses corresponds with the reduction in total leads received. With fewer leads coming in, there are naturally fewer chances to respond

4. Lead Conversions: A 47% decrease in Lead Conversions reflects the general decline in Total Leads during this period. However, focused lead management and outreach efforts have resulted in a steady 59% year-to-date conversion rate, with 49 out of the 83 leads generated in 2025 successfully turning into production business in Palm Beach County. This performance underscores thecontinued effectiveness ofour engagement strategies and positionsuswelltoreducethecurrentdeficitasnewopportunitiestogeneratereferralsforFTC/PBTV-sponsored projects develop in the months ahead.

5. Website Unique Visitors: A 34% increase in Website Unique Visitors reflects a softening in website visits, dropping seven percentage points from the previous months. Still, halfway through the year, there have been 10,000 more unique visitors to the PBTV and FTC websites in 2025 compared to last year, demonstrating the effectiveness of our digital marketing initiatives.

DEFINITE Room Rental by Month - FY 2025

July 2025 Project Status Report Department of Environmental Resources Management

Green Futures Summer Internship: The Green Futures internship provides 17 to 22 year-olds the opportunity to shadow ERM staff in their daily work Throughout the 6-week internship, five interns participated in activities like drone surveys to monitor beaches, reef monitoring at Peanut Island, petroleum storage tank removal inspections, species identification at mosquito control, and vegetation monitoring at natural areas The interns concluded the internship with a wealth of knowledge about the many ways to preserve, protect, and enhance environmental resources

SEA TURTLE HATCH SUCCESS EVALUATIONS

Learning new oyster monitoring methods: Staff joined the Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserve Office to learn about long-term oyster monitoring methods under development for a “Quick Assessment Guide.” This Guide will help resource managers continue monitoring efforts and verify the progress these reefs have made since monitoring began or since construction was completed Staff found these methods to be quick, easy and cost-effective and look forward to learning how to use them in Palm Beach County’s estuaries.

Sea Turtle Hatch Success Evaluations: During the summer, ERM staff and DB Ecological, Inc hosted public sea turtle hatch success evaluations Staff lead participants to a recently hatched nest to observe excavation and inventory of the nest. Attendees participate by filling out data sheets Occasionally, staff find live hatchlings, which are released in accordance with FWC procedures The evaluations provide crucial data for resource managers across local, state and federal entities and are a great opportunity to engage the public on sea turtle conservation.

TRACKING SWALLOWTAIL KITES

LEARNING NEW OYSTER MONITORING TECHNIQUES

Tracking Swallowtail Kites: ERM collaborated with the Palm Beach Zoo and Avian Research and Conservation Institute to deploy GSM/GPS-equipped cellular transmitters on three adult swallowtail kites The transmitters produce data that helps researchers learn about the kites’ nesting locations, home range, premigration sites, migration corridors, and more. The newly tagged birds, Luckey Buck, Martin, and Jupiter, are named after places near their tagging locations

GREEN FUTURES SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Summer Educator Workshop: ANGARI foundation, Manatee Lagoon, and Friends of John D MacArthur Beach State Park hosted a free workshop for educators that focused on the Lake Worth Lagoon. ERM provided more than 30 middle and high school teachers with hands-on immersive STEM education opportunities The group explored John D MacArthur Beach State Park by kayak, learned about ERM’s habitat restoration projects, and used seine nets to catch and observe marine life. This immersive experience helps local educators bring science to life in the classroom, furthering their students’ connection to the place they call home

Wildfire Mitigation at Natural Areas: Mechanical vegetation reduction took place on approximately 12 acres of Limestone Creek Natural Area to provide habitat enhancement and wildfire mitigation ERM prioritizes fire mitigation activities to help protect the community from uncontrolled wildfires This month, lightning started two wildfires in the Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area. ERM’s recent fuel reduction and firebreak maintenance at the site helped first responders safely gain access to remote areas of the fires and contain them quickly

Loxahatchee Slough Rookery: ERM staff documented another successful breeding season at the wading bird rookery in Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area 173 nests were observed in total, consisting of mostly little blue herons, tri-colored herons and cattle egrets, followed by snowy egrets and glossy ibis The successful season is a testament to ERM’s restoration efforts that provide critical habitat for wading bird species.

Aerial Mosquito Treatment Droplet Testing: ERM staff met with the contracted mosquito aerial control vendor to verify that the treatment equipment is functioning properly The application equipment delivers an ultra-low volume, droplet size treatment to control mosquitoes To test the equipment, treatment was sprayed via plane in an open area and droplets were collected on impingers that were later analyzed in the lab. Testing showed that the equipment is functioning as intended to deliver service effectively
