ՊՕՂՈՍ ԱՌԱՔԵԱԼԻ ԿՈՂՄԷ ՓԻԼԻՊԵՑԻՆԵՐՈՒՆ ԳՐՈՒԱԾ ՆԱՄԱԿԷՆ 1.1-11 Պօղոս եւ Տիմոթէոս՝ Յիսուս Քրիստոսի ծառաները՝ Քրիստոս Յիսուսով բոլոր սուրբերուն, որ Փիլիպպէի կողմերն են՝ եպիսկոպոսներով ու սարկաւագներով. շնորհք եւ խաղաղութիւն ձեզի Աստուծմէ՝ մեր Հօրմէն, ու Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոսէ: Շնորհակալ կ՚ըլլամ իմ Աստուծմէս՝ ձեզմէ ունեցած բոլոր յիշատակներուս համար, ամէն ատեն՝ ամէն աղերսանքիս մէջ: Ուրախութեամբ կ՚աղերսեմ ձեր բոլորին համար, քանի որ հաղորդակից եղաք աւետարանին՝ առաջին օրէն մինչեւ հիմա. այս մասին համոզուած եմ թէ ա՛ն որ սկսաւ բարի գործ մը ձեր մէջ, պիտի աւարտէ մինչեւ Յիսուս Քրիստոսի օրը: Իրաւացի ալ է ինծի այսպէս մտածել ձեր բոլորին մասին, քանի որ ձեզ ունիմ իմ սիրտիս մէջ՝՝, ու դուք բոլորդ հաղորդակցեցաք ինծի եղած շնորհքին՝ թէ՛ իմ կապերուս, թէ՛ ալ աւետարանին ջատագովութեան եւ հաստատութեան մէջ: Որովհետեւ Աստւած վկայ է թէ ո՛րքան կարօտցած եմ ձեզ բոլորիդ՝ Քրիստոս Յիսուսի գութով, ու սա՛պէս կ՚աղօթեմ՝ որ ձեր սէրը հետզհետէ աւելի առատանայ գիտակցութեամբ եւ ամբողջ դատողութեամբ, որպէսզի դուք զատորոշէք տարբեր բաները՝ անկեղծ եւ անսայթաք ըլլալու համար մինչեւ Քրիստոսի օրը, լեցուած արդարութեան պտուղներով Յիսուս Քրիստոսի միջոցով՝ Աստուծոյ փառքին ու գովութեան համար: ՂՈՒԿԱՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԷՆ 9.44-50 Բոլորը կ՚ապշէին Աստուծոյ մեծամեծ գործերուն վրայ: Մինչ բոլորն ալ կը սքանչանային Յիսուսի բոլոր ըրածներուն վրայ, ան ըսաւ իր աշակերտներուն. «Դուք այս խօսքերը ձեր մի՛տքը պահեցէք՝՝, որովհետեւ մարդու Որդին պիտի մատնը3

ւի մարդոց ձեռքը»: Բայց անոնք չէին հասկնար այս խօսքը, եւ անոնցմէ ծածկուած էր՝ որպէսզի չըմբռնեն. ու կը վախնային հարցնել իրեն այդ խօսքին մասին: Մտածում մըն ալ ծագեցաւ անոնց մէջ, թէ արդեօք ո՛վ է մեծագոյնը իրենց մէջ: Յիսուս ըմբռնելով անոնց սիրտին մտածումը՝ առաւ մանուկ մը, կայնեցուց զայն իր քով, ու ըսաւ անոնց. «Ո՛վ որ կ՚ընդունի այս մանուկը իմ անունովս՝ զի՛ս կ՚ընդունի, եւ ո՛վ որ զիս կ՚ընդունի՝ զիս ղրկո՛ղը կ՚ընդունի. որովհետեւ ա՛ն որ ամենէն պզտիկն է ձեր բոլորին մէջ, անիկա՛ պիտի ըլլայ մեծը»: Յովհաննէս ըսաւ. «Վարդապե՛տ, մէկը տեսանք որ դեւեր կը հանէր քու անունովդ, եւ արգիլեցինք զայն՝ քանի որ մեզի չի հետեւիր»: Յիսուս ըսաւ անոր. «Մի՛ արգիլէք, որովհետեւ ա՛ն որ մեզի հակառակ չէ, մեր՝՝ կողմէն է»: PHILIPPIANS 1:1-11 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons : Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. LUKE 9.44-50 “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.” But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”

“Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.”

“Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”

ԱՅՍ ԿԻՐԱԿԻ - THIS SUNDAY Հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցւոյ օրացոյցի համաձայն, այս Կիրակի 15 Նոյեմբերը Բարեկենդանն է Յիսնակի պահոց, իսկ բուն պահքի շրջանը կը սկսի Երկուշաբթի 16 Նոյեմբերին: Պահքի օրերուն հաւատացեալները կը հրաժարին կենդանական ծագում ունեցող ճաշերէն եւ կը սնուին միայն բուսական ուտեստեղէնով: Յիսնակը, 50 օրերու պահքի շրջան մըն է, որուն ընթացքին կը պատրաստուինք տօնելու Յիսուսի Ծնունդն ու Աստուածայայտնութիւնը, որ տեղի կ’ունենայ Յունուար 6-ին: Յունուար 6-էն 50 օրեր ետեւ հաշուելով կը հասնինք Նոյեմբեր 18-ին, հետեւաբար այդ թուականին ամենէն մօտ Կիրակին Յիսնակի Բարեկենդանն է: Բարեկենդան կը կոչուի պահքին նախորդող օրը: Հին շրջանին, Յիսնակի ամբողջ տեւողութեան պահք կը պահուէր, Ս. Յարութեան նախորդող Մեծ Պահքին նմանութեամբ: Սակայն ներկայիս, սովորական Չորեքշաբթի եւ Ուր-բաթ օրերու օրապահքերէն զատ Յիսնակի Պահքը կը կա-տարուի երեք շաբաթապահքերով: Շաբաթապահքերը սովո-րաբար կը սկսին Երկուշաբթի օրը եւ կը վերջանան Ուր-բաթ օրը: Այս տարի Յիսնակի 3 շաբաթահքերն են՝ • Յիսնակի առաջին շաբթուայ պահքը՝ Նոյեմբեր 16-20, • Ս. Յակոբի պահքը`Դեկտեմբեր 7-11, • Ս. Ծննդեան պահքը՝ Դեկտեմբեր 30- Յունուար 5: Յիսնակի պահոց շրջանը կ'աւարտի Յունուար 5-ին՝ Սուրբ Ծնունդի Ճրագալոյցի Պատարագով: 6

Today is the Eve (Paregentan) of the Fast of Advent (Hisnag).

The name Hisnag comes from the word “fifty”, because Advent is a 50 days long fasting period, which guides us up to the Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ. The fasting period begins on the Monday closest to November 18 (50 days before January 6 falls on November 18).

Unlike the Western tradition (25 days from December 1 to Western Christmas Day on December 25), the Armenian Advent extends for 50 days and concludes with the Christmas Eve Liturgy.

Traditionally, the entire fifty-day period of Advent has been a period of fasting. Now days, there are 3 week-long fasts during Advent (along with the regular fasting days of Wednesday and Friday). The three fasts and their dates for this year are as follows: •The Fast of Advent (Hisnagats Bahk), November 16-20 • The Fast of St. James (Sourp Hagopah Bahk), December 7-11 • The Fast of the Nativity (Dzenentots Bahk) starts on December 30 till the Christmas Eve Mass. ՊԱՀՔԻ ՄԱՍԻՆ Մարդիկ յաճախ կը կարծեն, թէ պահքը միայն կենդանական ծագում ունեցող ուտելիքներէ հրաժարիլն է: Բայց իրականութեան մէջ Պահքը ոչ միայն որոշակի սնունդէ ինքզինքը զրկելն է, այլ նաեւ ինքնամաքրման, աղօթքի, զղջումի մեր մեղքերը գիտակցելու եւ խոկումի շրջան մը: Պահքը նաեւ ինքզինքը հոգեկան ու բարոյական բոլոր տեսակի մոլութիւններէ, մեղաւոր միտքերէ ու խօսքերէ մաքրելն ու անվայել գործերէ իր անձը հեռացնելն է, եւ ապաշխարութեամբ Աստուածահաճոյ կեանքով ապրիլն է: ABOUT FASTING Often people think that fasting is merely a rejection of animal food, but in reality, it is a time to abstain from temptations, sinful thoughts and wrongdoings; time to cleanse our minds and hearts from fallacies; time to repent, pray and lead a virtuous life.

ՇԱԲԹՈՒԱՆ ՏՕՆԵՐԸ - FEASTS OF THE WEEK ՏՕՆ ԸՆԾԱՅՄԱՆ Ս. ԱՍՏՈՒԱԾԱԾՆԻ 21 Նոյեմբեր Նոյեմբեր 21-ին քրիստոնէական բոլոր եկեղեցիները կը տօնեն Ս. Կոյս Մարիամին նուիրուած 7 տօներէն մէկը՝ Տօն Ս. Ատուածածնի Տաճարին Ընծայման, որ անշարժ տօն է: Աւանդութեան համաձայն ` Ս. Տիրամօր երեք տարին լրանալէ ետք անոր աստուածավախ եւ բարեպաշտ ծնողքը` Ս. Յովակիմն եւ Ս. Աննան, իրենց ըրած ուխտին համաձայն, Ս. Մարիամը կ'ընծայեն տաճարին, ուր ան կ'ապրի մինչեւ նշանուիլը: Տօնի հաստատումը կ'առնչուի ան տաճարին հետ, որ Յուստինիանոս կայսր Ս. Մարիամ Աստուածածնի անունով կառուցած էր Մորիոյ բլուրին վրայ: Տաճարի նաւակատիքը եղած է 543 թ. Նոյեմբեր 21-ին: 638 թ. Յուստինիանոսի կառուցած տաճարը կը վերածուի մահմետական մզկիթի: Ս. Աստուածածնի ընծայման տօնը կը տարածուի ամբողջ քրիստոնեայ աշխարհի մէջ։ Հայ Եկեղեցին սկսած է զայն տօնել 18-րդ դարէն ի վեր:

PRESENTATION OF THE HOLY MOTHER-OF-GOD TO THE TEMPLE On November 21 the Armenian church and all traditional churches celebrate one of the seven Feasts commemorating the Holy Mother of God, The feast of Presentation of St. Mary to the Temple.

According to Tradition parents of Holy Mother of God, Joachim

and Anna prayed for years to have a child, and made a solemn promise, that if a child were born to them, the child would be dedicated to the service of God. God answered their prayers and a daughter was born to them. They named her Mary and did not forget their promise. When Mary was three years old, Joachim and Anna presented her to the Temple. Tradition tells us that she stayed there for about twelve years under the care of devoted women and maidens until she was betrothed to the carpenter named Joseph.
