ով, որ մեր ժառանգութեան գրաւականն է մինչեւ ստացւածքին ազատագրութիւնը՝ իր փառքին գովութեան համար: ՂՈՒԿԱՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԷՆ 8.17-21 Որովհետեւ չկայ գաղտնիք մը՝ որ բացայայտ պիտի չըլլայ, ո՛չ ալ պահուած բան մը՝ որ պիտի չգիտցուի ու երեւան չելլէ: Ուրեմն զգուշացէ՛ք թէ ի՛նչպէս կը լսէք. որովհետեւ ո՛վ որ ունի՝ պիտի տրուի անոր, իսկ ո՛վ որ չունի՝ անկէ պիտի առնուի նոյնիսկ ինչ որ ինք կը կարծէ թէ ունի»: Անոր մայրն ու եղբայրները եկան իրեն, բայց բազմութենէն չէին կրնար մօտենալ իրեն: Անոր լուր տուին՝ ըսելով. «Քու մայրդ ու եղբայրներդ դուրսը կայնած են եւ կ՚ուզեն տեսնել քեզ»: Ան ալ պատասխանեց անոնց. «Իմ մայրս ու եղբայրներս անո՛նք են, որ կը լսեն Աստուծոյ խօսքը եւ կը գործադրեն զայն»: EPHESIANS 1:1-14 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To God’s holy people in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will 4

according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

LUKE 8:17-21 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. Therefore, consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.” Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.” He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”

He is the Head of the Holy Orthodox Armenian Church that has 9 million followers in Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora. The Catholicos represents the central and supreme authority of the Arm. Church. He is the president of the following: The legislative body, the National-Ecclesiastical Supreme Spiritual Council and the Episcopal committee. It is His right and responsibility to Ordain bishops, Anoint the Holy Oil/Chrism, Proclaim holidays, Assemble the National-Ecclesiastical Conferences, Make decisions related to administrative issues and establishment of dioceses.

The Catholicos is elected by the National-Ecclesiastical Conferences and is anointed by 3 to 12 bishops for the duration of his life.

His title is Supreme Archbishop and Catholicos of All Armenians. The full title, however, is: HIS HOLINESS KAREKIN II SERVANT OF JESUS CHRIST, WITH THE MERCY OF GOD & THE WILL OF THE NATION ARCHBISHOP AND CATHOLICOS OF ALL ARMENIANS, SUPREME PATRIARCH OF THE ENTIRE NATION OF THE PREFERRED SEE OF ARARAD OF THE HOLY ORTHODOX MOTHER CHURCH OF ETCHMIADZIN In October 27, 1999, the National-Ecclesiastical Holy Conference elected Him as Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians and was ordained and anointed in November 4 of the same year.

Նոյեմբեր ամսուան առաջին կամ երկրորդ Շաբաթ օրը, Հայց. Եկեղեցին կը յիշատակէ Սրբոց Հրեշտակապետացն՝ Գաբրիէլի, Միքայէլի եւ Ռաֆայէլի, Սէրովբէից, Քերովբէից եւ ամենայն Երկնային Զօրացն տօնը: Հրեշտակ կը նշանակէ պատգամաւոր, առաքեալ՝ «ղրկուած» որոնք կ’իրականացնեն Տիրոջ կամքը: Հայ եկեղեցւոյ հրեշտակաբանութեան համաձայն՝ հրեշտակները անմարմին հոգիներ են, անսեռ եւ անմահ սպասաւորներ: Սուրբ Գիրքը կը վկայէ որ հրեշտակները անհամար են: Ս. Դիոնիսիոս Արիսպագացիին յայտնութեամբ տրուած է անոնց դասակարգումը: Անոնք ունին ինը դաս. Աթոռներ, Քերովբէներ, Սերովբէներ, Տէրութիւններ, Զօրութիւններ, Իշխանութիւններ, Պետութիւններ, Հրեշտակապետեր եւ Հրեշտակներ: Առաջին երեք դասը ամենէն մօտն են Աստուծոյ եւ անմիջականօրէն կը լեցուին Տէրոջմէ ճառագող շնորհներով: Յաջորդ երեք դասը միջին դիրք կը գրաւեն եւ իրենց շնորհիւ լոյսը կը ստանան առաջին դասերու միջոցաւ ու կը փոխանցեն վարիններուն: Վերջին երեք դասը առաւել մօտ են մեզի. վերեւի դասերէն կը ստանան շնորհ եւ զօրութիւն, որ կը փոխանցեն մեզ եւ կը սպասաւորեն ողջ մարդկութեանը, համաձայն վերէն տրուած հրաման8

ներու: Այս է պատճառը, որ մեզ առաւել յայտնի են ամենավերջին դասի հրեշտակապետերն ու հրեշտակները: Հրեշտակապետները ամբողջական ազգերու պահապաններ են, իսկ հրեշտակները՝ անհատներու: Ըստ Սբ. Գրիգոր Տաթևացիի իւրաքանչիւր մարդ ունի իր պահապան հրեշտակը,, որն անտեսանելիօրէն անդադար անոր բարի խորհուրդներ կը յուշէ եւ կը պահպանէ աղէտներէն: Աստւածաշունչին մէջ հրեշտակներու մասին ակնարկութիւնները շատ են, ուր անոնք Աստուծոյ ներկայացուցիչները կը նկատուին, միջնորդներ հոգեւոր եւ նիւթեղէն աշխարհներու միջեւ: Հրեշտակներէն մեզի ամէնէն աւելի ծանօթ են Գաբրիէլը, Միքայէլը եւ Ռափայէլը: Այս հրեշտակապետերը սովորաբար կը պատկերուին երիտասարդ տղամարդու տեսքով եւ երկթեւանի։ Գաբրիէլ Եբրայերէն կը նշանակէ «Աստուծոյ զօրութիւն», որուն վերապահուած է Տէրոջը խորհուրդները աւետելու շնորհը: Այս հրեշտակապետն էր, որ Սբ. Կոյս Մարիամին բարի լուրը հաղորդեց, իսկ Զաքարիային` Սբ. Յովհաննէս Մկրտիչի ծննդեան աւետիսը: Միքայէլ Եբրայերէն նշանակէ «Ո՞վ է Աստուծոյ նման» եւ կը մարտնչէ Տէրոջը փառքի և անոր ժողովուրդի պաշտպանութեան համար: Միքայէլ հրեշտակապետի անունը չորս անգամ վկայակոչուած է Ս. Գիրքին մէջ: (Դան. Ժ 13, ԺԲ 1, Հուդ. Ա 9, Հայտ. ԺԲ 7): 9

Իսկ Ռափայէլ Եբրայերէն կը նշանակէ «Աստուծոյ բժշկութիւն» եւ անիկա վեր կը հանէ մարդոց աղօթքները:

THE HOLY ARCHANGELS GABRIEL AND MICHAEL AND ALL THE HEAVENLY HOSTS

07 November On November 7, the Armenian Church celebrates the Feast of the Supreme Commanders Michael and Gabriel and of the other bodiless and heavenly hosts. The angels are immortal celestial beings, spiritual, independent, always moving, serving God. In Hebrew, the word 'Angel' means servants and messengers of God. According to Dionysius of Areopagus (Areopagite), there are nine orders of Celestial beings – the Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Powers, Authorities, Principalities, Archangels and Angels.

They are divided into three Hierarchies: – upper, middle, and lower.

In the Upper Hierarchy are included the three Ranks: The Seraphim, Cherubim and Thrones. The Middle Angelic Hierarchy consists of three Ranks: Dominions, Powers, and Authorities. In the Lower Hierarchy are included the three Ranks: Principalities, Archangels, and Angels.

Archangel is a title given to an angel of high rank in the celestial hierarchy and their names are given based on nature of their service.

The Archangel Michael, whose name in Hebrew means “who is like God,” is the leader of the celestial armies. He is considered to be the protector of Christians against the devil. In Christian art he is often shown with a sword and wearing an armor.

The Archangel Gabriel, whose name in Hebrew means “strength of God,” is one of God’s chief messengers. He was God’s messenger to Daniel to explain his vision (Dan. 8:16-26) and prophecy (Dan. 9:21-27). He also foretold the birth of John the Baptist to Zachariah and was chosen to announce St. Mary the forthcoming birth of Christ and that she will become the mother of Our Lord. (Luke 1:11-21). The Archangel Raphael, whose name in Hebrew means "ointment of God'', is known for his healing powers and he also carries our prayers to God.

ԳԻՏԷԻ՞Ր ԹԷ, Հայ եկեղեցւոյ պատմութեան մէջ հրեշտակներու մասին շատ յիշատակութիւններ կան, բայց անոնցմէ մեզի ամէնէն ծանօթը Սուրբ Գրիգոր Լուսաւորչի դէպքն է: Աւանդութեան համաձայն, Խոր Վիրապի մէջ իր բանտարկութեան երկար միջոցին, Ս. Գրիգորը կ'ընդունէր իր պահապան հրեշտակի այցելութիւնը: Նաեւ, հըրեշտակն է որ կը համոզէ Տրդատ արքայի քրոջը՝ Խոսրովադուխտին, թէ Վիրապ նետուած Գրիգորը դեռ ողջ է եւ միայն ան կարող է բուժել հիւանդ արքային։ Սբ. Գրիգորը իր որդւոյն՝ Արիստակէսին իրեն փոխանորդ նշանակելէն յետոյ, ինքը կը քաշուի լեռները։ Օր մըն ալ իր աղօթքներու մէջ կը խնդրէ Աստուծմէ, որ իր հրեշտակներէն մին ղրկէ իր մօտ, որպէսզի հարցումներով իմանայ, թէ մահանալէն վերջ արդարներու եւ մեղաւորներու հոգիները ո՞ւր կ'երթան, ի՞նչ ճամբայ կ'անցնին, եւ ի՞նչ կը պատահի անոնց այդ ճանապարհին։ Աստուած Սբ. Գրիգորի խնդրանքը կ'ընդունի եւ հրեշտակ մը կը ղրկէ անոր: Հրեշտակը մերթ ընդ մերթ Գրիգորին այցելելով՝ կը պատասխանէ անոր հարցումներուն: Իսկ Գրիգորը իր իմացածը կը պատմէր իր որդւոյն՝ Արիստակէսին, որ երբեմն իր մօտ այցելութեան կու գար։ DID YOU KNOW? There are many records in the history of the Armenian Church about angels. The most familiar of them is the story of St. Gregory the Illuminator, who was visited by his guardian angel while imprisoned in the pit. Also, it was God's angel who let the Princess Khosrondoukht know, that after 14 year of captivity in the pit (Khor Virab), St. Gregory was still alive and he was the one, who could cure the ailing King Tirdates.

After appointing his son Aristakes as the Catholicos, St. Gregory retired to the mountains, where he led a monastic life. Here, he prayed to God to send him an angel, that could answer his questions about what happens to souls of righteous and unrighteous after they die. God answered St. Gregory's prayer and sent him an angel. Occasionally visited by the angel, St. Gregory received the answers to his questions. Whatever he learned from the angel, St. Gregory passed to his son Aristakes, while he was visiting him in the mountains.

A coalition of 20+ Armenian churches, organizations, associations, political parties, and independent community leaders announce the formation of the United Armenian Council of Ontario (UACO), established on Sunday, October 11, 2020. UACO builds upon crosscommunity collaboration that has taken shape across the province over the past several years, especially since the centennial commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.

Now, at a time when our Armenian nation faces its biggest existential threat since the Genocide, Armenians around the world have come together to stand up for the survival of our people and our two Republics – Armenia and Artsakh. It is with this spirit that we announce the formation of UACO. On September 27, after Azerbaijan launched the war against Artsakh, the Armenian community of Ontario immediately mobilized across all fronts: securing humanitarian aid, fundraising, and raising awareness on social, political, and academic stages. UACO will enable the coordination of all activities in Ontario related to the war in Artsakh – coming together as one to ensure the survival of our people through peaceful means.

Broadly, the UACO’s mission will be to: • implement and realize projects of a pan-community nature, • encourage and assist projects which advance the collective interests and the rights of Armenian communities across Ontario, and • gather and apply the Armenian community’s resources for the benefit of the community’s interests as well as the welfare of the Republics of Armenia and Artsakh.

As we all know, unity is strength. The more we speak in one voice, the more powerful we become as a global nation. Together, we will ensure that what is just - human rights and the rights of the people of Artsakh will prevail. Together, we will be victorious.

OUR CHURCH HAS REOPENED Dear faithful, It is with a heart full of spiritual happiness we announce that based on the decision of Mr. Doug Ford, Ontario Premier, and the blessings of H.E. Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, Primate of the Armenian Church of Canada, Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church reopened its doors to the faithful on Sunday, June 14, 2020.

The church will be open for prayers and visits every: Sunday for Divine Liturgy, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. Live streaming will be available on the church Facebook page.

Wednesday, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, prayers for the recovery of those who are ill. Live streaming will be available on the church Facebook page.

Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, during the church office hours, for private prayers and lighting of candles.

In order to register names for baptisms, weddings, funeral services, as well as requiem and prayers for health or to visit the church office, you are kindly advised to contact the office beforehand: Tel.: 416-431-3001 ext. 226

ATTENTION We would like to draw your attention to the following important points: According to the decision made by the Provincial authorities, we will be able to admit only a limited number of faithful, in order to be able to apply all security measures: keeping 6 feet apart. Families living in the same household will be allowed to sit together; however, each person will be counted separately in the headcount. No handshakes and hugs, please.

All those who visit the church must wear a face mask. Please bring your own to help ensure supplies last.

A designated person will record the names of the visitors and escort them to their assigned seat.

The collection tray will not be passed but rather placed in the Church lobby, where people can make their offering on their way out.

All those in high risk groups are strongly urged to stay home.

You cannot enter the Church if any of the following applies to you: 1. a family member or anybody in your immediate surrounding has any of the symptoms listed below or has tested positive for Covid-19; 2. have fever; 3. have a cough; 4. have a sore throat; 5. have loss of taste or smell; 6. traveled outside the province of Ontario APPRECIATION We extend our thanks to the deacons and the members of the church choir, who voluntarily participated in the ceremonies during these difficult times and to you, dear faithful, for your patience, prayers and your donations to support the mission of our Church.

Նահանգային կառավարութեան առած որոշումին համաձայն, առայժմ մենք արարողութիւններուն պիտի կարենանք սահմանափակ թիւով հաւատացեալներ ընդունիլ, ապահովութեան բոլոր միջոցները կիրառելու համար, 6 ոտք հեռաւորութիւն պահելով։ Ընտանիքներ, որոնք նոյն յարկին տակ կը բնակին, կրնան միասին նստիլ, բայց իւրաքանչիւր անձ իբրեւ առանձին թիւ պիտի նկատուի հաշիւին մէջ։ Ձեռնուիլ եւ փաթթուիլ պէտք չէ ըլլայ։ Բոլոր անոնք որոնք եկեղեցի կ'այցելեն, պարտին դիմակ կրել։ Հաճեցէք միշտ ձեր անձնական դիմակները հայթայթել։ Նշանակուած անձ մը ձեր անունները պիտի արձանագրէ եւ ձեր տեղերը առաջնորդէ։ Պատարագի դրամահաւաքի պնակը չպիտի դարձուի, այլ պիտի դրուի եկեղեցւոյ նախասրահի մէջ, ուր ելլած ատէն պիտի կարենաք ձեր նուէրները դնել։ ԶԳՈՒՇԱՑՈՒՄ Բոլոր այն անձերը որոնք հիւանդանալու բարձր կարելիութիւն ունին նախընտրելի է որ տունը մնան։ Եկեղեցի չէք կրնար մտնել եթէ հետեւեալ կէտերէն որեւէ մէկը կը կիրարկուի.
