ԳՈՐԾՔ ԱՌԱՔԵԼՈՑ 1.15-26 Այդ օրերը՝ Պետրոս կանգնեցաւ աշակերտներուն մէջ, (հաւաքուած բազմութիւնը հարիւր քսան հոգիի չափ էր,) եւ ըսաւ. «Մարդի՛կ եղբայրներ, պէ՛տք էր որ իրագործուէր այն գրուածը, որ նախապէս Սուրբ Հոգին ըսեր էր Դաւիթի բերանով՝ Յուդայի մասին, որ առաջնորդ եղաւ Յիսուսը բռնողներուն. որովհետեւ ան մեզի հետ՝ մեր համրանքէն էր, եւ բաժին վիճակուած էր անոր այս սպասարկութենէն: Ուրեմն ասիկա տիրացաւ ագարակի մը՝ անիրաւութեան վարձքով, ու գլխիվայր իյնալով՝ մէջտեղէն ճեղքուեցաւ, եւ իր բոլոր աղիքները դուրս թափեցան: Երուսաղէմի բոլոր բնակիչները գիտցան այս բանը, այնպէս որ այդ ագարակը կոչուեցաւ իրենց բարբառով Ակեղդամա, այսինքն՝ Արիւնի ագարակ: Որովհետեւ գրուած է Սաղմոսներու գիրքին մէջ. “Անոր բնակարանը ամայի թող ըլլայ, եւ անոր մէջ ո՛չ մէկը բնակի”, նաեւ. “Անոր պաշտօնը ուրի՛շը առնէ”: Ուրեմն պէտք է որ այս մարդոցմէն՝ որոնք մեզի հետ էին այն ամ-բողջ ժամանակը, երբ Տէր Յիսուս մտաւ ու ելաւ մեր մէջ, Յովհան-նէսի մկրտութենէն սկսեալ մինչեւ այն օրը՝ երբ համբարձաւ մեզմէ, ասոնցմէ մէկը մեզի հետ վկայ ըլլայ անոր յարութեան»: Ուստի երկու հոգի կայնեցուցին, Յովսէփը՝ որ Բարսաբա կը կոչուէր եւ Յուստոս մականուանուեցաւ, ու Մատաթիան, եւ աղօթելով՝ ըսին. «Տէ՛ր, դուն որ կը ճանչնաս բոլորին սիրտերը, յայտնէ՛ մեզի թէ ո՛ր մէկը ընտրեցիր այս երկուքէն. որպէսզի բաժին առնէ այս սպասարկութենէն ու առաքելութենէն, որմէ Յուդա ինկաւ՝ երթալու համար իր տեղը»: Եւ անոնց համար վիճակ ձգեցին, ու վիճակը ելաւ Մատաթիայի. եւ ան համրուեցաւ տասնմէկ առաքեալներուն հետ: 3

ՄԱՐԿՈՍԻ ԱՒԵՏԱՐԱՆԷՆ 16.2-8 Մէկշաբթի առտուն՝ շատ կանուխ, երբ արեւը կը ծագէր, գացին գերեզմանը, ու կ՚ըսէին իրարու. «Մեզի համար ո՞վ պիտի գլորէ քարը՝ գերեզմանին դռնէն», որովհետեւ շատ մեծ էր: Բայց նայելով՝ տեսան թէ քարը գլորուած էր: Մտնելով գերեզմանէն ներս՝ տեսան երիտասարդ մը, որ նստած էր աջ կողմը՝ ճերմակ պարեգօտ հագած, եւ զարհուրեցան: Ան ալ ըսաւ անոնց. «Մի՛ զարհուրիք. Յիսուս Նազովրեցի՛ն կը փնտռէք՝ որ խաչուեցաւ: Ան յարութի՛ւն առաւ, հոս չէ: Ահա՛ այն տեղը՝ ուր դրին զայն: Ուրեմն գացէ՛ք, ըսէ՛ք անոր աշակերտներուն ու Պետրոսի՝ թէ ահա՛ ձեզմէ առաջ կ՚երթայ Գալիլեա. հո՛ն պիտի տեսնէք զայն՝ ինչպէս ըսաւ ձեզի»: Անոնք՝ դողով եւ հիացումով համակուած՝ դուրս ելան՝՝ ու փախան գերեզմանէն, եւ ո՛չ մէկ բան ըսին ոեւէ մէկուն, քանի որ կը վախնային: ACTS 1:15-26 In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty) and said, “Brothers and sisters, d the Scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus. He was one of our number and shared in our ministry.”

(With the payment he received for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)

“For,” said Peter, “it is written in the Book of Psalms: “‘May his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it,’ and, “‘May another take his place of leadership.’

Therefore, it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus was living among us, beginning from John’s baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection.”

So they nominated two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. Then they prayed, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.” Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.

MARK 16:2-8 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’”

Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

ԱՅՍ ԿԻՐԱԿԻ - THIS SUNDAY ՃՐԱԳԱԼՈՅՑ ԵՒ ՏՕՆ Ս. ՅԱՐՈՒԹԵԱՆ Յիսուս Քրիստոսի հրաշափառ Յարութեան տօնը կը կոչուի նաեւ Ս. Զատիկ, որ կը նշանակէ զատում, բաժանում, հեռացում մեղքերէն եւ ապա վերադարձ առ Աստուած: Զատիկը Հայ Առաքելական Սուրբ Եկեղեցւոյ 5 տաղաւար տօներէն մէկն է: Ս. Յարութեան տօնի նախընթաց երեկոյեան եկեղեցիներուն մէջ կը մատուցուի Ճրագալոյցի Ս. Պատարագ: Ճրագալոյցին բացառաբար Ս. Պատարագը կը մատուցւի Շաբաթ երեկոյեան, որ կը կոչուի նաեւ Խթում: Հայց. եկեղեցւոյ մէջ տարին միայն 2 անգամ կը մատուցուի երեկոյեան Ս. Պատարագ՝ Ս. Ծննդեան եւ Ս. Յարութեան տօներուն նախորդող օրը: Պատարագէն յետոյ կը կատարուի յաջորդ օրուայ նախատօնակը, որով կը կանխուի Մեծ Պահքի եւ Աւագ Շաբթուայ շաբաթապահքի շրջանը: Ըստ եկեղեցական կարգի, եկեղեցական օրը կը փոխուի երեկոյեան ժամերգութենէ յետոյ, ուրեմն Ճրագալոյցի Ս. Պատարագէն վերջ արդէն Մէկշաբթի կամ Կիրակի է եւ վերջ կը գտնէ նաեւ 48 օրեայ պահքը: Ապա ընտանիքները կը հաւաքուին աւանդական ընթրիքի՝ միասին դիմաւորելու մեր Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոսի Հրաշափառ Յարութիւնը: Կիրակի առաւօտեան կը կատարուի ժամերգութիւն, Անդաստանի արարողութիւն, ապա կը մատուցուի տօնական Ս. Պատարագը: Սուրբ Յարութեան տօնին հաւատացեալները իրարու կ' ողջունեն. «Քրիստոս Յարեաւ Ի Մեռելոց» 6

«Օրհնեալ է Յարութիւնն Քրիստոսի»: Զատկուայ տօնին հաւատացեալները հաւկիթ կը ներկեն յատկապէս կարմիր գոյնով: Ներկուած հաւկիթը կը համարուի Յարութեան եւ նոր կեանքի խորհրդանիշ: Կարմիր գոյնը խորհրդանիշն է խաչեալ Յիսուսի փրկչագործ արեան, որ յեղուեց յանուն մարդկութեան փրկութեան: Յիսուս Քրիստոսի հրաշափառ Յարութեան տօնը Հայ Եկեղեցին կը նշէ յիսուն օր ՝ մինչեւ Հոգեգալստեան տօնը: Այս կը կոչուի Յինանց շրջան կամ Յինունք: Յիսուս ըսաւ անոր. «Ե՛ս եմ յարութիւնն ու կեանքը: Ա՛ն որ կը հաւատայ ինծի, թէեւ մեռնի՝ պիտի ապրի. Եւ ո՛վ որ կ՚ապրի եւ կը հաւատայ ինծի, յաւիտեա՛ն պիտի չմեռնի: Դուն կը հաւատա՞ս ասոր»: (Յովհ.11:24-26)

EVE OF FEAST OF THE HOLY RESSURECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST AND HOLY EASTER The Feast of the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ or Easter is one of the five tabernacle feasts of the Armenian Church.

Accordingly, on Easter Eve( Holy Saturday) the Jrakalouyts Divine Liturgy is celebrated in churches, which commemorates Christ’s destruction of hell and His liberation of righteous souls. Usually, the Divine Liturgy in Armenian church is celebrated on Sundays, but twice a year on the Eves of Holy Nativity and the Holy Resurrection the Liturgy is celebrated on Saturday night.

The Feast of the Holy Easter is preceded by a long period of fasting, the Great Lent and the weeklong fast of the Holy Week. According to traditions of Armenian church, the new day (Easter 7

Sunday) begins following the Jrakalouyts Evening Service, which means after the Divine liturgy the 48 days long fasting is over.

After the Jrakalouyts Mass people gather together at a dinner table with friends and family , to celebrate the Holy Resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

On Easter Sunday, a morning service is conducted, the Andastan Service is performed where the four corners of the world are blessed and the Divine Liturgy is celebrated. On Easter the faithful welcome each other on the occasion of the Glorious Resurrection of Christ: Greeting: “Christ is Risen from the dead” Answer :“Blessed is the Resurrection of Christ.”

The most popular custom associated with Easter is dying the eggs especially in red, which symbolizes the colour of blood that our Lord shed for the salvation of humankind. Children would also play a game of cracking Easter eggs.

Following Easter a fifty-day period of Hinounk begins, which concludes on the feast of Pentecost. This period is dedicated to the mystery of Resurrection of the Lord, and is a Dominical period.

‘I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’

(John 11:24-26) ԳԻՏԷԻ՞Ր ԹԷ Աւագ Շաբաթ օրը Հայկական տարբեր շրջաններու մէջ սովորութիւն էր առտուընէ մինչեւ երեկոյեան Ս. Պատարագը ծոմ պահելը: Մարդիկ ներկայ կ'ըլլային Խթման Պատարոգին եւ Ս. Հաղորդութիւն ստանալէ ետք միայն ուտելիք կը ճաշակէին: Հայց. Առաք. եկեղեցին Զատիկը միշտ կը տօնէ Մարտի 22-էն մինչեւ Ապրիլի 25-ը ինկած ժամանակահատուածին: Oրը կ'որոշուի գարնանային գիշերահաւասարի օրուան ամէնէն մօտ լիալուսնին յաջորդող Կիրակի օրը: 8

Հայկական տարբեր շրջաններու մէջ Ս. Յարութեան տօնը կը կոչուի Մեծ Զատիկ, իսկ Փոքր Զատիկ կը կոչեն Ս. Ծնունդի Տօնը: DID YOU KNOW? In some regions of Armenia, there was a tradition to fast all day (no food or drink) on Holy Saturday till the Jrakajouyts Mass. Only after receiving Holy Communion during the Mass the would eat.

The Armenian Church celebrates the Easter Feast on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the vernal equinox, with 35 days moveability, Easter can fall between March 22 and April 25.

In some parts of Armenia, the Easter is called Medz Zadig, and the feast of Nativity and Theophany is called Bezdig Zadig.

ՅԻՍՈՒՍ ԵՒ ԹՈՎՄԱՍ Բայց տասներկուքէն մէկը, Երկուորեակ կոչուած Թովմաս, անոնց հետ չէր, երբ Յիսուս եկաւ: Ուրեմն միւս աշակերտները ըսին անոր. «Տէ՛րը տեսանք»: Ան ալ ըսաւ անոնց. «Պիտի չհաւատամ, եթէ չտեսնեմ գամերուն տիպը՝ իր ձեռքերուն վրայ, ու չմխեմ մատս գամերուն տիպին մէջ, եւ չմխեմ ձեռքս անոր կողին մէջ»: Ութ օր ետք՝ դարձեալ աշակերտները ներսն էին, Թովմաս ալ՝ անոնց հետ: Յիսուս եկաւ՝ թէպէտ դռները գոց էին, կայնեցաւ անոնց մէջտեղ եւ ըսաւ. «Խաղաղութի՜ւն ձեզի»: Յետոյ ըսաւ Թովմասի. «Հո՛ս բեր մատդ ու տե՛ս ձեռքերս, բե՛ր ձեռքդ եւ մխէ՛ կողիս մէջ, ու մի՛ ըլլար անհաւատ, հապա՝ հաւատացեալ»: Թովմաս պատասխանեց անոր. «Իմ Տէ՜րս եւ Աստուա՜ծս»: Յիսուս ըսաւ անոր. «Դուն հաւատացիր՝ որովհետեւ տեսար զիս. երանի՜ անոնց որ կը հաւատան՝ առանց տեսնելու»: (Յովհ. 20.24-29) 9

JESUS APPEARS TO THOMAS Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20.24-29)

Զատիկը: Շաբաթ երեկոյեան կը մատուցուի Ճրագալոյցի Ս. Պատարագը եւ աշխարհի քրիստոնեաներու ուշադրութիւնը ուղղուած կ'ըլլայ դէպի Սուրբ Երկիր՝ Երուսաղէմ, ուր Յարութեան տաճարին մէջ հազարաւոր հաւատացեալներ անհամբեր կը սպասեն Սուրբ Կրակի յայտնըւելուն: Կրակը կը խորհըրդանշէ Քրիստոսի Յարութեան անձեռագործ լոյսը, որու մասին ըսած է Պետրոս առաքեալը: Այս տարի եւս Տիրոջ Սուրբ գերեզմանի տաճարին մէջ բազմահազար հաւատացեալներ ականատես դարձան ամէն տարի կրկրնուող զատկական այս հրաշքին` Սրբագործ կրակի վայրէջքին: Կրակը յայտնուեցաւ Տիրոջ գերեզմանի տաճարի ներսի մատուռին մէջ` աղօթքի ընթացքին, քարէ դամբարանին վրայ, ուր խաչելութենէ յետոյ հանգչած էր Քրիստոսի մարմինը: Քանի որ հայերը հոս իրաւատէր են, ուստի կրակը դուրս բերելու իրաւունքը հայերունը ու յոյներունն է: Հայ եւ Յոյն հոգեւորականները նախ մէկը միւսին կը փոխանցէ Տիրոջ Յարութեան աւետիսը, ապա գերեզմանի երկու կողմի պատուհաններէն՝ ձախ կողմէ հայ հոգեւորականը, աջ կողմէ՝ յոյնը, Սուրբ Կրակը կը փոխանցեն տաճարի բակը համախմբուած հաւատացեալ ժողովուրդին: Երուսաղէմէն Սուրբ Կրակը կը տարուի նաեւ ուղղափառ երկրներու մայրաքաղաքներ: 11

Քրիստոնէական աւանդապատումներու համաձայն, եթէ կրակը չյայտնուի, ապա կը նշանակէ թէ Աստուած երեսը թեքած է մարդկութենէ: Ամէն տարի Յարութեան տօնին Մայր Աթոռ Ս. Էջմիածնայ պատւիրակութիւնը կը մասնակցի Ս. Կրակի իջեցման արարողութեանը:

FEAST OF HOLY EASTER IN JERUSALEM This year the Armenian Apostolic, the Orthodox, Catholic Christians and other Christian denominations will celebrate the Easter on April 24.

In Old Jerusalem, on Saturday night the pilgrims wait for the divine Easter miracle of Holy Fire at the recently renovated Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The decent of Holy Fire is a miracle that occurs every year the day preceding Easter. The ceremony takes place in the most venerated place for all Christians the tomb of Jesus Christ at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. It is conducted by the Greek and Armenian Orthodox churches, and begins with the extinguishing of all lights in the church.

The Greek Patriarch and the Armenian Patriarch, or their representatives, enter the Holy Tomb, kneel down in front of the Tomb, pray and wait for the miracle of the descent of the Holy Fire.

After a tense wait, a flame suddenly appears. They lit candles and pass out of holes on either side of the tomb to torch-bearers from the Greek and Armenian churches through two windows located in the wall of the Angel’s Chapel. The pilgrims from around the world light up candles, lamps and torches from it.

"We believe that on this day, the Holy Fire descends from heaven and lights up the lamp within the Tomb of Christ, thereby symbolizing the resurrection of Christ and his victory over death," the Armenian Patriarchate notes. The descent of fire from heaven is one of the greatest miracles of Christianity.

According to new reports, this year as well, the Holy Fire descended in the tomb of our Savior, where His body was placed after Crucifixion. ֍ 12

Book of Hours Dear faithful, Today Resurrected Jesus addresses each one of us and says, «I am the resurrection and life. He who believes in me shall live, even though he dies. And he who is alive and believes in me, shall never die. Do you believe what I say?»

Let us join Martha and respond to our Lord, «Yes, Lord, I believe You are Christ, the Son of God, who was to come to earth.»

My dear faithful, filled with the love and faith in the Resurrection, we address every one of you, especially those who are sick, suffering and are discouraged, and we say, Christ has Risen from the Dead.

Our beloved faithful, may the light of the Resurrection of Christ renew you and strengthen your faith. Remember that the Cross is not only a sign of torture, but in fact, in the battle of darkness and death, it is the holy sign of light and victory over death. Today, our victorious Lord Jesus Christ addresses us with the following words: «Do not fear, only believe.»

On the Holy feast of Easter, I pray to our Resurrected Saviour, beseech Him and say, «Lord, bless and protect my people, keep our homeland Armenia and Artsakh in Your Divine peace, protect them under Your Holy Cross from wars and attacks of enemies, because You are our Saviour and hope, and all glory and honour be unto You, forever and ever, Amen.»
