A few words about KitAid

KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd).

After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world.

How to donate

If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home.

Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible.

We thank you for all your support.

In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come.

St Panteleimon History

St. Panteleimon FC (nicknamed “The Saints”) was established within the Greek Orthodox Community in Harrow - NW London in 2015, to create a sporting and family-based team. Our philosophy is the provision of a safe and supportive community setting, encouraging skills development, fitness, fair play and teamwork.

As of April 2018, St. Panteleimon FC achieved The FA Charter Standard Club Award, presented by the Middlesex FA, now England Football Accredited.

We strive to provide an inspirational and motivational environment where preparation, practice and hard work generate legitimate opportunities for success, while emphasising the importance and development of fundamentals and techniques necessary for positive experiences in football and in life, creating a consistently exciting and entertaining programme that generates a wave of support, pride, and tradition for our entire community to share.

The Team was blessed by His Eminence Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain. Our team competed in the Cypriot KOPA League for two seasons, winning the double in 2016, as Second Division champions and Cup winners. In the 2017-18 season the “Saints” entered the English Football Association system, joining the Middlesex County Football League Division 1, and were promoted as undefeated Champions!

The 2018-19 season proved even more successful with the Saints claiming the Middlesex County Football League Premier Division Double registering only one loss for the entire year, winning the Championship and the Cup! We were also honoured to participate for the first time in our early history in the FA Vase, reaching the first-round proper, after succeeding in the first two qualifying rounds.

With four successive promotions, St Panteleimon FC have risen to Step 5 and play in the Cherry Red Combined Counties Premiership and look forward to the challenges ahead.

Cockfosters 5 Leverstock Green 2

Leverstock Green’s wildly fluctuating league form continued as they followed up last week’s big win over Baldock with another heavy defeat away to Cockfosters. The scoreline doesn’t really reflect the difference between the sides, but Leverstock were guilty of too many mistakes at the back, and most were punished by a Cockfosters side showing some clinical finishing.

There was little sign of what was to come during an opening 15 minutes of evenly contested football that had forced neither keeper into a serious save. However, in the 16th minute a cross from Antonio Michael found Ethan Rookard all alone at the far post to head Cockfosters into a 1-0 lead.

Leverstock were making little headway against a solid Cockfosters defence. Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica twice managed to spring the offside trap but both times ended up with his back to goal and unable to get a shot in. In the 29th minute Leverstock had a free kick in a dangerous position 20 yards out, but Danny May’s effort was blocked by the wall. Three minutes later Leverstock finally broke through the home defence as Ademide Baruwa curled a cross into the box and Stefanoaica got on the end of it to stab home the equaliser. Having fought their way back into the match, a momentary lapse in concentration saw them fall behind again before the break. The ball was given away just outside the Leverstock box, and the defence was left completely flat-footed as Reece Barratt threaded a pass through to Ethan Rookard, who slotted the ball past Josh Bowler for his second goal in the 39th minute. Cockfosters might have added a third late in the half but for a headed clearance off the line from Rio Beach.

The game was still delicately poised going into the second half, and Leverstock certainly had more of the ball in the opening stages. Cockfosters might have added a third goal on 51 minutes but were denied by a double save from Bowler. The third goal was on its way, though, and when Cockfosters broke away in the 58th minute, a slip from May left Harrison Rookard through on a goal to hit a shot which somehow squirmed through Bowler’s hands for a 3-1 scoreline.

It went from bad to worse for Leverstock in the 63rd minute as Cockfosters cut through the Green defence with a passing move before Michael curled a shot into the top corner for an impressive fourth goal, and again in the 69th minute as another defensive mistake was pounced on by Harrison Rookard and finished by Michael for his second. Leverstock pulled a goal back in the 75th minute as George Mitchell-Gears took advantage of confusion between Jay Lovell and keeper Charlie Mann to slot into an empty net, but it was little more than consolation. George Lutaaya should have added a sixth for Cockfosters in the 87th minute, left through on goal by yet another muffed defensive header, but he somehow shot over the bar from a couple of yards out.

Leverstock will need to turn things around quickly before the visit of St Panteleimon to the Lords Builders Merchants Stadium on Tuesday night. Saints were beaten by Leverstock on the opening day of the season but have since gone on a winning run to lead the table by five points.

Hitchin Town 1* Leverstock Green 1

Leverstock Green suffered a heart-breaking exit from the Herts Senior Cup at the first-round stage on Monday night. Going into stoppage time they were a goal up against Southern League Premier side Hitchin Town, but a last gasp equaliser sent the tie to penalties, which Hitchin won 4-3 despite the heroics of keeper Josh Bowler.

Leverstock played well from the outset and had the better of a first half which saw little in the way of clear-cut chances or saves despite some promising attacking play. Leverstock’s best chance came in the 33rd minute when a pass from Ademide Baruwa set Ethan Mooney clear to deliver a ball to the far post which found Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica, but Leverstock’s top scorer pulled his shot across goal. At the other end Hitchin had a couple of shots off-target, but nothing to seriously trouble Bowler.

By contrast, the second half saw bags of goalmouth action at both ends. Three minutes in, a corner from Dan Pett found Callum Neal at the near post with a glancing header that hit the far post. A minute later at the other end a Hitchin cross hit the post and rebounded quickly towards an attacker who could only help the ball back in to the arms of Bowler. In the 61st minute a pass from Baruwa put Jayden Newman in with a chance but his shot was just wide. A Hitchin corner in the 69th minute resulted in a goalmouth scramble that included a goal line clearance and an incredible save from Bowler.

Another Hitchin corner in the 73rd minute resulted in a goal, but it was Leverstock who scored it with a lightning break. Rio Beach played a ball out of defence for Stefanoaica to chase, and after leaving a defender in his wake, Stefanoaica squared for Luke Beckwith, who took a touch before slotting home a shot five minutes after coming off the bench.

Stefanoaica might have added a second goal in the 83rd minute with a run at goal but sent his shot over the bar. Two minutes from time Hitchin sub Isaac Galliford had a clear shooting chance on the edge of the box and aimed his shot for the top corner, but Bowler pulled off an unbelievable save to tip it over the bar.

It looked like that save might be the game winner as the game went into stoppage time with Leverstock still leading. However, in the third minute of stoppage time Hitchin broke down the left, and a ball into the box found Temi Akinbusoye sliding in to net the equaliser from close range. Hitchin might even have won it with Leverstock surviving further goalmouth scrambles in the dying seconds.

The game went into a penalty shoot-out. Jack Snelus led off for Hitchin with a successful kick, while Ethan Mooney’s opening kick for Leverstock was saved by keeper Charlie Horlock. Galliford made it 2-0 to Hitchin before Beckwith pulled one back. The door was opened when Kavan Cotter blazed Hitchin’s third out of the ground, but Rio Beach saw his kick hit the bar. The door remained open when Bowler pulled off a great save to keep out Hitchin’s fourth from Bradley Bell, and Scott McGleish levelled the shoot-out at 2-2 after four each. It was 3-3 after Akinbusoye and Stefanoaica were both successful with their kicks. Bowler got very close to saving Hitchin’s sixth kick, but it crept just inside the post, and when Mikey Havill -Tierney’s effort was saved by Horlock it was all over with Hitchin winning the shootout 4-3.

Despite the final outcome the Leverstock side should feel very proud of an outstanding performance from start to finish against a team who play two levels higher.

Development & U18’s Team News

Leverstock Green Development got their first home win of the season on Tuesday night as they progressed to the second round of the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy with a 4-3 win over Apsley Argyle.

The opportunity was taken to field three first team players who have been short on action recently. Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica opened the scoring in the 16th minute with an assist from Callum Neal. George Mitchell-Gears made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute, assisted by Martin Kirov, and Kirov added the third goal on 25 minutes before Apsley pulled a goal back two minutes later.

In the 59th minute Leverstock had a penalty, but Stefanoaica’s kick was saved, and he miskicked the rebound wide. Kirov scored the fourth goal on 65 minutes to put the match away – or so it seemed until Apsley pulled it back to 4-2 in the 85th minute and made it 4-3 deep into stoppage time, but Leverstock held out for the win.

Leverstock Green Under-18s won their second straight match by a big score, following up last week’s 41 win over Dunstable with a 5-0 win away at Buckingham F.C. on Thursday night. A 31st minute goal from Shay Kelly had Leverstock 1-0 up at half time, and Kelly added goals on 50 and 56 minutes to complete his hat-trick. Jamie McIntosh returned to the side off the bench and scored the 4th on 71 minutes, and after Buckingham had a player sent off, James Renton completed the rout with the fifth goal in the 88th minute.

Leverstock Green’s under-18s were unable to follow up on their previous two games, which produced six points and nine goals, as they fell to a home defeat against Winslow United on Thursday side. Jamie McIntosh gave Leverstock a 1-0 lead from the penalty spot in the 13th minute, but Winslow equalised three minutes later and took the lead in first half stoppage time. Winslow added two further goals in the second half and continued their perfect start with three wins from three games.

Leverstock Green 5 Baldock Town 1

Leverstock Green got back to winning ways with an emphatic 5-1 win over Baldock Town in Saturday’s SSML Premier Division fixture. It was the first home game since the untimely passing of club secretary Dean Bradford, and Dean was remembered with a minute’s applause before the game.

The Leverstock squad had seen some changes over the last week, with goalkeeper Josh Bowler brought in to cover for the injured Austin Byfield, transferring from today’s opponents Baldock. Striker Chris Blunden decided during the week that he wanted to move on, but Fergus Moore had a ready-made replacement with Rawn Seale returning to the club, having been top scorer during season 2021/22. George Mitchell-Gears returned from a three-game suspension, but Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica was still unavailable. For their part, Baldock travelled with a depleted squad and had a very young side out today.

Leverstock started the game positively and were soon in front. In the 7th minute Seale made a run into the box before squaring. Rio Beach’s shot was parried by keeper David Archer, but MitchellGears followed up to net the rebound. Four minutes later the lead was doubled. Seale laid the ball off to Luke Beckwith 30 yards out, and Beckwith did the rest, running at the defence before hitting a powerful low shot into the corner of the net that gave Archer little chance.

Beckwith was in again in the 20th minute, running on to a great ball from the back from Danny May, but Archer did well, coming off his line to block Beckwith’s shot. Leverstock had a free kick in a dangerous position three minutes later, but Dan Pett’s effort flew over the bar.

The third goal arrived in the 32nd minute, thanks to great work by Seale, who got to the bye-line and pulled the ball back into the six-yard box where Mitchell-Gears stabbed it home for his second of the game.

It was 3-0 at half time, but Baldock were denied a goal back in the opening minute of the second half by a superb save from Bowler, tipping a goal bound shot over the bar. Instead, it was Leverstock who got the next goal, as Beach crossed for Seale to come in and slot home in the 53rd minute for a 4-0 lead.

With a comfortable lead, Leverstock took the opportunity to rest some players with Monday night’s Herts Senior Cup tie at Hitchin in mind, and there was a first team debut for Development Team striker Michael Adriano. All five substitutes were used, and it was one of them – Ethan Mooney –who added the fifth goal in the 78th minute with an outrageous strike from the left edge of the penalty area into the top corner of the net.

However, the clean sheet was not to be, as Baldock pulled a goal back a minute later with an equally impressive strike from Archie O’Brien, giving Bowler no chance from 30 yards out. To their credit, the Baldock side kept battling until the end.
