We're targeting discrimination in football. Can you help?

We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination in football. We’re calling on clubs and leagues like your own to report hate, prejudice or discrimination whenever you see it or hear it.

For those people who behave in a racist, sexist or homophobic way, the message is clear. Enough is Enough.

When we know it has happened, we can take the actions needed to remove discriminatory behaviour. We'll be doing so through a range of punishments:

• Players will be removed from play and suspended.

• Teams can have points deducted.

• Grounds can be closed for repeat offenders.

Together we can end hate in football.

Spread the word that discrimination of all forms will be punished. Share with your welfare officers, league and club officials, and everyone across your league and clubs.

We want everyone across grassroots football to know...

Thame United Club History

Thame United were formed in 1883 making it one of Oxfordshires' oldest clubs. The early years were spent in various Oxfordshire Leagues and in 1906, 1909 and 1910 Thame won the Oxfordshire Senior Cup and the Senior League in 1907,1908, 1910, 1930 and 1931. A switch to the Hellenic League then brought further success culminating in the Hellenic League title in 196162 and 1969-70, as well as being runners up in 1960-61, 1976-77 and 1980-81. The Oxfordshire Senior Cup was won in both 1976 and 1981 but a poor spell in the mid eighties preceded a crossing of the pyramid in 1988-89 to join the South Midlands League. The Club finished runners up in both 1988-89 and 1989-90 before eventually winning the title in 1990-91.

Thame received the green light to join the Diadora League in 1991/92. 1994-95 saw the Club win the Division 2 Championship with 93 points - an 11 point margin. In 1995/96 the Club reached the 3rd Round Qualifying in the FA Cup and the FA Trophy. In the league we finished a creditable 13th in our first ever season in the Isthmian League Division One. Andy Sinnott was appointed first team manager in June 1997 and, with a dramatically reduced operating budget, the side were relegated into Ryman Division Two. The Club bounced straight back into Ryman Division One and reached the semi- finals of the FA Vase.

200/2001 season the team lead the way for most of the season, putting together a club record of 12 consecutive league wins but a slump in form in the latter part of the season resulted in a 5th place finish. A mid-table finish followed in 2001/2002 season but the Oxfordshire Senior Cup was retained. Mark West was appointed player/manager when Andy left United during the Summer of 2003. in October 2003 the Club reached the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time in its history, before being beaten 1-2 by Conference side Farnborough Town.

After a mid-table finish the Club moved to the newly formed Southern League, Division 1 West. In October 2004 the Club again reached the FA Cup 4th qualifying round and finished the season 11th in the league. Mark West left to join Slough Town and defender Tony Joyce was appointed player manager.By July 2005 the Club were in financial trouble and, following a visit from Bailiffs acting on behalf of HMRC, the landlord enforced a clause in the tenancy agreement and evicted the club from Windmill Road. However, shortly thereafter Thame United reached a formal agreement with the new owners of Windmill Road that secured £1.7 million to enable a new facility to be constructed, on Church farm on the edge of the town Whilst the Club progressed procurement of the new site and the necessary planning permission, a ground share agreement was reached with neighbours Aylesbury United .

With the side struggling at the foot of the Southern League Division 1 West, Tony Joyce resigned in December 2005, with a new joint managerial partnership of Richard Searl and Alan Thorne appointed. Relegation to the Hellenic League was confirmed later in the season. A ground share agreement was reached with AFC Wallingford for the 2006/07 season. Mark West returned to the Club mid-way through the season but could not save the Club from relegation to the Hellenic League Division 1 East. The 2007/08 season provided greater stability for the Club, with Mark West and new assistant, Frank Thompson, looking after first team affairs. 2009/10 saw the Club win the Division 1 East title by six points and reclaim their place in the Premier Division.

The 2010/11 season was the most significant in the Club’s recent history. With work on a new £3.1m ground at Meadow View Park commencing in March 2010, United returned to Thame at the ASM Stadium on 11 December 2010, just over five years after their enforced eviction from the town. Boasting eight pitches, a floodlit 3G training pitch and 8000 sqft clubhouse, United now have one of the best sporting facilities in the County. The official opening against Oxford United on 18th January 2011 set a record crowd of 1,382. Season 2016-17 was one of the most successful in the recent history of the Club. Going the whole league season without losing at home, United were crowned Hellenic League Premier Division Champions. United were duly promoted to the Southern Football League East Division, returning after a spell of twelve years away. In the first season back at Step 4. In 2018/19 United secured an 8th place finish in the new Division 1 Central with the side occupying a mid-table position when the 2019/20 season was curtailed due to the pandemic.

The 2020/21 season was curtailed due to the pandemic, with only seven league matches completed before the league was again halted.Prior to the 2021/22 significant enhancements were completed to Meadow View Park, including a new full-size 3G training pitch, together with associated organisational changes. Last season, after a slow start, United finished eighth in Division One Central, and until the final month of the season were within touching distance of a play-off place. 2022/2023 the team struggled towards the bottom of the table but an unbeaten run in April saw the team win all matches and climb to a respectable 12 in the table. Whilst a successful run in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup rounded off the season being crowned champions beating Oxford city in the final 4 -1. At the end of the season after a number of years Mark West and his management team left the club. Ben Williams formally of Aylesbury United was appointed to guide the club through the 2023/2024 season.

2023 /2024 was a difficult season, new manager Ben Williams joined the club with pre season about to start and had to work hard to bring in players. The team spent most of the team fighting at the bottom of the table, which resulted in the team finishing second from bottom of the table, this did not reflect the overall performances with many games Thame were well in contention. With a number of step 3 teams dropping out of the league, Thame gained a reprieve from relegation due to the teams having the best points per game over the season, of all the step four clubs who finished second from the bottom. But it wasn’t all bad with the team reaching the Oxfordshire Senior Cup final for the second season running and coming away with a 3 - 2 victory against Kidlington, lifting the cup for the second consecutive season.

It’s that time of year again where we dust down the famous National Game Awards glass decanters and prepare to celebrate the big winners of the 2024-25 season – and we need your votes and nominations!

With plenty still to play for, of course, this year’s NGAs are very much up for grabs but our inbox is starting to fill up with some great suggestions and picks.

The NGAs will be held at AFC Wimbledon’s Plough Lane Stadium on Wednesday May 14. Once again, we are delighted to confirm that Isuzu UK have agreed to become title sponsors again, adding The NGAs to their current sponsorship of Non-League’s two premier cup competitions, the FA Trophy and FA Vase.

Isuzu UK continue to be a driving force behind grassroots football in the community with a large number of dealerships from all over the country becoming actively involved in their local clubs.

We remain proud and hugely grateful for their support and look forward to working closely with the Isuzu UK team when it comes to selecting the winner of our muchloved Unsung Hero Award.

The NGAs have become a Non-League institution over the years – and that’s thanks largely to the strong backing it receives – without this, we simply couldn’t honour the great and good of the Non-League game with our now iconic decanter, provided once again by our friends at Supreme Engraving.

This year, we introduce to you a brand new award. With social media having an ever increasing presence in bringing football clubs closer to their communities, we have created a Digital Media Award to honour those who have provided the best content over various media platforms.

We are also delighted to welcome The Sports Circle to this year’s event. They will be honouring the Player of the Year for their outstanding contribution this year.

UK teamwear and clothing company Moving Forward Sports are back for a second season; Community Club of the Year award is their category.

Huck Nets have once again put their name to the Goal of the Season accolade, while Reusch are also back —

they couldn’t wait to once again get their hands on the sponsorship for this season’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Sports Ground Development are back to present the Manager of the Year award, while the Team of the Year Award will be as hotly contested as ever.

Our friends at Sportsbeat sign up once again – they didn’t need asking twice to support the Young Player of the Year, while SK Kits will honour Non-League’s top goal getter with the Golden Boot award.

The NLP Lifetime Achievement award is one of our personal favourites, while The Football Supporters’ Association Away Day Experience of the year recognises the efforts clubs make to cater for travelling fans.

The FA are also back on board to acknowledge the winner of the Cup Run of the Year, judged on the FA Cup, Trophy and Vase. Tamworth and Sittingbourne, in particular, will fancy their chances there.

The Step 3&4 Player of the Year will be hotly contested as well with so many in so many staking their claim across those divisions.

A few words about KitAid KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd).

After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world.

How to donate

If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home.

Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible.

We thank you for all your support.

In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come.

Alan Lee Reporting

Leverstock Green 2 VS North Leigh 0

Leverstock Green boosted their survival hopes with another three points, notching their first back-to-back league wins of the season against North Leigh. Leverstock had much the better of the game against their visitors, who are already doomed to finish bottom of Division One Central, but they had to be patient for their goals after a number of near-misses.

Leverstock had their first chance to open the scoring when they were awarded a penalty in the 17th minute after a cross from RaduMihai Stefanoaica was deflected wide by a defender’s hand. Stefanoaica took the penalty himself, but it was not a good kick and keeper Drew Brei was able to get down and save it, and save the follow-up effort from Stefanoaica.

In the 28th minute Kyle Connolly stepped up to take a free kick in a dangerous position just outside the box. His effort had Brei beaten but came back off the post. Connolly was denied by a save from Brei in the 37th minute, and was unlucky again two minutes later when he hit another well-struck free kick but this time hit the bar. Finally in first half stoppage time Leverstock made the breakthrough. Marcus Warren’s corner found its way to the far post where Callum Neal bundled the ball home for his second goal in two games.

Leverstock continued to be in control in the second half, and added a second goal in the 62nd minute. A corner was headed back by Neal into the path of Dan Weeks, and the skipper hit a superb volley into the net to give his side some breathing space. There were fewer chances in the second half, but Rawn Seale was unlucky on two occasions late in the game, having a shot turned round the post by Brei in the 78th minute, and hitting the bar with an overhead kick in stoppage time.

Leverstock Green U18s 2 VS Colney Heath U18s 0

Leverstock Green’s Under-18s finished their season with an excellent result as they beat SCFYL Delphian Division title hopefuls Colney Heath 2-1 at the Lords Builders Merchants Stadium. A win for Colney would have clinched the title, but goals from Josh Weidner and Shae Robinson had Leverstock 2-0 up at half time, and although Colney pulled a goal back in the second half, Leverstock held on for the win.

Alan Lee Reporting Leverstock Green 1 VS Northwood 0

It was a must-win game for Leverstock Green against relegation rivals Northwood, and Callum Neal’s second half goal ensured that the three points were duly taken. The win moves Leverstock out of the Southern League Division One Central relegation zone on goal difference, with five games to play.

The whole Leverstock team put in a tremendous shift with a strong, disciplined performance against a dangerous Northwood side that had scored five goals in their previous game. There were some early chances for the Green side. In the 4th minute Jeffrey Sekyere won a header in the box to set up Luke Beckwith with a chance, but he shot into the side netting. Three minutes later Beckwith was in on goal again from an Ademide Baruwa pass, but visiting keeper Dan Hosier turned his shot wide. In the 10th minute Sekyere had a shooting chance from close range but it took a deflection off a defender and went just over the bar. In the 35th minute Callum Neal connected with a volley from the edge of the box that went across goal and wide.

The second half saw Northwood attacking down the slope, and in the 53rd minute Samuel Folarin had a run at goal but his shot was saved by Ryan North. Two minutes later came the crucial moment as Leverstock were awarded a free kick midway inside the Northwood half. Kyle Connolly floated in a perfect delivery which Neal met on the edge of the area with a thumping header that beat Hosier to open the scoring.

There were chances for Leverstock to extend their lead. In the 67th minute a long-range shot from Dan Pett was turned wide by Hosier. Three minutes later Rawn Seale hit the bar with a header from a corner. In the 73rd minute a quick break saw Pett feed the ball out wide to Seale, who ran on to put over a cross which found Sekyere with a header that went wide.

There was still only a single goal in it as the game went into stoppage time, which made for a very tense finish. There was a heart-stopping moment when Omar Rowe had a shooting chance from the edge of the box, but North pulled off a great save to keep it out, and eventually the referee blew for time and Leverstock had their three points.

Alan Lee Reporting Flackwell Heath 3 VS Leverstock Green 1

Leverstock Green made a bright start in their visit to playoff-chasing Flackwell Heath on Saturday, but an early red card made the game much tougher and eventually the home side came through to beat Leverstock’s ten men. There were a few key players missing from the Leverstock side, including Jeffrey Sekyere, who had been recalled by Wealdstone, but deadline day signings Tomasz Siemienczuk and Aaron Burton were both in the starting lineup. It was Burton, signed on work experience from Watford, who got Leverstock off to a great start with a goal on his debut in the 4th minute. After Dan Pett’s free kick into the box was not cleared, Burton hit a shot from the edge of the box which took a deflection and looped over the keeper into the net.

However, four minutes later Leverstock’s ranks were reduced. Wiktor Makowski took advantage of a short goal kick to go through on goal. Ademide Baruwa’s challenge from behind brought Makowski down just outside the box, and although there were possibly two covering defenders, Baruwa was shown a red card. Leverstock could have had a penalty shortly afterwards when Siemienczuk appeared to be fouled in the box, but the referee gave a free kick the other way. Leverstock defended well to maintain their lead until the 30th minute, when Jack Shakespeare hit a fierce shot from outside the box which gave Ryan North no chance and levelled the scores.

Flackwell could have gone in front three minutes before the break when Edward Lee was through on goal, but his shot hit the post and the rebound went straight into North’s hands.

The scores were level going into the second half, but two early goals put the home side in the driving seat. In the 50th minute a cross to the far post found Lewis Patrick all alone to shoot Flackwell into the lead, and three minutes later Patrick found the net again, cutting in from the bye-line to hit a shot from a narrow angle which looped over North.

Leverstock had another penalty appeal for a clear handball turned down later in the half, but they were unable to create any chances to get back into the game, while some last-ditch interventions at the other end prevented Flackwell from adding to their score.

Leverstock now face Northwood at home in a crucial game on Tuesday night, with the three clubs competing for the one place of safety now separated by three points after today’s results.
