We're targeting discrimination in football. Can you help?

We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination in football. We’re calling on clubs and leagues like your own to report hate, prejudice or discrimination whenever you see it or hear it. For those people who behave in a racist, sexist or homophobic way, the message is clear. Enough is Enough. When we know it has happened, we can take the actions needed to remove discriminatory behaviour. We'll be doing so through a range of punishments: • Players will be removed from play and suspended. • Teams can have points deducted. • Grounds can be closed for repeat offenders. Together we can end hate in football. Spread the word that discrimination of all forms will be punished. Share with your welfare officers, league and club officials, and everyone across your league and clubs. We want everyone across grassroots football to know...

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. TELL US, WE’LL TACKLE IT.

https://kitaid.net A few words about KitAid KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd). After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world.

How to donate

If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home. Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible. We thank you for all your support.

In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come. Jane Bateman, Head of International Relations, The Football Association

Milton Keynes Irish FC History

On June 1st 2020 the club was formed when Milton Keynes Robins, Unite MK and Milton Keynes Irish Veterans joined together to operate as one club going into the 2020-21 season, Milton Keynes Irish FC! Our first season as a club was unfortunately brought to an early finish due to the effects of COVID-19. The 2020/21 season was looking to be very promising as we found the first team sitting second in the SSMFL Division 1 table after 9 games played with the best PPG in the league and went on an exciting run in the FA Vase which saw us get knocked out in the 3rd round on penalties after advancing through 4 rounds beating three higher league opposition. The season was officially curtailed, however due to performances under Milton Keynes Robins, the club earned promotion to the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division (Step 5) based on PPG over the previous 2 seasons. The first team are back now playing at Step 5 in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division, after one season in the United Counties Premier League South in 2022-23 finishing in 5th position, the reserve team were playing in the UCL Reserve Division also finished in 5th position in 202223 and have moved over to SSMFL Division 2 for the 2023-24 season. The Veterans are playing in the Milton Keynes Veterans League Division One, were triple champions in the 2022-23 season and have been unbeaten in the league for the past 4 seasons. 2021 saw the addition of a Southern Counties U18 Floodlit Midweek team and also had youth teams coming over to join under the MK Irish banner from Scot FC, in 2023-24 the club has 8 youth teams spanning from U9 to U18 in the Milton Keynes & District Development League and an U10s Girls in the Bedfordshire Girls League.

Alan Lee Reporting Leverstock Green 1 Dunstable Town 0 Leverstock Green notched up another win on Tuesday night as a single goal was enough to get them past Dunstable Town to reach the third round of the Gladwish Challenge Trophy. It was a very wet night which made conditions difficult for both sides, but the pitch held up well and it was an enjoyable end-to-end game, albeit with few clear chances at either end. Leverstock’s best moment of the first half came in the third minute when a deep cross from Dan Weeks just eluded Rawn Seale coming in at the far post. Dunstable’s nearest miss came in the 18th minute when Harry Beaumont turned on the edge of the six-yard box but hit his shot across goal and wide. The rain got increasingly heavy during the half, but the effort of both sides could not be faulted. The rain eased off a little as the second half got under way, but the players were still having difficulty keeping their feet at times. Dunstable had a good moment in the 57th minute when Kelvin Osei-Addo went on a run which took him past a couple of Leverstock defenders, but his eventual shot went just over the angle of post and bar. The goal which decided the game came in the 64th minute. A cross from the left caused something of a goalmouth scramble in the Dunstable box, and it was Rawn Seale who got the decisive touch with a shot that found the net. Dunstable were unlucky not to equalise five minutes later when Alfie Osborne hit a fine strike from distance, but it skimmed the crossbar. Dunstable keeper Alex Desmond had to leave the game with a head injury 15 minutes from time, but his replacement Connor Coulson was not seriously troubled, any more than Josh Bowler was at the other end. Leverstock are now into the last 16 of the competition, where they have a home tie against Division One leaders Northampton ON Chenecks on a date to be advised. Leverstock Green (0) 1 (Seale 64) 1. Where a Club finishes in 1st position but does not meet the minimum criteria for promotion to the next Step (which shall include being awarded a Grade 5 following an independent ground grading inspection), the Club finishing in 2nd position shall be promoted and the Club finishing in 3rd position (and so on) shall be the Club in the next eligible position to take part in the Play Off Matches. Where a Club finishes in a Play Off Position but does not meet the Criteria for participation in Play Off Matches, the Club finishing in the next eligible position shall take part in the Play Off Matches. In each division at Step 5, the Play Off Matches shall be played so that the highest placed of the eligible Clubs plays against the lowest placed of the eligible Clubs and the other two eligible Clubs play each other. The ties will be played on a single match basis with the home Club being the Club with the best points per match ratio in the Regular Season. If there are only three eligible Clubs, then the highest placed eligible Club shall receive a bye and play the winner of the other Play Off Match, and the winner of that match will be promoted. Clubs finishing below 7th position will not be eligible to take part in Play Off Matches.

Development & U18’s Team News Leverstock Green Development had their second win on the trot with a good 1 – 0 win over London Lions Development. Dylan Duane-Berry was our goal scorer. This win takes us up to 14th in the league table. Leverstock Green Development pulled off an impressive 4-1 win away to Hinton in today’s Herts Senior County League Premier Division match. Jamie McIntosh scored twice, with Joe Dalli and Schilo Kanda adding the other goals. It was a third straight league win for Andy Murray’s side. The Development Team made it four games unbeaten with a 0-0 draw against Apsley Argyle at Vauxhall Road on Saturday.

There was late heartbreak for the Under-18s, as they came very close to ending the 100% record of Tring Athletic in Thursday night’s SCFYL Corinthian Division game but were beaten by a goal deep into stoppage time. Tring had won their opening four league games, as well as having a long run in the FA Youth Cup, and they took an early lead. However, Stan Kenyon equalised for Leverstock in the 14th minute. The score remained a 1-1 until the 4th minute of stoppage time when Tring scored a winner. Leverstock Green’s Under-18s earned their fourth league win of the season and their first of 2024 on Thursday night. After a goalless first half, goals from Alex King and Oscar Martin put Leverstock into a 2-0 lead. Kings Langley pulled a goal back, but a further goal from Tom Rutherford sealed a 3-1 win. A second half goal from Oscar Martin earned a point for Leverstock Green U18 against Leighton Town U18 in Thursday night’s SCFYL Corinthian Division game at the Lords Builders Merchants Stadium. Leighton had taken the lead in the 9th minute, but Martin’s 55th minute goal levelled the scores.

Leverstock Green History

Leverstock Green FC was formed around 1895. The first match reports appeared on January 4th 1896 in the Advertiser and gave an account of a match against Hemel Hempstead Rovers. The first competitive fixtures were reported during season 1908/1909 when the Club competed in Division Three of the West Herts League. Other clubs competing in the league at that time were: Abbots Langley, Bovingdon, Boxmoor, Bushey Heath, Hagden Lane, Kings Langley and Potten End. The Club ground in Pancake Lane originally formed part of the Gorhambury Estate, Lord Verulam making the ground available for the youth of the area and his estate workers to enjoy a game of ball. Clearly Lord Verulam was an early enthusiast, providing timber-built changing rooms, which have been progressively replaced since the 1960s by the existing brick-built clubhouse and changing rooms. On the death of the Lord, certain parcels of land, including that on which the Football Club stood, fell to the Crown in lieu of death duties and is administered on its behalf by the Commission for New Towns, who have remained the Clubs landlords since that time, despite two unsuccessful attempts by the Club to buy the freehold. Leverstock Green FC remained members of the West Herts League until 1954 when it broadened its horizons and successfully applied to join the Herts County League. By the mid 1970s the Club started to move forward with a new clubhouse, post & rail, and the installation of training lights. The playing side of the club also improved and in 1979 the club won Division One of the Herts County League and were promoted to the Premier Division – the highest standard the Club had achieved in 80 years. In 1991 Leverstock Green FC were accepted into the South Midlands League and had two highly successful seasons in the Premier Division before being forced to drop into the Senior Division, as floodlights were then not available. In 1996 the club finished in runners-up position and the following season were the divisional champions but could not be promoted because floodlights had still not received approval from the Council. Premier Division status was eventually regained in 2003, and the club is now the longest-standing current member of the division. The club’s highest finish in the Premier Division has been 4th, in season 2010/11, with top six finishes also being recorded in 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2008/09.

Season 2010/11 also saw the club’s best ever run in the FA Vase, with wins over Welwyn Garden City, Enfield, Hullbridge Sports, Tunbridge Wells and Bemerton Heath Harlequins before defeat in the Fifth Round against Rye United. The club has twice reached the Third Round of the FA Vase, in seasons 2006/07 and 2018/19. Leverstock Green FC entered the FA Cup for the first time in 2004, and the club’s best performance has been reaching the Second Round Qualifying, which was achieved in 2014/15, where we were beaten by Staines Town, and in 2018/19 where we were beaten by Dorking Wanderers. County honours were won in 2006/07 and 2010/11 as the Herts Charity Shield was lifted, and the club were beaten finalists in the Herts Charity Cup in 2011/12. After finishing runners-up four times over the previous 12 years, The West Herts FA St Mary’s Cup was finally lifted for the first time in 2017/18 with victory over Berkhamsted in the final at Vauxhall Road. Between 2005 and 2015 the club ran a successful Ladies’ Team, which rose from the Beds and Herts League into the Eastern Region Womens League, reaching the Premier Division in 2013. The under-18 side competes in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League. The team finished runners-up in their division in seasons 2010/11 and 2014/15, and in 2015/16 they reached the final of both the Brian Hitchings Cup and the Colwyn Cup, losing in both finals to Luton Town Cedars. Many players have made the step up from under-18 level to first team level, and those who have gone on to play much higher up the non-league pyramid include Charlie Gorman (Eastbourne Borough), Luke Warner-Eley (Royston Town, St Albans City) and Jonathan Lacey (Hemel Hempstead Town) who also represented the England non-league side in the Falklands while a Leverstock Green player. The Pancake Lane ground has seen many improvements due to ever more stringent ground grading requirements. In 2007 the Peter Metcalfe changing rooms were built at a cost of £90,000. 2008 saw the refurbishment of the clubhouse to include new toilets and a new hospitality suite. In 2009 the concrete walkway was completed to cover three sides of the ground and a seated stand accommodating 113 spectators was installed. Season 2018/19 was one of turmoil and sadness, as long-serving fixture secretary Graham Smart passed away suddenly only weeks after taking on the role of interim chairman. A season which promised so much at the start ended with the club only securing Premier Division safety on the final day. Emma Smart took over as chairman for season 2019/20, and with a new management team and a new spirit of optimism the club was on course for a safe mid-table finish before the season was brought to a premature end by Covid-19. The management team of Matt Harding and Mick Vipond continued into the 2020/21 season, which again came to a premature end. For season 2021/22, a new management team of Fergus Moore, Scott McGleish and Paul Marks was appointed. Fergus and Scott continued through season 2022/23 and won their first

silverware for the club with a 1-0 win over Tring Athletic in the final of the West Herts St Mary’s Cup. Fergus and Scott are joined by former Under-18 manager Ross Bargent for season 2023/24, and the club has also started a Development Team this season, which will be playing in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division. Four club stalwarts have received awards from the Football Association and the Herts FA for 50 years’ service to football. The first was Jim Matthews, affectionately known as “Macca”, who passed away at the age of 90 in 2006. The second was Bill Dawes in 2014, and the third was longserving club secretary Brian Barter in 2019. Brian stood down from his role as secretary in 2020, having twice been honoured with awards from the Spartan South Midlands League. The fourth to receive the award was vice-chairman and treasurer Tony Smart in 2023.
