A few words about KitAid

KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd).

After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world.

How to donate

If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home.

Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible.

We thank you for all your support.

In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come.

Baldock Town History

Following the demise of the original Baldock Town FC in 2001 the new Baldock Town were formed from the Baldock Town Youth FC as an outlet for youth squads in 2003. The new Baldock Town played its first competitive match in September 2003 in the North Herts League at ‘The Shed’ on Clothall Road, Baldock. The match was against Magnum with a Rob Foster hat-trick sealing a 5-1 win. The club then progressed from the North Herts League to the Herts Senior County League (HSCL). The 1st Team won Div 1 of the HSCL in their debut season in 2007/2008.

For three seasons from 2008 the team played its home matches on at the County Ground, Letchworth but they returned to Baldock to play at their old ground in Norton Road now known as the North Herts Arena.

After three near misses the 1st Team finally won the HSCL Premier Division title in 2012. Unfortunately, due to ground grading issues the team were unable to take their place in the Spartan Southern Midlands League (SSML).

In order to achieve its ambition of playing at the highest possible level the Team were forced to move to ground share with Hitchin FC. The club finished in second place the following season, but this proved to be good enough to secure that elusive promotion to the SSML. The side, managed by former player Scott Grant, also won the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy for the first time and retained the Anagram Records Trophy.

The next two seasons saw a period of consolidation for the 1st Team as they finished 7th and 10th, respectively, in SSML Div 1 (Step 6 on the Non-League pyramid). After three seasons at Hitchin the club moved to share with Stotfold FC. Luke Gregson then took over in 2015, following Grant’s resignation, and assisted by Dean Gilbert the team then went on a superb run and ended up just missing out on promotion. The 3rd place finish was the highest placing in their recent history.

The 2017-18 season proved to be momentous as Baldock Town continued to progress and finished second in Div 1 and were duly promoted to the SSML Premier Division. The team continued with its run of excellent form and finished in 5th place in their first season in the SSML Premier Division. The following season Baldock managed to get to 12th position before the season was prematurely ended as Covid 19 started to take hold. Luke Gregson decided to step down at the end of that season and Adam Fisher took over as Manager, assisted by Rob Bates. Baldock only managed 12 games in the 2020-21 season as Covid-19 pandemic eventually won and the League was abandoned. Rob Bates took over as Manager during the summer of 2021 and started the season with some great Cup performances but failed to turn that into League form. Rob Bates has since resigned, and Dave McAdam is currently Managing the Team. The Team currently ground share with Arlesey FC.

Crawley Green 3 Leverstock Green 0

It was another disappointing afternoon for Leverstock Green FC as they exited the Isuza FA Vase at the Second Qualifying Round stage. Leverstock played well overall, and had more of the ball than opponents Crawley Green, but seem to be lacking confidence in front of goal at the moment and were hit by goals against the run of play.

Manager Fergus Moore rang the changes after last week’s defeat at Potton, with three of the back four from that game being dropped to the bench. Luke Durnin and new signing Sean McGuinness came into a back five. Leverstock started the game well, with early shots from Chris Blunden and Rio Beach bringing comfortable saves from home keeper Tiernan Parker. There was a blow for Leverstock in the 15th minute, though, as keeper Austin Byfield had to go off with a groin injury that is likely to keep him out of action for several weeks. Development Team keeper Jamie Donovan came off the bench for his first team debut.

There was little action for either keeper for the remainder of the half. Leverstock had some promising attacks, but too often there was a reluctance to shoot from good positions on the edge of the box. A minute before the break Leverstock Green FC conceded a somewhat harsh free kick just outside their own box. It appeared that the Crawley player simply ran into Ryan Carruthers rather than any intent on Carruthers’ part. However, the home side took full advantage as Joe Hankins lifted the free kick over the wall and out of Donovan’s reach to send his side into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Again, there were promising signs from Leverstock in the early stages of the second half. Within thirty seconds of the restart a long-range shot from Dan Pett was turned round the post by Parker. Danny May hit a shot just wide in the 50th minute. All the pressur e was coming from the Leverstock side, but they were hit by a sucker punch in the 58th minute. Crawley broke away from a Leverstock corner, and the ball was pulled back from the bye-line to find Zion SelassieYoseph, who smashed home the second goal.

Lewis Collins came on as an extra attacker, and delivered a great cross in the 79th minute, but Pett’s header went over the bar. Leverstock Green FC continued to push forward and have more of the ball, but they were unable to get any change out of the Crawley defence, and the game was put out of their reach in the 86th minute as a mistake from Donovan gifted a third goal to Franklin Ojumobi.

Leverstock Green 1 Dunstable Town 3

A poor second half saw Leverstock Green FC slide to a home defeat against Dunstable Town in a game which they ended with ten men. Leverstock failed to capitalise on a strong start to the game and suffered their first home league defeat of the season.

After some promising build-up play early in the game, Leverstock took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to another combination of their front two. Chris Blunden played a great pass which allowed Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica to outpace the last Dunstable defender before taking the ball round the keeper and slotting home.

The visitors should have been level three minutes later when a misunderstanding between Austin Byfield and Callum Neal left Tolu Ikuyinminu with a shot at an empty net, but his shot went wide. However, on 30 minutes poor defending was punished when three chances were missed for Leverstock Green FC to clear the ball from the edge of their own penalty area before Kyle Faulkner took advantage to shoot home the equaliser.

Following the equaliser Leverstock’s play dropped off, and this continued into the second half as they seemed unable to get their forwards into the game. Dunstable had the ball in the net with a looping header in the 54th minute, but it was disallowed for offside.

A change in the 60th minute saw Lewis Collins replace Luke Beckwith, and four minutes later Collins produced Leverstock’s best moment of the half with a dipping long-range shot which was tipped over the bar by visiting keeper Connor Coulson. A minute later Stefanoaica went on a run into the box before putting over a low cross which just eluded Collins at the far post. The play switched straight to the other end, where Danny Webb was clean through on goal but hit his shot straight at Byfield.

Dunstable made their first change in the 70th minute, bringing on Kelvin Osei-Addo, who was on the pitch for less than a minute before putting his side into the lead. Receiving the ball on the edge of the six-yard box, Osei-Addo turned away from a defender before shooting past Byfield. Leverstock Green FC made two further changes in the 77th minute to try and rescue the game, but less than a minute later it was 3-1 as Danny Webb struck from the edge of the box. Things went from bad to worse in the 86th minute as George Mitchell-Gears was shown a straight red card for a poor challenge less than ten minutes after coming off the bench. Any comeback was now out of the question as Dunstable came away with a deserved win.

Shefford & Campton 1 Leverstock Green 3

Leverstock Green FC bounced back from their defeat to Dunstable Town last week with a 3-1 win away to Shefford Town and Campton in sweltering conditions on Saturday. It was a game that Leverstock generally dominated, and the margin of victory could have been much bigger were it not for an impressive performance from former Leverstock keeper Alfie Bonfield in the Shefford goal.

The first of many chances came in the second minute when a long kick from Austin Byfield found Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica running through on goal. Stefanoaica’s lob cleared Bonfield but landed just the wrong side of the post. In the 7th minute Chris Blunden had a good chance as he turned on the edge of the six-yard box and shot, but Bonfield saved. Two minutes later Stefanoaica went on a run down the right before cutting in and heading for goal, but his shot was tipped over the bar by a superb save from Bonfield. Stefanoaica was in again in the 19th minute and took the ball past Bonfield but was unable to squeeze a shot through the defenders on the line.

The home side’s first chance came in the 38th minute when Dan Hammer got in ahead of a Leverstock Green FC defender to meet a cross with a close-range header, but Byfield did well to turn it away. At the other end a minute later a pass from Dan Pett put Blunden in with a shooting chance. Blunden’s shot was kept out by another superb stop from Bonfield, and Stefanoaica’s effort from the rebound was cleared off the line by Hammer. With Leverstock’s forwards having no luck in finding the net, it was down to a midfielder to open the scoring. A pass from Blunden put Pett in with a chance, and he hit a beautiful strike from the edge of the box with the outside of his boot that finally saw Bonfield beaten and put Leverstock into a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute.

The lead could have been doubled in first half stoppage time as a pass from Blunden put Stefanoaica clean through yet again, but again Bonfield produced a save to turn his shot wide and keep the half time score down to 1-0. In the 53rd minute another long kick from Byfield put Stefanoaica through on goal again, but this time his lob over Bonfield dropped just over the bar. With so many chances being squandered it left Leverstock Green FC vulnerable to a surprise goal by the home side, and so it proved in the 56th minute as two recently introduced substitutes combined. Kurtis Alleyne’s pass put Callum Mullins in to shoot past Byfield for the equaliser.

The scores were only level for a couple of minutes, though. In the 59th minute a pass from Blunden put Stefanoaica through yet again, and this time he slotted past Bonfield to put Leverstock back in front at 2-1.

There was a chance for a third goal in the 65th minute as a pass from Stefanoaica set up Dan Weeks with a chance which he struck very well, but again Bonfield was there to turn it round the post. Bonfield pulled off another great save in the 73rd minute to tip a shot from Pett onto the bar, however seconds later Lewis Collins swung over a cross and Stefanoaica came in to head home the third goal from close range.

That proved to be enough for another three points which takes Leverstock Green FC up to sixth place in the Premier Division table.

Development & U18’s Team News

Leverstock Green Development registered their second win of the season in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division, recovering from going a goal down early on to win 3-2 at Lemsford. The goals were scored by Harry Herbert, Ryan Hennessy, and Connor McGinty.

Leverstock Green Development ended up on the wrong side of an extraordinary 4-6 scoreline in Saturday’s home game against Cuffley in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division. The Leverstock side led 3-1 before being pulled back to 3-3, then briefly led 4-3 before the visitors scored three late goals to win the game. The goalscorers were Ryan Hennessy, Michael Adriano with two, and Callum Moore.

Leverstock Green Development got their first home win of the season on Tuesday night as they progressed to the second round of the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy with a 4-3 win over Apsley Argyle.

The opportunity was taken to field three first team players who have been short on action recently. Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica opened the scoring in the 16th minute with an assist from Callum Neal. George Mitchell-Gears made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute, assisted by Martin Kirov, and Kirov added the third goal on 25 minutes before Apsley pulled a goal back two minutes later.

In the 59th minute Leverstock had a penalty, but Stefanoaica’s kick was saved, and he miskicked the rebound wide. Kirov scored the fourth goal on 65 minutes to put the match away – or so it seemed until Apsley pulled it back to 4-2 in the 85th minute and made it 4-3 deep into stoppage time, but Leverstock held out for the win.

The under-18s are still looking for their first point of the season after a 2-1 defeat at neighbours Hemel Hempstead Town in their second league game of the season on Friday night. A goal from Stan Kenyon levelled the scores at 1-1, but Hemel scored the winner fifteen minutes from the end.

Leverstock Green U18 registered their first points and their first win of the season on Thursday night as they came from a goal down to beat Dunstable Town 4-1 in the SCFYL Corinthian Division. Dunstable took the lead through a soft goal in the 22nd minute, but Leverstock equalised in impressive style in the 41st minute as Archie Roberts went on a solo run and struck a shot from 20 yards low into the corner of the net.

Leverstock went in front in the 67th minute. Breaking from their own half, Joe Sadler threaded a pass to Luc Dischamps, who slotted a shot past the keeper. Dischamps struck again in the 75th minute, chasing a long clearance from the Leverstock box and forcing a mistake out of the last defender before finishing confidently again. A fine performance was capped off by a fourth goal in the 87th minute, Kaashan Darr scoring direct from an outrageous free kick on the left side of the opposition penalty area.

Leverstock Green Under-18s won their second straight match by a big score, following up last week’s 41 win over Dunstable with a 5-0 win away at Buckingham F.C. on Thursday night. A 31st minute goal from Shay Kelly had Leverstock 1-0 up at half time, and Kelly added goals on 50 and 56 minutes to complete his hat-trick. Jamie McIntosh returned to the side off the bench and scored the 4th on 71 minutes, and after Buckingham had a player sent off, James Renton completed the rout with the fifth goal in the 88th minute.

Potton United 4 Leverstock Green 1

Leverstock Green FC suffered a 4-1 defeat in Saturday’s SSML Premier Division visit to Potton United. The margin of defeat was harsh, but it was certainly a deserved win for Potton. Leverstock were without top scorer Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica, who was serving a one-match suspension for too many yellow cards, and with Dan Pett also unavailable the side had a different look to recent games. It took the Leverstock side some time to get going, by which time they were already two goals down. A save from Austin Byfield kept out a shot from Lewis Lynn in the 12th minute, however in the 16th minute a deflected effort from Victor Osobu put Potton into a 1-0 lead.

A second goal in the 29th minute proved even more damaging, and it was a soft goal to concede. A long throw into the box found keeper and defenders leaving it to each other, and it appeared that James Smith got the last touch to put the ball over the line.

Leverstock finally started to put some pressure on the Potton goal from the 35th minute, winning a series of corners, but were unable to make anything of them. In the last minute of the half Rio Beach showed some impressive footwork on the edge of the penalty area before hitting a curling shot which beat the keeper but came back off the bar. A minute later Beach was in again with a run down the right, but his eventual shot was kept out by the keeper. Deep into first half stoppage time a foul on Ryan Carruthers gave Leverstock a free kick in dangerous territory just outside the box, but Chris Blunden’s effort hit the defensive wall.

Leverstock Green FC continued their promising form from the end of the first half into the start of the second half. A foul on Blunden presented Leverstock with another free kick just outside the box, but this time Lewis Collins was unable to get the ball over the wall. Seconds later a Potton player handled the ball. Some felt that it was inside the box, but the verdict of the referee and linesman was that it happened inches outside the box. Blunden stepped up to take this free kick, and this time blasted it through the wall and into the net to put Leverstock back into the game at 2-1 in the 50th minute.

There were three further free kick opportunities for Leverstock Green FC in dangerous positions before the hour mark, but none of them produced a shot to threaten the Potton goal. Instead, it was the home side who took advantage of a free kick at the other end in the 68th minute, as Shane Fox met a cross from the left with a header which went in off the post to make it 3-1 to Potton. Five minutes later Cole Butler had the time and space 30 yards out to hit an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner of the net and put the game out of reach at 4-1.

The closing minutes saw Luke Durnin makes his return from injury by coming off the bench to play as a centre-forward, and there was a first team debut for Mayar Hajousman, but Leverstock Green FC never looked like getting back into the game and continued their see-saw series of results.
