Disclaimer This report was created to compile the most important elements of how existing ships can contribute to the reduction of GHG emissions. External references and sources have been referred to where relevant. The aim is to describe the current situation and the realistic outlook for the conversion of existing ships to use green alternative fuels in the next 3-5 years. The intention is not to serve as a political argument or take a political stance, but merely refer to the current situation seen from the perspective of the marine industry in general and the shipping sector in particular, and state some of the premises for abatement of harmful emissions from ships.
