You are part of a national phenomenon: the largest graduating class in U.S. history. That’s true here in Center Grove, too. More than 700 of you will be awarded high school diplomas—the largest Trojan class of all time. Your life has unfolded during one of the most dynamic periods in modern history. Born mostly in 2007, you’ve grown up in a world defined by rapid transformation. From politics to pop culture revolutions and events, both local and global, your class has witnessed and endured moments that have shaped not only your generation but the world around you.
As members of the Class of 2025, you were born in the final years of George W. Bush’s presidency, in the shadow of 9/11 and during the Iraq War. In 2008, when you were still in diapers, Barack Obama was elected president, making history as the first Black president of the United States. Since then, you’ve witnessed the election of Donald Trump as president in 2016, with Hoosier native Mike Pence as vice president; Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the first female vice president, in 2020; and Donald Trump again in 2024, with fellow Midwesterner J.D. Vance from Ohio as vice president.
Your class has never known a world without smartphones, social media or streaming. Just like you, the iPhone was born in 2007. You’ve grown up alongside Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat.
You are the first true digital natives, fluent in memes, hashtags and online communities. DoorDash, Uber, Netflix and other tech services introduced in your lifetime have revolutionized how we live.
The rise of pop culture phenomena like “Harry Potter,” “Frozen,” Taylor Swift and many new country and rap artists shaped your entertainment tastes and imaginations. You’ve seen trends move at lightning speed—from Hatchimals and fidget spinners to Fortnite; from skinny jeans to mom jeans; from crewcuts to alpaca cuts—just to name a few.
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 abruptly disrupted your seventh grade. Remote learning, mask mandates, isolation and uncertainty became the new normal. You missed sports seasons and performances and had to adapt quickly. But through it all, you demonstrated resilience.
In recent years, we’ve seen breakthroughs that once felt like science fiction: artificial intelligence reshaping industries, commercial space travel, and the rise of electric vehicles and sustainable tech. In 2023, AI tools became mainstream, changing how you learn, work and think about the future. Your class is stepping into a world where adaptability and creativity will be key.
Closer to home, the Indianapolis Colts won the Super Bowl in 2007. More recently, you were front and center in the path of totality during the 2024 total solar eclipse. The Class of 2025 has witnessed—and, for some, experienced—local, regional, state and national championships through your participation in sports, academics, choir and other Trojan organizations. You’ve seen the opening of new Center Grove schools and spaces in the high school.
Soon, you will glide across the stage to accept your reward for 13 years of dedication, discipline and hard work. You will become Center Grove alumni.
Those who walked the stage before you have become teachers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, business owners, authors, musicians, scientists, welders, managers, law enforcement officers, social workers, caregivers, pastors, movie producers, chefs, designers, coaches, pilots, soldiers, sailors, members of the Space Force, and even NBA and NFL players.
You have a tremendous head start on your next chapter thanks to the world-class academics and extracurriculars offered by Center Grove Schools.
Your path is your own to carve; your contribution to community and society are yours to define.
Do your best. Be your best. Forever a Trojan.
Congratulations, Class of 2025!
FREDDA KOVACS, Publisher fredda@townepost.com
Congratulations to the Center Grove High School Class of 2025! This class has demonstrated impressive growth throughout their high school journey. They began as freshmen still navigating the aftermath of the pandemic and have emerged as confident, capable young adults ready to make their mark on the world. Their ability to adapt and thrive despite these early obstacles speaks volumes about their character and determination.
This class is exceptionally talented across all domains—academically, athletically and artistically. Over their four years at Center Grove, they have achieved successes ranging from academic competitions to county titles and state and national championships. Their accomplishments have brought immense pride to our school and community and set a shining example for future classes.
I wish every senior the best as they embark on the next chapters in their lives, whether pursuing higher education, entering the workforce, joining the military or exploring other paths. We look forward to watching them flourish.
Sincerely,
William K. Long, Ed.D. Superintendent
What an incredible journey you’ve had! This school year—and the past four years—have been filled with amazing accomplishments in the classroom, on the stage, in clubs and on the field. Your unique talents and passions have been such a joy to watch grow and shine, and we are so proud of everything you’ve achieved.
As you head off to your next chapter—whether it’s college, a trade or technical school, the military, an apprenticeship or the workforce—know this: You’re ready. Your time at CGHS has prepared you well, not just academically, but as problem solvers, leaders and compassionate individuals.
You’ve pushed yourselves in so many ways—through essays, experiments, projects, performances and competitions. You’ve learned to think critically, stay focused on your goals and work through challenges with determination and creativity. You’ve also shown kindness and heart through your community service and support of one another.
Never forget that you have what it takes to make a real difference in the world. You carry with you intelligence, empathy and grit—qualities that will serve you and those around you well. Use them. Lean into opportunities. Keep learning, growing and making an impact.
As you graduate from Center Grove High School, we wish you nothing but the best—success, health, happiness and everything in between. Go Trojans!
Warmly,

Center Grove Community School Corporation is proud to announce the Teachers of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year. Each teacher is recognized for making an extraordinary impact on students and colleagues in his/her building.
Center Grove awarded Anne Jackson, from North Grove Elementary School, the 2024-25 CGCSC Teacher of the Year during the district’s annual Employee Celebration on Monday, May 12. Mrs. Jackson teaches 5th Grade Extended Learning (High Ability). She is finishing her 10th year of teaching, three of which have been in Center Grove. Center Grove’s district Teacher of the Year is chosen by a university committee. As Teacher of the Year, Jackson will receive $1,000, courtesy of Walman Financial, LLC to spend in her classroom. She will represent Center Grove in the Indiana Teacher of the Year competition.
“Being named Center Grove Community School Corporation Teacher of the Year is an incredible honor,” said Jackson. “This recognition reflects not only my work, but also the strength of the community I am privileged to be part of and the transformative impact of education within it. I am continually inspired by my students, colleagues, and families who show up each day with passion, curiosity, and resilience. They are the heart of this work and the reason it is so meaningful and fulfilling. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to represent our district and to celebrate the power of education to shape lives and enrich communities.”
Center Grove honored 61 current, former and retired teachers with Legacy Awards. Center Grove High School seniors nominate the teacher they believe had the greatest impact on them during their time in Center Grove schools.

Center Grove Community School Corporation is excited to announce the honorees for Support Staff of the Year. These staff members were chosen by their colleagues for the exceptional contributions they make in their buildings.
As the dust settles at the southwest corner of Center Grove High School, drivers traveling up and down Morgantown Road get a glimpse of the new exterior for the latest addition to Center Grove High School. Standing three stories tall, the new 50,000-square-foot Center Grove Academic Pavilion will be ready to welcome students next school year.
Center Grove Community School Corporation Superintendent, Dr. Bill Long, says the newest addition to the high school is an open, flexible space that allows the district to plan for the future of learning. The pavilion includes

18 academic classrooms, collaboration spaces, a secondary cafeteria and room for additional bus parking. The projected cost of the entire project is nearly $20 million, without raising taxes on homeowners or seeking additional funding sources.
“This first phase was built with the idea that we could add on, almost an identical wing just to the west of us, toward Morgantown Road, and replicate another 18 classrooms,” Long said. “When I was the high school principal two decades ago, the district conducted studies on whether it should build a second high school. The answer was a resounding
no from a community and financial perspective. This should set us up for what our demographers tell us would be the maximum size the high school would need to accommodate.”
Future planning for CGCSC is no guessing game. The district works each year with a demographer, along with Johnson County, Greenwood and Bargersville officials, to project growth. This formula is determined by yearly enrollment, number of households, the number of students per household and future housing developments.
“When we talk about our enrollment, we know it’s going to peak at some time and then go down,” Long said. “Based on our projections, we figured that it was more economical and logical to add on to the one high school.”
The Academic Pavilion is the third major addition to Center Grove High School in recent years, following the Student Activity Center (2018) and Natatorium (2022).
“We built all three of those without raising the tax rate for our community,” Long said. “The board’s been awesome about trying to keep that steady.”
Long said each project has its own name, timeline and funding source. For the Academic Pavilion, the district sells bonds and pays them back over time. He added that the district built Walnut Grove Elementary, renovated and expanded Sugar Grove Elementary and made large safety investments without asking taxpayers for more money through a referendum.
“For me to sit here and say that we think this pavilion will last us for another 15 to 20 years without needing another one means we’ve put a lot of thought into this,” Long said.
The Academic Pavilion offers a campuslike feel with natural light pouring through large windows, open stairways and space for small group work. The new Junior ROTC classrooms are already in
use this school year, and the district’s Early College program will move into several of the classrooms next semester.
An auxiliary cafeteria will serve 200-300 students each day, alleviating some of the strain on the high school’s primary cafeteria, which is nearing capacity.
“I think that’s what we do as a society,” Long said. “We pass on that great tradition of giving students an opportunity to learn and be ready for the future. Investing in our schools helps your property value, it makes people want to move here, and it helps our community grow.”

CarDon
When Dr. Randy Schroeder arrived at CarDon & Associates’ senior living community in Pendleton, Rawlins House, he was in a rough patch. Severely weak from fighting the lifethreatening condition of bacterial meningitis, he needed maximum assistance with basic movements and daily tasks.
Thanks to the community’s dedicated team of rehab therapists, Randy can now walk up to 200 feet with supervision, climb stairs with minimal help, and manage daily activities on his own. Upon graduating from rehab, he called the community “a gift from God,” praising the staff across all departments.
While Rawlins House helped Randy return home, other CarDon communities have become home to seniors because of the skilled, compassionate care they provide.
Like many seniors, Donald Wilson was initially hesitant to enter senior living and accept assistance. Now, he’s been living at CarDon’s Altenheim community for more than six months and feeling right at home.
“My dad is an old-fashioned, do-it-himself kind of man, so he sometimes has a hard time asking for help or embracing it,” Robert said. “But the nurses here make him feel comfortable with that. I trust that he’s in good hands when I’m not here, and that’s the best feeling for a family member to have.”
As with the majority of CarDon’s communities, Altenheim provides independent and assisted living as well as rehab, memory support, on-site dialysis and 24/7 long-term care that not only fulfills residents’ daily needs with dignity but keeps them active and engaged. For example, Donald loves building puzzles and attending the community’s music therapy classes, which CarDon offers on the basis that music is scientifically proven to improve memory and overall cognition in seniors. During these classes, the instructor encourages residents to sing and dance to favorite tunes from their past.
Of course, CarDon’s rehab programs keep residents spry as well. With state-of-the-art gyms and highly trained physical, occupational and speech therapists equipped to guide residents through recovery, CarDon’s communities see daily success stories.
Delivering rehab therapy and long term care is more than a job for CarDon team members — it’s their passion.
Mary Delaney also spoke of the relief she felt knowing that staff would always be around to assist her mother at CarDon’s Carmel Health & Living.
From the nurses safely positioning her mother’s wheelchair to a cafeteria employee always being ready to serve her decaf coffee, Mary said every member of the community’s staff made a positive impact every day.
From the moment Mary stepped into Carmel Health & Living, she was welcomed with open arms, which she didn’t expect when she spontaneously decided to schedule a tour of the community on a Sunday afternoon. From that first moment, she knew her mother would be in good hands.
Mary elaborated: “Other senior communities are appealing on a surface level. They have the gourmet meals, the nice tile, the flowers on the tables. But they don’t have the level of care that CarDon has.”
The people here make all the difference.

Center Grove High School (CGHS) boys track and field maintained its stronghold over the local schools, winning its 26th straight Johnson County title. This was Brad Timmons’ second title in as many years as the CGHS head coach.
“As coaches, we’re very pleased in multiple areas where kids stepped up and either performed to or exceeded their seeded
standards,” said Timmons. “Caison Barber continues to improve in the 110 high and 300 intermediate hurdles, where he secured a first in both. Same with Daxon Sauer in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, where he was a double winner. Our distance runners shined as well, with Curtis Williams taking first in the 3200 meters, Jayden Salo winning the 800 meters, and Mason Vrshek closing like a wild man in the 1600 meters to secure a third-place finish in a fairly loaded field. Zavier Laney has been a pleasant surprise in the high jump, where he is emerging as a contender to place well in our remaining meets. Last, Ryke Meyer
and Jameson Mennel went one-two in the 400 meters and have made steady progress as the season progresses.”
The Trojans also won the Warren Central and Mooresville invitationals. Center Grove will look to continue to make strides toward the state finals in early June at the North Central High School track and field complex.
“One thing I know from my experiences here at Center Grove is that our kids are workers,” said Timmons. “In most, if not all, events, our athletes have experienced
continued improvement by trusting the process and showing up each day willing to do what is necessary to improve, even when that process is uncomfortable. I like the direction of this team, and I believe if we can continue to take care of our bodies, we should afford ourselves the opportunity to score well come tournament time.”
Girls Track and Field Vaults Over the Competition to Win the Warren Central Invitational
CGHS girls track and field rallied to win the Warren Central Invitational, dominating the final field event to secure the championship trophy.
“Warren Central was so exciting to win,” said CGHS Head Coach Wes Dodson. “We came from behind with just one event left, and we erased an 18-point deficit as we finished first, second and third in the pole vault.”
The Trojans also excelled at the Mooresville Invitational, taking the top prize.
“At Mooresville we placed well in all our events and ran a bunch of personal records,” said Dodson. We are really progressing at the right time. The girls have been working really hard and our times are really starting to drop.”
CGHS also shined on Senior Night, winning the Trojan Classic. The Trojans look to make a deep run in the state tournament, which will culminate in the state finals at North Central in early June.
Each season, Center Grove softball honors its late hall-of-fame coach, Russ Milligan, by hosting the Coach Russ Milligan Classic. Milligan, who won five state titles as the head coach of the Trojan program, passed away in 2021. In this year’s classic, CGHS hosted Columbus North and Bedford North Lawrence (BNL). The Trojans beat the Bull Dogs in the opening game 16-5 and topped the Stars in the final contest 12-3. CGHS pounded out 31 hits in the wins, highlighted by home runs off the bats of Hayden Baird and Syd Herrmann. The Trojans’ pitching staff was led by Riley Fuhr and Kara Biever in game one, limiting Columbus North to six hits and three earned runs. CGHS fireballer Sarah Riley held BNL to five hits and three earned runs, and also struck out eight batters. CGHS, a top-five state-ranked team in class 4A, is working hard toward returning to the state finals for a second time under Head Coach Alyssa Coleman. The Trojans won the 4A title in 2019, Coleman’s first season as CGHS’s head coach. Purdue University will host the state finals in mid-June.
Center Grove girls tennis held serve on its home courts to win the Trojan Classic. CGHS edged Terre Haute South 3-2, shut out Whiteland 5-0, and beat Mt. Vernon 3-2. The Trojans also had great regular-season wins over Brownsburg, 3-2, and Franklin, 4-1, ending a streak of six straight losses to the Grizzly Cubs.
Center Grove boys golf is eyeing a return trip to the state finals in mid-June at Prairie View Golf Club. The Trojans had the opportunity to play at Prairie View during the season in the annual North-South Cup rivalry match against Carmel. CGHS beat the Greyhounds 297-313, led by comedalists James Beetz and Drew Hardin’s 73 scores.
CGHS also secured the Trojan Classic title at Hickory Stick Golf Club, beating Guerin Catholic by one stroke 291-292, with Nathan Springer pacing the way for CGHS with a 71.
“Our wins at the Trojan Classic and NorthSouth Cup reflect the hard work we’ve put
in since preseason,” said CGHS head coach Matt Rodman. “From day one, this team has been focused and committed, and it’s paid off with consistent improvement each week. We’re using that momentum to fine-tune our game and stay mentally sharp as we build toward our ultimate goal - competing at our best in the state tournament.”
The CGHS Ultimate Club won the ultimate prize again this season, beating Westfield in
the state finals. The Trojans have won the USA Ultimate Indiana State High School Championship 14 times and the last five in a row.
“It was fun playing against other Indiana teams in the high school state championship and winning,” said CGHS Ultimate Club senior co-captain Grant Streib, a four-year ultimate player.
“Ultimate frisbee has been a good experience and I’m glad I chose to play it in high school. I’ve enjoyed the camaraderie of the sport, hanging out
with friends and getting to help teach new players the sport.”
The CGHS Ultimate Club was established in 2003 and has consistently been a state power, winning state championships in 2007, 2011-2018, and 2021-2025; placing second in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2019; and placing third and fifth, respectively, in the National High School Invitational in 2017 and 2018.
The Ultimate Club’s core values are as follows; the club strives to provide an allinclusive sports opportunity for Center Grove School Corporation students and help them develop high athletic ability, leadership and life skills through ultimate sports.
The club helps enrich lives and advance the personal development of every club member. It is a foundation for the Indiana ultimate community, which is competitive nationally in all divisions.
Center Grove’s Ultimate Club is an excellent way for players to meet other students, work together toward a common goal and learn the rules of a growing sport. Many alumni players continue playing at a collegiate or recreational level after graduation.
Parents, families and friends support the club, creating a sense of community.
Ultimate is a self-refereed sport, meaning the players make the calls on the field. Players must know the game’s rules, use integrity when making calls and exercise sportsmanship when discussing controversial plays with other teams. At the conclusion of each game, both teams hold a spirit circle to discuss tough plays, and a Spirit award is given to each team.
Ultimate requires skill and knowledge of the game. One of the most essential aspects of Center Grove Ultimate Club is the integrity of its players on and off the field. While competitive players play hard during every game, they must also learn teamwork, endurance and sportsmanship.
