Hey there, weddings, I missed you.
As I write this editorial I am thinking about two things. One is writing this editorial, of course. The other is that I’m wondering what time I can get to the seamstress to have a dress fixed. I am wearing it to a wedding and it’s missing a couple buttons. I feel like I’ve gone through every dress in my closet this year, because I have been to so many events!
Isn’t it nice to have weddings and events back in full force? In the last year I have been to five weddings: a destination wedding in Jamaica and four locally, in Ontario. Those four have all been COVID-catch-up weddings, with some of them having been postponed two or three times. What a relief it is for couples to finally be able to exchange vows in front of their loved ones. I know it affected couples emotionally and mentally, and they aren’t alone; I think we all felt the absence of weddings.
Weddings are lovefests, pure and simple. And we all need more of that in our lives. More laughing. More hugging. More emotion. More vows. More first looks. More dogs in tuxedos. More grandmas on the dance floor. More slices of cake. And more signature cocktails doesn’t hurt, either.
We all need to be in the presence of love, especially these days. So, please stick around, weddings; I kind of have a crush on you.

ASK THE EXPERT
a bridal makeup artist, I spend a lot of time monitoring trends and speaking to brides about wedding day glam. e world of beauty is vast, and weddings present an opportunity to evaluate and explore what’s out there.
treatments should I do before the wedding?
More than ever, brides are taking skincare into consideration as part of their beauty preparations. Thanks to a heightened awareness of skin health and its importance (thank you, #skintok), the idea of taking a holistic approach to a makeup look and recognizing it starts with skin is the norm. For this makeup artist and skin expert, that’s music to my ears!
Before venturing into treatments themselves, ensure you have a solid skincare routine. For wedding preparations, I recommend a cleanser, toner, moisturizer and SPF based on your skin type, all used twice daily (SPF in the morning only). Getting into a consistent and e ective routine is key if you’re trying to get your skin in shape, so locking this down first is essential.
From there, one of the best ways to show your skin some love leading up to your wedding day is through regular facials. In addition to being a relaxing and relatively
a ordable treatment, facials are a great way to receive deeper exfoliating, hydrating and skin-clearing e ects. These can be done every four to six weeks, and are a great way to get connected to a skin therapist in your area who can discuss your regime, and potential deeper treatments you might consider for optimal skin health.
I am considering Botox, where do I begin?
If your wedding day has you thinking about injectables for the first time, you are not alone. Neuromodulators like Botox and dermal fillers are as common as they’ve ever been, and it’s no wonder brides are now more openly asking questions about them.
First, a brief caveat: I like to emphasize that no one needs to do any one particular treatment or injectables for any reason. My philosophy with beauty will always be that if it’s your face and body, it’s your rules, so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise if you’re
on the fence. With that said, the conversation around these treatments has never been more transparent, and knowledge absolutely is power if you’re not sure where to start with injectables.
The first thing to know is selecting a reputable and knowledgeable provider of these services is critical. I recommend to my brides that they seek a clinic that has oversight from medical doctors, and where treatments are administered by medical doctors, registered nurses and registered practical nurses. Do your homework (reviews and referrals are helpful, and it’s more likely than not someone you trust has a preferred clinic) and check their website and social media profiles for examples of their work.
If you’ve decided on injectables for your wedding, note that neuromodulators need about two weeks to be at optimum e ectiveness, and dermal fillers will show results right away but need about a week for any bruising or swelling to heal.

OVERWHELMED BY ALL THE BEAUTY OPTIONS OUT THERE? HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS TO START YOU ON THE RIGHT PATH.
What
As
Q Q istockphoto.com
I’m diving into the most commonly asked questions this wedding season to guide your bridal beauty journey.
Brides often ask me if airbrushing is a good option for them as an alternative to traditional foundation and makeup products. It is typically an add-on service, so wondering if it’s worth the extra splurge is a common and fair question.
The key di erences between airbrush makeup and regular makeup are the method of application and the product itself. Airbrush makeup is applied as a fine mist with an airbrush machine, o ering a di used and lightweight base that gives a soft and natural finish. Formulas are also typically water-, sweat- and smudge-proof, which is great for long wedding days (especially in the middle of Summer).
Regular makeup is typically applied with a brush or a sponge and is set with powder and setting sprays to ensure it’s transferresistant. While regular makeup has come a long way in terms of giving a comparable finish to airbrush makeup, to get this look it often requires a heavier base and makeup that you more noticeably feel throughout the day.
If you’re conscious of flaky skin or facial hair, you may not want to opt for airbrush as it can inadvertently enhance the appearance of these. But, if you’re looking for very lightweight and long-lasting makeup, airbrush is typically more comfortable than traditional makeup and results in a luxurious look.
wear a lot of makeup, so I’m not sure what to look for in a makeup artist. How do I know they will be good?
When selecting your makeup artist, start with reviewing their portfolios. These are commonly available on social media (Instagram is great for this) or professional websites and allows you to decide if their overall look aligns with your vision. Most artists tend to fall into a certain style and matching up with someone based on this will ensure you’re hiring someone who understands your needs.
Relying on reviews and referrals can be incredibly helpful here as well, especially if you know brides who hired someone in the past that did work you saw firsthand and liked.
Once you’ve selected a few options to reach out to, send a note to inquire about their services and make note of how they communicate. Are they professional and timely with their replies to you? Are they able to answer your questions with confidence? Treat this process like an interview and know that if they are professional and respectful of your time with communicating, that probably
extends into their in-person interactions. Finally, booking a trial in this case is a strong recommendation. In addition to seeing if you like the look, this also gives you a chance to review how easy the booking process is, your artists’ kit and quality of products and tools
being used, their sanitation practices, and their overall professionalism and experience. These are all indicators of how things will go on your actual wedding day and feeling comfortable and at ease with your artist is the most important thing.
The question of makeup and hair trials comes up every now and then with brides, and I believe there are two schools of thought on this.
For the bride that is low-key and easygoing about beauty and doesn’t wear much makeup on a regular basis, the trial can probably be skipped. I find with these clients, it’s less about achieving a specific look or vision and more about having themselves look “done” for photos with a lightweight and natural vibe. If you count yourself in this category and you’d rather invest in other priorities, that’s completely fine. However, if you have a specific vision or look in mind, any skincare or beauty concerns, or are worried about longevity of your makeup and hair and how they look after a long day, it is strongly advised to book the trial. A trial is less about getting your makeup done, and more about actually doing a run-through of what you want to achieve and then putting it to the test for a day.
It’s also an important chance to meet your artist, make sure you gel with one another and that they capture your vision, and talk through any other preparations you may need to make ahead of the day itself.
PRO TIP
Book your hair and makeup trial on the day of your engagement shoot, bridal shower or bachelorette party to get the most out of the booking.

Wedding Planning Advice from Professional Wedding Planners
Congratulations on your engagement!
We have compiled some of our top tips and advice for planning your wedding.
Set a budget
It doesn’t matter if you have unlimited funds to spend on your wedding or if you need to keep a tighter rein on it, everyone should have an amount in their minds that both parties agree on. We can’t control how much you spend or what you spend it on. That is ultimately your decision. As your wedding planner, we will remind you when you are getting close to your specified budget and offer suggestions on how best to keep it in check – you can then decide if you want to scale back or spend the new amount (which will ultimately increase your budget). Your guest list has a lot to do with the budget. If you are dreaming of luxury tabletops and florals galore but are finding it hard to stay within your budget, the best solution is to reduce the number of guests to accommodate these dreams. The fewer tables that you have to add your upgraded linens, candelabras and overflowing floral centrepieces will save you money. Also, and most importantly, a smaller guest list gives you more time to spend with everyone you care about.
Hire professionals
We are so happy to work with all the amazing couples that we do. We aim to make your wedding day go off without any major bumps or glitches so you can enjoy it to the fullest. Therefore, it is extremely important that your wedding team is compiled of professionals. Chances are when a problem or concern arises, we have seen it before, dealt with it before and know how to fix it. This is not the time to take a chance on Aunt Sally’s crumble cake for 120 of your closest friends and family, or Uncle Marco and his brand new DSLR camera to capture your entire wedding day. This is why a lot of venues in the city will require each wedding vendor to carry their own business insurance (liability and E & O). Let your guests be guests and enjoy your special day to the fullest.
DIY or DIT?
(Do-it-Yourself, or Do-it-Together?)
Are you sure about that? Have you ever looked at DIY fails? Please test out anything that you want to be doing for the wedding at least two months before, just in case it doesn’t look or feel how you wanted. Then you’ll have time to order it, move to a plan B or hire someone to do it for you.
Find the perfect DJ
Get wedding liability insurance
We strongly recommend that every couple gets insurance. This is a specialty policy that covers injuries or accidents to you, your guests or the wedding team that might occur during the ceremony or reception. Venues are requiring it more than ever before as it also protects the venue from damage that can occur.
Ultimately the party starts and ends with them. Check references and trust us when we say they are worth the investment. No one wants their dancefloor empty and the reception to end early. A professional DJ is licensed and insured (and will also have backup equipment in case things go awry). He/she will read the crowd and change the music accordingly. In your meetings with the DJ prior to the wedding, he/she will ask about what type of music you and your friends listen to and if there are cultural must-haves, as well as the ages of the guests.
Hire a wedding planner
We feel that this is your best tip of the bunch. There are so many things that need to be investigated. Let a professional break down the tasks and guide you through this wonderful and exciting time, so that it stays that way.
This should go without saying, but we are saying it: Be nice to your vendors!
Treat vendors with respect and kindness. It really goes a long way in the scheme of things. They are going to be much easier to work with over the course of the planning process and wedding day when there is mutual respect.
Book your musthave wedding pros first
Wedding ceremony locations, venues and suppliers are getting booked up faster than ever before. If there are certain companies that you really want to have as a part of your wedding day, then make sure they get hired right away. They are not confirmed until a signed contract has been made.
Don’t procrasinate working on your seating chart
Couples never realize just how long this takes, and how frustrating this task is. This is a job that only you and those very close to you can manage, as family and friend dynamics come into play.
Keep the timeline on track
Speeches can be the best or the worst part of a wedding reception. We recommend keeping the speeches 3-5 minutes each.
P.S. Parents don’t count for speech time patrol. You are their babies.
P.S.S. We STRONGLY advise against having an open mic as this almost never goes over well.

Hit of the night: The entire wedding was a memorable experience, but guests loved the late-night bubble tea truck.
Cultural details: “It was extremely important to us that both of our cultures (Filipino and Chinese) were represented on our wedding day,” says Beatrice. “We had a Catholic ceremony at our church, which included the Filipino cord, veil and coin traditions. At our Chinese tea ceremony, I wore a cheongsam dress and Victor wore a dragon brocadepatterned tie. We then changed into traditional Filipino outfits called the Mestiza and Barong for the reception. My parents and their friends did a special Philippine folk dance number and finally, we opened the dance floor with a Chinese lion dance.”
Shining personalities: Beatrice says that every single detail showed off their personalities. “From the venue, to our outfits, to the stationery, down to the dinnerware –everything was carefully chosen to reflect us as a couple. We also wanted the music to reflect our personalities. We are both ’90s kids who love early 2000s hip hop and R&B, so it was important to us that our DJ fit our vibe and would get everyone on the dance floor. We haven’t stopped receiving compliments from our guests that we had the best wedding music ever!”

Room reveal: Many couples are taking moments to do a reception reveal before guests arrive. Élisée says it was lovely to share that private experience together.
Special moments: In addition to loving the vows, the couple really enjoyed watching everyone have a good time. Élisée says, “We loved the athmosphere. It was fire and everyone had fun. At one point, I went to the back of the room on my own to get a view of the energy that emanated and the love with which our loved ones surrounded us. It was beautiful to see and it’s an image that I still keep in my head.”
Helpful advice: “Organizing a wedding can be exhausting and demanding,” says Élisée. “A week before the wedding, take a moment with your lover and remember why you are getting married. This will allow you to put the glitches that will occur that day into perspective. This day passes very quickly and there will be no second take. So put everything on your side to fully live every second.”
Honeymoon: Élisée sums up their Mexico honeymoon perfectly. “Two words: relaxation, rest.”

Classic and timeless
Nadine and Garrett met in university 11 years ago, but began dating three years after that. With a friendship that turned to romance, this couple celebrated their wedding day in a way that felt elegant and true to themselves.

Dressing the part: Nadine says, “We both have pretty classic styles, which I think came through in our outfits.”
Something sweet: “The fruit used in the centrepieces was a real hit,” says Nadine. “It was so entertaining to see people eating it after dinner, squeezing grapefruit into their drinks, or nibbling on a few grapes while waiting for a drink at the bar. The idea of fruit was inspired by memories at my grandparents’. We would always have fruit at the end of a meal, and it always looked so beautiful on the table. I’m so glad that people actually ended up interacting with it and eating it!”
Little moments: When it comes to picking a favourite moment of the day, Nadine has a not-so-obvious choice. “The whole day was magical so it’s hard to pick, but the time we spent eating lunch, having some drinks, taking photos and celebrating with our bridal party between the ceremony and reception was really special.”
Bride advice: “The best thing we did was hire a month-of and day-of coordinator. If you have very busy schedules, consider having the planner even do a bit more. It really just let us focus on enjoying the moment when the big day came.”

First look: “For both of us, our first look was so special,” says Heather. “Our wedding was postponed three times due to COVID and took place almost three years after getting engaged. My dress was the first thing I bought early on and the only secret from Dillon. The moment of finally seeing each other was so built up, and Dillon’s reaction was absolutely priceless. He said it truly took his breath away. It was so special having that time just to ourselves on a day that goes by so quickly.”
Sweetheart: With so many gorgeous details, Heather had one stand-out favourite. “While I was absolutely blown away by our entire wedding, our sweetheart table was such a showstopper! We had the most gorgeous vintage furniture pieces put together for us and our florals were such a dream to finish it off. We loved having the sweetheart table to enjoy dinner, just the two of us. I highly recommend it to everyone. It’s such a busy day, so it’s so nice to take in the moment with your partner.”

Two times the celebration
Planning a wedding during a pandemic may have been difficult, but this gorgeous couple was finally able to exchange vows in front of their loved ones – in a Ghanaian ceremony as well as a western celebration.

Advice from the bride: “There will be many people who mean well, but ultimately you have to do what’s comfortable for you.”
The love story: “We met at a church camp in Michigan when we were 15 and had crushes on each other,” says Josephine. “He lived in America and I lived in Canada and we were 15, so a long-distance relationship was not the most feasible thing to swing. However, we stayed in contact over the years and we started dating in 2018. We got engaged during the pandemic in November of 2020 (borders were closed to Americans, but Canadians could still fly into the States). We got married in April 2022.”
Ghanaian ceremony: The couple had a traditional ceremony on the Friday before the Western wedding that was full of Ghanaian culture, from the colours, to the traditional outfits worn by the bride and groom and the bridal party.
Guest memories: So what will guests remember most? Josephine says, “Hopefully the love that Kwabena and I share for each other but I have a feeling it’s the fact that a shy girl like me broke out of her shell and danced in front of so many people!”

Bunny buddies: The acrylic box with two Bugs Bunnies was one of Lindsay’s favourite details. “When we first started dating, we realized we both had an old Bugs Bunny stuffed toy that we cherished from when we were kids. We could not believe the chances of that happening and wanted to share that kismet moment with our guests.”
Dance party: When asked what guests will remember most, Rachael says it was definitely the non-stop dance party. “We asked our guests for song requests on our invitations and our DJ incorporated the list into the night’s playlist. It resulted in a fantastic mix of genres that everyone seemed to get down to. These played during dinner and got people on the dance floor before the salad even hit the tables!”
Perfect advice: A friend shared some words of wisdom before the big day, and it paid off. “Spend time together at the reception so you have many opportunities to make shared memories; this way the inside jokes and the special moments will be shared by both of you.”

My Heart’s Always Yours
ARKELLS FRONTMAN MAX KERMAN TELLS US WHAT IT TAKES TO WRITE A LOVE SONG
Arkells, an alt/indie band from Hamilton, Ont., has been around for more than 15 years, taking home Juno awards for Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year. And while rock is their bread and butter, their songs have been popping up at weddings more and more frequently, as first dance songs
Max Kerman, lead singer and guitar player, shares what it means to be a part of a couple’s special day.

Photo: Nathan Nash
MK: Absolutely! When we wrote those songs, they were written in very vulnerable, intimate moments and it’s something that’s close to your heart. And like any song, you put them out into the world, and you don’t know where it will end up in other peoples’ lives. We have lots of di erent types of songs, and that’s the fun part about our band. We have songs that people play before they work out, or songs they play before they write an exam. So the fact that we also have songs that are played during first dances is something that will never cease to delight me – the fact that we get to play a part in people’s lives that way.
TB
MK: Yeah, so there’s this song called “Nobody Gets Me Like You Do,” which, wasn’t even a romantic love song – it was a song about my best friend. But of course, most people would probably interpret it as a song about their romantic partner. And that’s the beauty about music – you can interpret it however you’d like. And the song is a pretty dancey, upbeat, jaunty tune. And I guess somebody was like, “I love the song, but for the purpose of a slow dance at my wedding, it would be nice if there was an acoustic rendition.” Typically, we wouldn’t be able to fulfill the request, because we’re on tour and we have an album rollout going to plan, and I thought, you know what? I could probably do something that would accomplish what they need. The wedding was in a couple weeks and we were on tour in Calgary and I asked our sound guy, Chris, if he would record me doing an acoustic rendition. And we would be able to make a good-sounding MP3 to email over to them, and that’s what we did!
TB What was their reaction?
MK: I think she was crying and stu . She was very happy. And then we probably got another like 100 messages [on social media], saying “Can I have it!? I’m also getting married!”
MK: It’s an honour, of course, that we get to play a role in someone’s life in that way. I mean, we’re music fans, we know what our favourite bands and songwriters mean to us. And not every band or artist thinks like this, but for us, it’s part of our job. Part of our job is the connectivity of the music. And we try to honour, as best as we can, that partnership between the band and people who listen to us. The relationship we have with our fans has always been quite a ectionate and I am curious to know where we land in people’s lives. I love hearing stories about couples who got matching tattoos of one of our song lyrics. We hear it all the time. And it’s an amazing thing – these really personal moments that we turn into songs, touch other people in that way.
TB So, what does it take to write a love song?
MK: I think it’s some combination of broad, universal truths mixed with really specific things that can also be universally felt. With the song, “And Then Some,” – it’s about being at a party, and drinking white Russians, and getting to the bottom of your glass and pulling your loved one aside and pouring your heart out to them. And I think a lot of people have been in that situation before. Another song that gets used a lot is the song “Quitting You,” and that song is about going over to someone’s house, and they leave the key behind the porch light to let yourself in. Those are really intimate, specific details, but I think a lot of people can see themselves.
As a proud Hamiltonian, Thomas has been a fan of Arkells for years – he's been to almost 20 of their concerts. Of course, DG had to become a fan, too. It wasn't even a choice! In fact, DG surprised Thomas the night he proposed, by taking them to an Arkells concert in Montreal. "That's what made our wedding so much more special," says Thomas. "Our MCs surprised us with a personal video from Max Kerman. Max congratulated us on our special day, celebrating our marriage, and sang an acoustic version of "Quitting You". The song shares perfectly how falling in love can be the most comforting feeling. Which is exactly what our wedding was – filled with love and comfort."

TB So what does that mean to you to connect with your fans on the most important day of their lives?
e fact that we have songs that are played during rst dances is something that will never cease to delight me – the fact that we get to play a part in people's lives that way.
TB We saw on Instagram that you re-imagined one of your own songs for a couple who wanted one of your faster songs to be turned into a slow song?

FLOWERS
Jennifer Harvey, Wedding Consultant and Designer GATTO FLOWERS
I think the number one thing that drives many of us in the floral industry crazy and disappoints us the most is when couples come in with the expectation that flowers shouldn’t cost as much as they do – that we somehow can do things cheaper if the couples (or their parents) yell at us or threaten us. Unfortunately, I have sat across the desk from many couples and their families and instead of saying, “Here is a budget we would like to work within” or, “Can you help us come up with ideas to create this look but in our budget?” clients will say, “What discounts are you giving me?” or, “ We could buy that at the grocery store and do it ourselves for way cheaper.”
I love working in this industry but it’s disheartening when this mentality is brought into a meeting before I even have a chance to explain why flowers cost what they do or that we work with all budgets. The same energy and talent of our designers and company will go into a wedding that is $500 or $50,000.
INVITATIONS
Jordan Kentris, Owner & Creative Director
A GOOD DAY
A common mistake is not giving enough time for creation of paper goods. We often get inquiries 1-2 months before the invitations are to be mailed, shortening the RSVP time and limiting the production and print methods we can design to. There are paper shortages and often times our materials come from the U.S., so timing is unpredictable.
Be very clear where you’re willing to invest in your stationery budget and where you aren’t. The possibilities are endless, but as an invitation suite becomes more elaborate, cost and timing implications are a result.
PLANNING
Tracey Manailescu, Vice President WPIC INC.
The wedding industry in Canada consists of a really great group of people who take great pride in their businesses. It’s frustrating when couples don’t trust us and the other wedding professionals that they hired to do their jobs. We take our profession very seriously, and we will do whatever it takes to make your day run smoothly. As wedding planners, the only contract that we sign is with you, the couple. This means that we always have your best interests at heart.
Find a wedding pro that fits your budget, personalities and style.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Tyler Tang, Photographer and Co-Owner PALM TREE STUDIO
I find sometimes people don’t take advantage of having engagement sessions – just thinking that some nice photos that your friend took with your phone are good enough. That is so wrong! The engagement session is not only to take some nice photos of the couple, it is more to celebrate your relationship, and get to know each other (photographer and the couple).
It is the time to know the photographer’s personality and the shooting style, so on the day you won’t be too nervous in front of cameras. Also, the photographer can know you better after the engagement session. Each couple is so di erent. The photographer needs to understand how you react in front of the camera, too. Plus, we can talk and discuss any concerns.
This really helps photographers to be prepared for the wedding day, and to minimize any awkwardness throughout the day.
Flowers are grown by someone, shipped by someone, cleaned by someone and designed by someone. There is time, supplies, water and so much more that goes into each and every bloom that is created for couples on their wedding day. Consultations and prep to make the vision come to life all takes time and every single one of these steps costs something. To come to the consultation with the expectation that anyone can design the million-dollar weddings you see on Pinterest is like going into a 4-star restaurant and telling the chef who has spent a lifetime of training to prepare for the moment you sit and eat at their table that you could just go to a grocery store and whip it up for less and better is absurd.
Another thing that drives me around the bend is when couples bring in pictures from Pinterest and insist that they want the colour of flowers shown in the pictures. When I try to explain that the photographer has edited these pictures and that colour doesn’t exist in real life or for that particular flower, they get very upset with me.
Finally, when couples come in insisting they have this particular flower for their wedding, but it’s out of season and I cannot get it locally. I give them alternatives, but time and time again I will get the heat that I can’t control the climate we live in and somehow I am at fault that I cannot grow their favourite flower at the time they specify, in the colour they specify, for the price they specify! Oh if only I had those powers!

Marry me!
THE BEST PART:
Kate says, “Every part of the day had something ‘Kate & Craig’ incorporated into it. Every moment felt full of positivity, love and genuine good vibes.”
PANDEMIC PLANNING:
“Trying to navigate all the updates, rules, what you can and cannot do was not enjoyable,” says Kate. “My heart goes out to anyone who was affected by the pandemic, wedding-related
MAKING MEMORIES: So what will guests remember? Craig says, “That we did something different. Nothing was your average, typical, traditional wedding.”
COMPATIBILITY
If you consider the ceremony as the centrepiece of your celebration, then it’s important to have an officiant who gives you good vibes – someone who can capture the essence of who you are and then authentically tell your story. Has your officiant shown interest in who you are as individuals and as a couple? Have they asked how you met, why you love each other, and where you see yourselves going as you build a future together? You should also be curious to know who your officiant is and whether or not they are the right person to narrate your nuptials.
QUALITIES TO LOOK FOR IN A WEDDING OFFICIANT
SOME ADVICE: The bride insists that you should hire a planner. (Mahla Pourshamsa and team from The Eventeur handled this one.) And from the groom: “Don’t sacrifice your big day and moments to please someone else. It’s your day.”
Your wedding day is one of the most personal and intimate moments of your life and one you will be looking back on with fond memories. That’s why choosing the right officiant should never be an afterthought. Find your officiant early; don’t wait until the last minute, but don’t rush to make a decision, either. The connection you establish with your officiant will set the tone for your ceremony.
PERSONALITY
First impressions are everything. While your officiant is not going to pretend that you are long-time friends, you do want your guests to have a sense that you know who your officiant is and that they’ve taken the time to establish a relationship with you. Are you meeting your officiant for the first time on your wedding day or have you made it a priority to get to know them? Is your officiant friendly, approachable and easy to talk to? Do they come across as organized and knowledgeable? Do they know how to work a crowd?
PUNCTUALITY
Officiants are invited to perform wedding ceremonies in a variety of places and spaces. But whether it’s in a church or chapel, on a beach or a boardwalk, in an indoor or outdoor setting, the officiant should arrive early to familiarize themselves with the venue and its staff. Make sure your officiant has also made you a priority. Are they giving you the undivided time and attention you deserve or is their time spent checking their watches and adding to what may already be a stressful day?
CREATIVITY
Classic traditions are nice, but creating your own is even better. Your officiant can find creative ways to weave the rites and rituals that reflect your cultures, ethnic backgrounds, faith traditions, and interests into the wedding ceremony they are crafting. Rings and “repeat after me” are not required if you have something more creative in mind.
FLEXIBILITY
A perfectly-planned wedding can still have its share of hiccups. Your officiant should be prepared to adapt to ever-changing itineraries. Can they go with the flow or are they set in their ways? Are they able to navigate unpredictable situations and mediate unexpected conflicts?
ORIGINALITY
Every couple has a unique story to tell, so make it personal. Your personalities, passions, and plans for the future should all be a part of your story. The Exchanging of Vows is your moment to really speak to one another and publicly share what’s in your hearts. If you opt to write your own, your officiant should help you craft the perfect words and coach you in delivering the most important performance of your life.
CREDIBILITY
Good officiants get good reviews, but great officiants get great reviews. Take time to browse your officiant’s website, scroll through their social media and read what other couples are saying about their ceremonies and services. If couples are talking about them, then you definitely want them talking for you on the day of your wedding.
AFFORDABILITY
You get what you pay for, and you’ve already spent time and money securing a venue, deciding on a dress, and finding a florist, photographer, cake, and caterer. So, why go bargain hunting for an officiant? Gift yourselves the ceremony you deserve. Find an officiant who takes pride in crafting personalized, meaningful, entertaining, and unforgettable ceremonies and will help you tell the story of the journey to one of the biggest moments of your life.

1/ MAKE IT YOUR OWN
Gone are the days of cookie-cutter ceremonies. Choose the readings that mean something to you. Select the music that makes you smile. Keep the ceremony short and sweet, or take the time to make it extra meaningful. Be sure that as your guests watch you exchange vows, they think, “That was so them!”
2/
SPEAK UP
Make sure everyone can hear you clearly. Often, the guests in the back strain to hear the
I dos. Use a microphone or your best outdoor voice so no one misses a word. Speak with the o ciant and ask that they whisper your lines to you, and only you and your partner use the mic. This way, it doesn’t appear as though you’re repeating someone else's words.
3/
ASK THE OFFICIANT TO MOVE
The kiss and the vows are money shots for your photographer, but many times o ciants end up in the images. Politely discuss with your o ciant that you’d appreciate if they’d step
aside for the big moments, allowing your photog to get intimate photos of you and your partner without their hovering in the background.
4/
WATCH THE SEATING
Be sure there are enough seats for all guests (particularly for outdoor weddings) and label the first few rows for your VIP family and friends. Consider a circular seating area if you have the chance. Position yourselves in the middle of the circle so that everyone has a great view.
5/
GO UNPLUGGED
This trend began a few years ago and is still going strong. Ask guests to put their phones away for the duration of the ceremony, or for certain parts. It keeps arms and phones out of the professional photos and allows your guests to be more present during the important moments.
6/
DON’T TAKE IT TOO SERIOUSLY
Of course, getting married is a seriously big deal, but don’t forget to laugh. Include a “flower man” who lavishly throws petals down the aisle (or better yet, hands out drinks to your guests). Have members of the wedding party hold up cue cards with instructions like “Applause” or “Awwww”. Your loved ones will enjoy anything fun or quirky. Laugh if you want to laugh. Cry if you want to cry. Talk back to the crowd if you feel so inclined. Being less formal will take away the stress and leave you with lasting memories.

WEDDING TRENDS TO WATCH FOR IN 2023
SAY CHEESE
RETRO VIBES
Welcome back, '80s fashion! Look for high shoulders, long sleeves and big bows. And don’t forget the gloves! But don’t worry – this won’t be an exact repeat of the decade. ink classier and more subdued. And let’s just hope that '80s hair stays away for good.
You know how old styles and fashion tend to repeat themselves? Well this goes for wedding trends, too. Can you believe that disposable cameras are back? In the 1990s and 2000s, you couldn’t go to a wedding without seeing cameras on your plate. These retro beauties are back, and still just as fun. The only problem? Finding a handy location to get your images developed!
MORE MISMATCHING
When it comes to bridesmaids' dresses and even groomsmen’s suits, we will see less matchy-matchy, and more every-person-forthemselves. Length, cut, colour, print – all options are up for grabs. Let each person in your wedding party feel comfortable, beautiful and unique.
INDIVIDUAL SEATING CARDS
Valary Chrisman, planner and designer at Vivid & Vogue Weddings & Events says, “Individual cards (whether attached to a sign or to glasses of Champagne or flower arrangements or jars of honey) are remaining popular as a fun twist to the traditional escort card. Mirrored seating charts are out. They’re delicate, almost always impossible to read, and often being replaced by wood or vinyl for a similar look that’s a little more practical.”
TROPICAL GETAWAYS
We are still recovering from COVID travel bans, so people are itching to get on a plane. Watch for more destination weddings, bachelor/bachelorette trips and pre-wedding vacations (not to mention the post-wedding honeymoon). Make sure your passport is up-to-date well ahead of time – the process can take months!
TEXTURAL TABLESCAPES
“Texture, texture, texture,” says Valary. “I’m loving mixing textures of tablecloths, napkins, chargers, and di erent stationery elements on the table. It feels modern and makes a big di erence to upgrade from the basic white tablecloths many venues provide.”

Home sweet home
In the mood for a more intimate event?
Sticking close to home might be an option.
BY SARAH BARRY, LUMINOUS WEDDINGS
When it comes to weddings, COVID-19 has changed everything, especially when thinking about what type of venue to have. And while smaller weddings are more popular now, so are at-home weddings. The thought of planning a wedding at your home can be challenging, but it’s definitely possible to make the day just as beautiful and special. Even though it’s at home, you can still have all the things that any other wedding would include, like wedding décor, flowers, photography, etc.
Here are some tips to make an at-home wedding beautiful and unforgettable. Hire professional vendors. Just because you're having your wedding at home, doesn't mean that you need to do everything yourself. You can still bring in the pros to help make your wedding dreams come to life.
Plan a site visit. Before your wedding, it may be a good idea for vendors like the planner and/or photographer to visit and have time to see the space. They’ll be able to see the di erent spaces and how they can work with them in the most e ective way. Clear your clutter. While considering the layout of your home, it’s important to consider what personal items will be seen and what may be captured in photos. Tucking away all non décor items like magazines, mail, even lamp wires, will make all the di erence.
Embrace the backyard. The backyard is often a great spot to capture beautiful photos and also take advantage of the naturally beautiful setting around trees and gardens. You can also utilize the outdoor features of your home, like the front entrance, or decorate your pool with flowers.

Go outside the lines
If neutrals are your thing, get outside your comfort zone by adding a few pops of colour to your home. You don’t have to go crazy – just a few items can add some personality to the rooms in your house. Don’t forget to add these types of housewares to your registry!
Furniture
Just a single piece of furniture can bring life to a room. So stick with neutral for the major items, like couches and loveseats, but toss in the colour with some smaller items.
Chair, IKEA, $135
Pillows
One easy way to add some colour is throw pillows. The great thing is that you can completely alter the look of a room with just this one little accent. And you can change your pillows out seasonally to give your room a fresh look. Consider purchasing covers for your existing pillows to keep costs down.

Amorous Andalusia
MOMENTS OF PURE PERFECTION AWAIT NEWLYWEDS IN SOUTHERN SPAIN, WHERE COSMOPOLITAN GLAMOUR MELDS SEAMLESSLY WITH ANCIENT TREASURES.
Not much has changed in the passionate province of Andalusia over the past few centuries – and this is a good thing. The birthplace of bull fighting and Flamenco dancing is still awash with whitewashed villages, olive groves and citrus trees, sherry barrels and sun-drenched beaches, modern art and Roman ruins – proof that in spirited Spain, it is impossible to be too romantic.
CÓRDOBA
Córdoba was one of Europe’s biggest cities a thousand years ago when it was the vibrant capital of Islamic Spain, a centre for education and commerce. Now, the whole town centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, replete with stone laneways, gold-stone buildings and serene courtyards.
WHAT TO DO: First stop – the beautiful Mezquita – once a mosque, then a cathedral and now a museum – the showpiece of the city, one of the world’s most exquisite examples of Islamic architecture. Of the city’s many palaces, Palacio de Viana is one of the finest, a Renaissance gem with a dozen or so patios filled with plants.
WHERE TO EAT: Restaurante Puerta Sevilla serves cocina tradicional, the real deal – lovely ham, perfect sea bass, fresh artichokes and soothing salmorejo, a cold tomato and bread soup. puertasevilla.com
WHERE TO STAY: Hotel Hospes Palacio del Bailío is a modern delight in a historical building with elegant rooms and Roman-style baths in the lower-level spa. hospes.com/en/palacio-bailio turismodecordoba.org/touristoffices

LITTLE
ROAD TRIP TIPS
Driving in a foreign country always draws a few challenges into the holiday equation. But provided you’re equipped with the rules of the road, a little patience and a crack navigator, your journey should roll right along.
Obtain an international drivers license before your trip (available at CAA), and familiarize yourself with all the local traffic signs and laws. Have an emergency plan should you need it. This includes roadside service, health insurance information and emergency telephone numbers.
Spring for the extra, no-fault car-rental insurance. Pre-wrap your head around the insurance you already carry through your credit card, and whether or not that will suffice in your destination.
Plan your route in advance –and heed the speed limits at all times. You don’t know what’s around the next corner: Be wary of cyclists, slow-moving campers, farm equipment and the like. Everyone shares the road in Europe, even the sheep.
SEVILLA
“So famous, so unknown” is the tagline for this town, once a Moorish capital, now a living museum. Check out its winding laneways, tiny tapas bars, Baroque churches and Flamenco clubs.
WHAT TO DO: Tour the world’s largest Gothic cathedral, which houses the remains of Christopher Columbus. Then head to the many sections of Real Alcázar, a spectacle of both Christian and Islamic architecture, and a location for Game of Thrones. Wander up the Metropol Parasol – better known as Las Setas, translated to The Mushrooms – for a dazzling view of the city.
WHERE TO EAT: Stop into historic sweet shop Confitería La Campana for traditional cakes. Set the evening aside for the inventive menu at Restaurante Desacato, a modern environment to counterbalance all the antiquation. restaurantedesacato.com
WHERE TO STAY: Make the Hotel Las Casas de la Judería de Sevilla your central home base, getting lost in the little nooks and crannies that surround the rooftop pool. Nightcap it in the grand Piano Bar.
lascasasdelajuderiasevilla.com vistasevilla.es/en
If you can, avoid the busy times of day on the road. Try to reach your hotel parking lot before rush hour begins, particularly in cities with very narrow streets. And no driving at night, please!

Personality Honeymoons
When it comes to planning the perfect honeymoon, find a destination that suits you as a couple. Maybe you’ve bonded over your love of French cuisine, or your desire to explore wildlife. The world is full of a variety of unique destinations to fit a range of personality types from the adventurous pair, to the wine enthusiasts.
A trip to Peru is perfect for couples who are looking to experience a little of everything on their honeymoon. They have beaches and wildlife, sand dunes and deserts, big cities to explore, and mountain ranges with treks to Machu Picchu. Admittedly, this won’t be the most relaxing itinerary because there’s a lot of travel involved, but not everybody aims to just park it on the beach and drink.
Begin the trip by flying into Lima, the capital of Peru, staying at the beautiful Westin Lima Hotel, AC Hotel by Marriott Lima Miraflores, or the Aloft Lima Miraflores depending on what suits your needs. The Heavenly Spa at the 5-star Westin Lima Hotel is incredible. Get a relaxing couples massage or relax in the thermal circuit to feel completely rejuvenated after a long travel day. Dining and service at the AC Lima is absolutely incredible, offering plenty of fresh ceviche and traditional dishes (with Pisco sours, of course) as you take in views of the Peruvian Sea. Lima is full of mystery, giving visitors access to so much public art, beautiful spaces like Love Park and ancient ruins right in the city limits.
From there, leave the city of Lima to take about a 3 1/2 hour car ride to the Hotel Paracas, a Luxury Collection Resort. The hotel is stunning, with private bungalows, some even with their own pool – perfect for newlyweds looking to splurge for some added privacy. Many rooms have huge soaking tubs and beautiful views with patios out front. Along the shoreline, you can relax in beach chairs or hammocks and there is a place for guests to rent bikes and water sports equipment. There are two pools on the property, one just outside the restaurant and one on the

other overlooking the beach where you can watch the sunset. They also keep them heated yearround. Ballestas, the restaurant on the property, exceeded expectations, delivering delicious dishes and local foods to try. The resort also offers some incredible excursions. Take a boat ride out to The Ballestas Islands where you’ll see boobie birds, penguins, seals and maybe even some bottlenose dolphins passing through. The desert adventure with the resort is truly an experience. A guide takes you out about 20 minutes to the desert and from there you can experience his wild driving through the dunes until you reach your picnic spot. The guide also gives you an opportunity to sandboard if that’s something you want to try. Learn about and taste fresh ceviche at Chalana and enjoy raw, sweet scallops and fresh fish. After the excitement from the city, it’s a great place to
The Wine Enthusiasts: NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE
If you and your new spouse love wine, Niagaraon-the-Lake is a quaint little town in Ontario, surrounded by excellent wineries, delicious ciders and craft beers. Check into the Old Ivy Walk for a bed-and-breakfast experience with a bit of a European feel. The owner keeps the place extremely clean and the B&B is modern, with beautiful soaking tubs and comfortable accommodations. There are fireplaces and vintage pieces throughout the room to add some character, with all the modern amenities you crave like a refrigerator to keep your wine bottles cold and a TV to relax with a movie at the end of the evening. Be sure to meet some other guests from around the world and chat with them during a breakfast of homemade croissants, baked treats, bacon, yogurt parfaits, and fresh coffee. Head to the main strip to check out Queen Street. The area is known for icewine, Christmas décor, hats, old time candies and so much more. There are various boutiques and small local shops selling delicious specialty foods (like icewine jelly!). Nearby, pop into Nina Gelateria & Pastry Shop for a pastry or a piping hot crêpe filled with
relax and prepare for your final destination. From Paracas, head back to Lima and hop on an hour flight to Cusco (keep the elevation change in mind). Head to Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel to experience some truly amazing meals and activities. Join a “Pago a la tierra’’ ceremony – a traditional Incan ritual that translates to “payment to the earth.” During the ceremony, the Shaman will guide you through the gifts the Andean people generally give to the “Pachamama” (Mother Earth) and provide a blessing. Take the train from Cusco to Machu Picchu to see one of the wonders of the world. Tours are offered for Machu Picchu, explaining the different stone structures and the history along the way. There are multiple spots to take incredible photos, including making the journey up a large stone staircase (1,600 steps) to get to
the top. After an afternoon of hiking around Machu Picchu, head back down to the village to explore local shops and restaurants. Inkaterra is incredible and has flavourful Pisco sours. Back at Tambo del Inka, they create wonderful dining experiences for guests to try some local cuisine overlooking views of the Andes. You’re able to try local trout, alpaca, lamb, local potatoes and plenty of vegetables from their organic garden in a really intimate setting. If you’re looking for a change of scenery (that also happens to bring you a little closer to the airport), end your trip at Hotel Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel. There’s nearly 500 years of history within the walls where an Incan palace once was. The hotel is a museum holding artifacts, instruments, and a gallery of art paying tribute to the history of the property.
savory or sweet ingredients. If you’re craving something more substantial, pop into Pieza Pizzeria for delicious Neapolitan pizza. The Oban Inn is a must for dinner, with delicious pasta made from scratch, steaks dishes and seafood.
Niagara-on-the-Lake has some wonderful wineries nearby, specializing in more than just sweet icewine. In addition to wine, swing into Niagara Oast House Brewers. If interested, there’s a brewery tour for people that want to learn about the process of making the beers, or particularly some seasonal favourites like the strawberry rhubarb ale that literally sells practically before it can hit the shelves. They use fresh, top-notch ingredients in their beers, coming up with some truly unique, delicious flavors. If you’re a wine lover, stop by Stratus Vineyards for an elegant tasting. Their wines are on the pricier side, but they are high quality and award winning.
If you and your new spouse enjoy winter activities or you happen to have a winter wedding leading to a winter honeymoon, check out The Niagara Icewine Festival. It generally happens in January, and they have food and icewine cocktails, competitions, tastings and ice bars, and all the shops are open for guests to explore.

The Unplugged Couple: THE MOHICANS
Out of all the beautiful places in the U.S., you might be wondering why Glenmont, Ohio would be on the list. About an hour and a half outside of Cleveland is The Mohicans Treehouse Resort and Wedding Venue. Not only can the property host beautiful weddings if couples want to exchange vowsat the Grand Barn before honeymooning there, but there are multiple, drastically different treehouses and cabins to choose from on the property.
Guests get a little cell service, and you can make calls from the Grand Barn, but for the most part, the treehouses do not have Wi-Fi, forcing you to connect and unplug. They come with modern amenities, in addition to special ones, each a little different. Some of the houses were even featured on Treehouse Masters. The El Castillo Treehouse has a stunning spiral staircase, a spacious bedroom upstairs, a bathroom with an indoor shower, an outdoor shower, a kitchen, a TV that works with DVDs only, a balcony, and more. The Silver Bullet actually has an airstream
TREEHOUSE FUN FACTS
On May 1st, 2012, The Mohicans began an exciting project with treehouse designer and star of Discovery Channel's new series Treehouse Masters, Pete Nelson, and commenced building their first treehouse, the White Oak. They have since completed a second Pete Nelson treehouse that was featured on the show in June 2013.
van in the tree that has additions built onto it like a huge sizable bathroom with a sauna. This treehouse also has an outdoor shower, an outdoor seating area and patio, a TV for DVDs, a kitchen area, and a table with benches. This one is a little tinier, but has a ton of character. The View Treehouse has a wonderful outdoor seating space with an umbrella, table and chairs along with a pair of Adirondack chairs. This is a two bed treehouse, but both beds are larger, a full and a queen. Nearby, you can head to Landoll’s Mohican Castle to eat at their restaurant, The Copper Mug, that has amazing lobster bisque or head into town to eat at Black Fork Bistro with tasty selections like shrimp and grits. There are also grocery stores in the area if you want to pick up coal and steaks to grill on the property and enjoy a meal by the fire together.
The tour season runs from May to October and the tours generally last around 2 1/2 hours, riding seven ziplines, crossing rope bridges, repels, and a bungee/repel at the end. There are plenty of places nearby to rent kayaks and canoes in the summer, as well.
The Hopeless Romantics: PARIS
If you’ve ever been to Paris and experienced it for yourself, it’s easy to see why they call it the “City of Love.” Whether it’s a group of close girlfriends having lunch and laughing or a couple on their honeymoon dancing in the twinkling light from the Eiffel Tower, the whole city just exudes romance.
The Hôtel Grand Amour is decorated beautifully with incredible art pieces and plenty of fresh greenery and flowers, giving it a beautiful, romantic feel. As you’re exploring the city with a crêpe in one hand and the other hand locked into your new spouse, check out some of the most romantic things the city offers. Taking a beautiful scenic boat ride along the Seine to view famous sites from the water. Along the way, the boat goes under the Pont Marie. There’s a legend with this romantic bridge in Paris that as you pass underneath you must make a wish with your eyes closed and kiss your neighbour so your wish comes true. The romantic side of Paris is all around, so special experiences aren’t hard to come by. You can climb the Eiffel Tower and have coffee and a chocolate croissant at the top while taking in views of the city. Explore the city during the evening. Near the Eiffel Tower, there’s often impromptu couples dancing together to soft music. Discover the city’s historical sites together throughout the city like Notre Dame Cathedral, Palace of Versailles, Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre.
Taste some French dishes together like macarons at Angelina, foie gras from Café Georges V, a raw seafood platter with winkles, oysters, cockles, and sea snails from Brasserie L’Alsace, and some of the best escargot, escargots de Bourgogne en beurre persillé, cooked in a flavourful Burgundy wine sauce with plenty of fresh parsley and butter is a dish not to miss.

The Adventurous Couple: OAHU
If you and your new spouse are active and love adventure, Hawaii was made for you. Oahu, in particular, is packed with wildlife, adventures, and beautiful landscapes while also providing luxury properties to relax and unwind in between activities.
Without a doubt, part of your stay needs to be at Turtle Bay Resort. This is, by far, one of the most beautiful hotels you will ever lay your eyes on. The stunning views of the beach and the sunset with the open concept of the hotel design flawlessly executed. The resort has private beach access, amenities for guests like parties and activities, pool access, and so much more and that’s all in addition to the gorgeous rooms.
While on the property, check out Paniolo Pā‘ina,, their version of a luau done a little differently. That said, couples can still expect a pig roast, fire dancers, and good cocktails.
Sign up for a Wild Side Specialty Tour, a water safari where the crew brings guests out on the boat to see what they discover along the way. On any given day, passengers can encounter dolphins, whales, whale sharks, turtles, and all kinds of wildlife and sea creatures to swim with. If the boat encounters an animal, the captain will gauge if it’s safe for guests and the animals to swim together and allow you to dive in if conditions are safe.
At One Ocean Diving, guests can snorkel with sharks. One Ocean Diving is incredible when going over safety procedures and providing
guests with an ethical way to dive with sharks. Generally, divers will encounter Galapagos sharks, but you can also see black tips, Tiger sharks, and more. You are free diving with these animals, but you’re close to the boat with professionals around you.
Check out the Mālama Hawai‘i experience at Kualoa Ranch if you’re adventurous, but you’re not looking to be in the water. Couples can head over to Kualoa Ranch for some different kinds of experiences. One is actually working with locals to learn about medicinal plants and the importance of crops and growth in Hawaii, helping out there whether it’s with planting, picking vegetables, or any other chores that they need done. The other is the Guided UTV Adventure at Kualoa Ranch. Around the property, there are various movie sites where huge films have been made. Guests can take a UTV ride around the valleys to discover sites from Jurassic World, George of the Jungle, King Kong, and even the original Jurassic Park.
Explore local dishes together, from roadside fruits to traditional dishes. Visit the Dole Plantation to have a Dole whip from the motherland, instead of Disney World. Check out some roadside fruit stands selling delicious coconuts and mangoes. Visit Waiahole Poi Factory to try a bit of everything on the Kanaka Nui platter. This includes chicken long rice, kalua pig, laulau, poi (taro root), haupia, and lomi salmon. Finally, split a shave ice from North Shore Shave Ice for a sweet treat (and don’t forget the lychee cream).

Dead serious
Experiencing the Dead Sea in Israel is like nothing else in this world.
Even though Israel is called the holy land, with certain areas being known mainly for religion and rich history, there’s a lot more to explore within the country. From successful olive orchards and vineyards in the desert, to the art and nightlife in Tel Aviv and a bustling food scene in Jerusalem, there’s a lot that might surprise you about the country. With everything else the country has to offer, one main pull when it comes to visiting Israel is floating in the Dead Sea.

Checking into the Isrotel Nevo Dead Sea Hotel
Isrotel Nevo Dead Sea Hotel is the perfect place to stay to put you right near an accessible path to the Dead Sea. The hotel is set back just a little bit, across the street from the Dead Sea, with a two-story pool overlooking the water. Isrotel Nevo is equipped with a relaxing spa for guests to enjoy, a gym, and the food right in house is unbelievable with buffets for breakfast filled with everything from pickled fish and olive, to a wide variety of Middle Eastern desserts and entrées for dinner. It’s a great way to try a wide selection of dishes. Aside from the hotel itself being a great experience, guests can cross the street to find a small beach area that leads into the Dead Sea.
Float in the Dead Sea
You might think that visiting the Dead Sea is just as simple as strolling right in and floating, but there are some safety rules to keep in mind. First of all, there are huge salt crystals below the surface that are difficult to step on. Tread carefully over the crystals or pack water shoes. It’s really important to keep your head out of the water to avoid getting any salty water in your eyes or mouth. Make sure you’re hydrated and try to avoid drinking any alcohol before you enter the Dead Sea. Also, refrain from shaving
before your swim and be sure to use the fresh water showers to rinse all of the salt out of your swimsuit, off of your skin, and out of your hair. To avoid getting dehydrated, keep your soak to about 10 to 20 minutes max and drink plenty of fresh water.
Dead Sea Mud and Skin Care Products
The mud at the Dead Sea is said to have some incredible properties.
With the Dead Sea being the lowest level for a body of water, protected by mountains, the mud is loaded with potassium, magnesium, and more. It is said that Dead Sea mud can potentially help with a wide variety of health issues like psoriasis, arthritis, skin tone, back pain, and acne. There are also helpful products to take home, like mud masks that make your skin soft and smooth.
Visit Masada
After a day lounging by the beach, getting all of those amazing benefits from the Dead Sea, head over to soak in a little history at Masada, a natural fortress overlooking The Dead Sea. Visitors can ascend on a cable car up the mountain to learn about the fortress palace built by Herod and the rich history behind the ruins.

honeymoon should be a unique, special, and memorable adventure. is is the rst trip a couple is taking during their marriage and it should be a new experience that they share together. Touring Bodrum, Turkiye (Turkey), the pearl of the Aegean Sea, in a chartered gulet or yacht would be just such an adventure. Bodrum is both a city and an area in southwestern Turkiye. e Bodrum peninsula spans several bays along the Aegean Sea and sits directly across from Greece. An Aegean paradise, Bodrum is home to Halicarnassus one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Like Santorini, all the seaside buildings are white, yet this area is not overrun with tourists like its famous counterpart. Bodrum has several bays for boating, swimming, water sports and sur ng, and the area is a unique blend of history and nature. Coloured bottles hang from trees and evil eye mosaics are everywhere. e area is full of stone houses, Mediterranean restaurants on the sea and can only be described as serene. ey say once you visit Bodrum, you will never leave the same. e rst thing every visitor must experience is a Bodrum sunset. e sunsets are visible from every bay and area of the city, and they truly are incredible. Watching a Bodrum sunset has been described as a form of meditation. e sun seems so much larger and to take so much longer to drop. As it descends the sky keeps changing colours from one spectacular palette to another and creates a truly romantic atmosphere.
e city has a thriving sea-side nightlife, with many visitors from the docked yachts. While there are many 5-star resorts in the area, you will also see the most incredible yachts from around the world in the ports, and gullet or yacht rental is very popular. I had the opportunity to go for a chartered yacht tour on the aptly named, “Love Boat,” and what an
amazing experience it was! ere were 18 of us on a four-level yacht for three days. Our gulet had 13 beautiful cabins, each with its own ensuite washroom. (A gulet is a wooden motorized sailing ship, designed speci cally for the Turkish Aegean waters.) All dining is communal at large wooden tables with every square inch covered with platters of fresh, delicious
Mediterranean food. Evenings were spent having a dance party on the deck under coloured lights, in deep conversation, or in the main area playing games. With many decks and areas there is the chance for romantic moments away from the group, like stargazing on the top deck, or cuddling up on one of the loungers. During the day we sailed from bay to bay and stopped to kayak, paddle board and skim along the Aegean coast. e crew took care our every need.
Chartering a yacht for a week is as expensive or inexpensive as you would like and can work out to be less investment than staying at an all-inclusive resort, and the experience is incomparable. Yachts and gullets are available at all di erent sizes and levels of luxury, and you and your guests can decide on what type of experience and route you would like to enjoy. All your meals and snacks are included, and if you would like alcohol, you can pre-order it at cost, or purchase it at a store near the pier and they will deliver it to the ship. A private yacht tour truly is the perfect destination wedding and honeymoon experience to enjoy with your closest friends or family.
