From the District Director It’s an important time of the year. First of all, Happy New Year. I hope your year has gotten off to an excellent start. We are half-way through the Toastmasters year; how are you doing on your goals? There are a number of events which take place around this time. But first, the big news is that the new education program, Pathways, will be launching in our District on 20 March. I would encourage you to take a look at what Pathways offers. There will be a transition time for people to wrap up their current education and leadership awards, which will continue until June 2020. All members joining after 20 March this year will automatically be enrolled in Pathways. There’s more information in this issue of the newsletter so take the time to read up. th
I attended training in Lisbon with our Club Growth Director John Cox (our Program Quality Director Patricia O’Reilly stayed behind, as the arrival of twin grand-daughters was imminent!). In Lisbon, we had the opportunity to listen to great leaders including Region Advisor Aletta Rochat, our International Director Morag Mathieson, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Toastmasters International Mr. Dan Rex. A lot of information was passed on during the training as well as taking a good look at where we are as a District in relation to our goals. Another exciting piece of news is that the CEO, Daniel Rex, will be our keynote speaker at the D71 conference in Cork. This is a real honour, and I hope you will be able to attend the conference and meet Dan yourself. He is an amazing person, and a great representative of our organisation. He’ll deliver the keynote on Saturday, and also do a workshop at the conference. He is a fantastic speaker and you will not be disappointed. Please come. District 71 Toastmasters newsletter
