CELEBRATING TMC’S NEW

SOUTH CAROLINA TERMINAL!

TMC celebrated the grand opening of our new terminal in Columbia, South Carolina, on June 10.

With more than 100,000 square feet of space between the administration building and maintenance shop, the new terminal—located next to our driver training center—brings together all of our Columbia-area operations for greater collaboration and efficiency.

At the grand opening, TMC employee-owners gathered with customers, vendors, and community members—as well as NASCAR stars Sammy Smith and Dale Earnhardt Jr.—for a cookout and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The celebration provided an opportunity to look back on TMC’s 50-plus years of excellence and integrity, starting with its founding by late CEO Harrold Annett in 1972.

“We wouldn’t be here if Harrold Annett hadn’t laid the foundation for us,” TMC President Travis Johnson said at the event. “Back in 1972, I’m not sure he ever envisioned us getting this big. I know he’s looking down on us right now, and I know he’d be very proud of what we’ve accomplished. He built this culture into what it is today.”

The Family Assistance Fund (FAF) is an accumulation of voluntary payroll deductions from TMC employees and independent contractors. The fund helps employees and independent contractors in times of disaster, severe illnesses, and hardships when no other resources or options are available.

When one of our coworkers is dealing with hardship, the FAF lets us step up and help in a tangible way. We celebrate births of babies, and we grieve with those facing loss. The fund also awards college scholarships to dependents of TMC employees each spring and offers charitable donation matching.

BLACK AND CHROME SALUTES

We want to recognize driver Jason Scott, who went above and beyond to help an injured motorist over Memorial Day weekend. Here’s what happened, in Jason’s own words:

“Driving onto US Route 11 in Pennsylvania heading north, I looked into my passenger side mirror and saw a vehicle go up and down into the ditch off of the road. I pulled over and went back to the guard rail and yelled down while on the phone with 911. I got no response from the vehicle, so I ran back to my truck and put my work boots on and went down into the dirt and about a foot of water to try to help. I pulled the door open, and one driver was in the car, body limp. I told him help was on the way, and luckily an off-duty firefighter came by randomly and gave some help and gave the exact location, and help arrived in about 10 minutes. They considered bringing in the airlift before they got the driver’s exact condition, but he regained consciousness. This former navy hospital corpsman became an unintentional hero on Memorial Day!”

Thank you, Jason, for your courage and your willingness to help others! We’re proud that you’re part of TMC.

During loading at Keystone Concrete, Tom offered to help me strap my load and offered some safety tips. He was very polite and easy to talk to. Thank you, Tom, and I appreciate your help. Keep trucking safely!

-Sharrieff Banks to Thomas Scheller

Shout-out to the Columbia shop. They did a great job and were very thorough and detailed in my service and items that needed to be addressed on my truck. The following are the ones that deserve an attaboy: Nathan Wannamaker, David Jenkins, Travis Watson, Rodney Wood, Ron Housey, Andrew Sanner, and Jacob Schirmer. Thank you to each of these guys for all the hard work and attention to details.

-Eddie Westmoreland to the Columbia shop

Gave me great securement and general “trucking for TMC” advice. Also gave me a windshield wiper because he noticed mine was broken and I hadn’t been able to get one yet.

-Logan Naranjo to David Parent

My landing gear was stuck, and I didn’t have tools to remove the handle to raise the gear manually. Tye was more than courteous enough to let me borrow some of his tools and offered more if I needed more of them. His kindness was greatly appreciated.

-Jesus Quezada to Jye Green

At the shipper, I realized that I needed a few more bungees to properly secure my tarp. I walked to AJ and asked if I could have four or five of his. He immediately gave me the bungees and also told me that he is a new driver and how much he likes TMC. I thanked him for helping me out and we talked for a moment. Seems like a great guy and I appreciated his help. Side note, his securement and tarp job was on-point.

-Florian Berger to AJ McKenna

Driver went out of his way to help me fold tarps when it wasn’t asked of him! Go Chris!

-Wade Stephens to Christopher Jackson

She spent time teaching me how to correctly strap my load I had. She was patient and kind and very helpful. She’s a five-year vet and now I know why—because of her hard work.

-Gabriel Lara to Donna Slaughter

I met these guys a while back, and they have helped me in my flatbed and trucker career. As a new driver, I was struggling with starting. I have used them as a book of knowledge, and they have never not been there for me. They deserve the best and help me almost every week with problems. I commend them highly

-Noah Hamrick to Anthony Tucker and Philip Summerville

Lost my load bar and Ken dropped everything and brought me a spare. Much appreciated, especially on a holiday.

-William Lawton to Ken Neal
