CELEBRATION EVENING 2023 6 PROGRAM

TINTERN GRAMMAR GIRLS' SCHOOL SONG

Factis non verbis

Come Tinternites all, young and old, near and far. Lend your voices and swell our School Song. Our School with its burdens well borne in the past, Its foundations laid steady and strong.

‘Tis by deeds, not by words, that we stand or we fall; So we’ll work with a will. Yes we’ll work one and all, For the welfare and honour of Tintern.

Of our homeland we’ll sing, young Australians are we, And in love of our country we’re one.

In our minds be the breadth of her wide rolling plains, In our hearts the glad warmth of her sun.

‘Tis by deeds, not by words, that we stand or we fall, So whenever she needs us we’ll answer her call. And we’ll work for our own land, Australia.

To be true to our God, to our Country, our School And repay the great debt that we owe, Let our joy be in service with no thought of self, So that all those who meet us may know

‘Tis by deeds not by words that we offer our praise To the School, and to those who, in earlier days, Helped to build the traditions of Tintern.

TINTERN GRAMMAR BOYS' SCHOOL SONG

Southwood Boys' Song

Standing tall, many voices one, We are here for the journey on Pioneers of a brave new plan

Hope in mind, we are growing strong

Deeds above words, we’ve begun Rock and water, father, son. We are part of a faithful team. All are equal in the Southwood dream.

We are Southwood boys. Hold the compass in our hand. Stand up Southwood boys. The future of this land.

Ninety nine, our school is born. Its founders see a vision bloom. With Tintern standing by, The best of both worlds let our spirit fly.

Reaching goals with an open heart. Take control of your destiny.

Learn for life in a changing world

Be the best you can hope to be.

We are Southwood boys. Hold the compass in our hand. Stand up Southwood boys. The future of this land.

YEAR 12 LEAVING SONG

Here we stand at Tintern’s Gate Different plans for the journey that awaits

Even though it’s time to depart We’ve still got these memories in our hearts

Thank you for all these past years

The laughing, the learning with our peers Hard to leave all the bonds we made Teachers and friends by our sides they stayed It’s time to go our own way

We’ll miss productions and Brekkie wraps

The rocks, the camps and Footy with the yabs

Even though it’s time to depart We’ve still got these memories in our hearts

Thank you, but now we must go We’ll keep our compass wherever we may roam Hard to leave, and pave our own way We won’t forget, the memories that we made It’s time to go our own way

It’s bittersweet

Cause how do we say goodbye? Cheers Mr Fry

Thank you for all these past years

The laughing, the learning with our peers Hard to leave all the bonds we made Teachers and friends by our sides they stayed It’s time to go our own way

SCHOOL ANTHEM BY DEEDS NOT WORDS

Side by side, together, Tintern’s daughters, Southwood’s sons

All as one, united, we’ve become the best of each and everyone Sing for one another, hear our courage, feel our pride In the values we all hold inside, that guide each day and stay for life Side by side, together, all forever Tinternites

A school born of a mother’s dream, a home where all belong With faith in heart and a vision strong Through change we’ve grown and her dream lives on Side by side, together, all forever Tinternites

And we’ll strive to make a better world Through the values that we share With open minds we’ll see through open eyes And have the strength of heart to care

CHORUS

And we will lead the way by deeds not words Together we will stand We will lead the way by deeds not words We hold the compass in our hand

In a place where every name is known There is freedom to be who you dream to be You’re never on your own You can feel excitement in the air Look around, breathe it in, let your journey begin You can follow any path, for there’ll be someone there who cares

And together we’ll be proud to thrive and give our all With our teachers by our side

And we will find the road not walked before We’ll have the compass as our guide

Side by side, together, all forever Tinternites
