Local woman graduates from Concordia University with education degree BY SANTAN SUN NEWS STAFF
Tara Nicole Larsen of Chandler graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska on May 6. Larsen received a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was one of the 306 graduates to receive their degree this month. Rev. Dr. John Mehl of Seward, Nebraska said to the graduating students in his commencement speech, “You are being sent out this day to show God’s love
by what you do in a variety of places and in different vocations all over the world. Some of you will stay in Seward and others will go to Cambodia and everywhere in-between.” Larsen’s future plans are unknown. Mehl urged Larsen and her graduating peers to move forward and leave their past behind. “I think today should be the day when you jettison all the regrets in your past,”
Mehl said. “I’m not just talking about the poor choices you made for classes you took or those times you decided to go out instead of study. I’m talking about the big stuff as well. If there’s anything I hope you learned here is that you met Jesus. Learn from your mistakes but don’t drag it around until you die. Let the light of God’s grace shine on you.” Concordia University, founded in 1894, is a fully accredited, coeducational
university located in Seward, Nebraska that currently serves more than 2,600 students. The school offers more than 100 undergraduate, graduate and professional programs in an excellent academic and Christ-centered community that equips men and women for lives of learning, service and leadership in the church and world. “Let’s light them up and send them out,” Mehl said in closing his speech.
