The Shining Stephen King <Biography>
<Summary>
Reknowned American Author of horror, supernatural, scicence fiction, fantasy, among other things, King was born in Portland, Maine in 1947. Described as the “King of Horror”, Stephen King has made his name known for his work being pop culture icons and sold more thatn 350 million copies. He has recieved many awards for his writing and has cemeted himself as a promient figure in the horror genre.
The Shining centers on the life of Jack Torrance, a struggling writer and recovering alcoholic who accepts a position as the off-season caretaker of the historic Overlook Hotel in the Colorado Rockies. His family accompanies him on this job, including his young son Danny Torrance, who possesses “the shining”, an array of psychic abilities that allow Danny to see the hotel’s horrific past. Soon, after a winter storm leaves them snowbound, the supernatural forces inhabiting the hotel influence Jack’s sanity, leaving his wife and son in incredible danger.

Jack Torrance-Protaganist(s), Antagonist, Foil to Danny Originally seen as a sympathetic character with his desires to help his family and express himself through writing and seen as a good husband and father. Yet he faces many inner demons: temper, alcoholism, and abusive fatherfor which the Overlook Hotel amplifies that makes him the major antagonist. “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”

With many copies of The Shining, they have a “generic horror” look that feels similar to many of the covers within the genre.
Danny Torrance-Protaganist, Foil to Jack A smart and intellegent child, Danny has been seen to be gifted (with the shine). He’s perceptive and loves his father to want to save him from the corrupt nature of the Hotel and the protect his family from any harm. “Run away. Quick. And remember how much I love you”

I think the imagery is very simple and works well, but in competition with other books, I feel like the cover lacks separation that makes such a cult classic apparent on bookshelves.
