WELCOME Dear TIA Members and Industry Colleagues: Change. Disruption. Transformation. These words are often tossed around loosely, whether referring to the latest social media trend or an exciting startup. Often, the claims don’t live up to the facts. But in today’s information and communications technology (ICT) industry, the reality is remarkable. In fact, it is often hard to find terminology that accurately conveys our industry’s evolution and growth. So rather than words, let’s look at a few numbers: ▸▸ ICT spending in the U.S. grew 6.6 percent in 2013, which not only is the fastest growth rate in years, it is the first time the U.S. grew faster than the rest of the world. ▸▸ In total ICT spending, the U.S. is now the #2 region behind Asia. ▸▸ 25 percent more will be spent on wireless and wireline infrastructure in the next four years than the last four years. ▸▸ M2M spending jumped 62 percent (to $8.5 billion) in 2013 and cloud services rose 20 percent (to $56.2 billion).

▸▸ Cybersecurity spending is quickly rising – from $26.5 billion in 2009 to $40 billion in 2013.
Our event is centered on three tracks – Wireless & 5G, Software Defined Everything, Big Data & Privacy – that cut across nearly everything we do. And in tackling these issues, we’ve designed the conference to be interactive and engaging – we want you to be part of the conversation and to collaborate on solutions to the Network’s greatest challenges.

Companies will present their innovations before judges. Judges will announce the top three presentations and the winner on Tuesday afternoon, June 3, 2014. The selected winners of the TIA Disruptors Competition will receive prizes and benefits amounting to $15,000 in value! Winners will be awarded during the VIP Dinner Wednesday evening, featuring Guy Kawasaki, Tech Evangelist, and Greg Manganello, SVP of Fujitsu.
Breakfast Program: Skills & Competencies for Tomorrow’s Network LOCATION: REUNION G-H
Wednesday, June 4 8:00 AM – 9:30AM Companies must adapt to the great transformation taking place in the ICT industry. Experts in the field are retiring, and new skill sets are required of younger employees, while returning veterans are a valuable retrainable resource in technical fields. Software-defined networks will demand a shift in developing, programming, engineering, design, integration and business knowledge. Bigº data analytics will increasingly drive strategies in customer targeting, and the effective use of social media is defining success in marketing and sales tactics. This is the backdrop for the discussion by HR experts on the skills and competencies needed for tomorrow’s network.
MTBC CIO Forum: The IT Department of the Future LOCATION: REUNION G-H
Wednesday, June 4 11:45 AM – 1:00 PM Yogi Berra could’ve been a CIO when he claimed that “The future ain’t what it used to be.” Every technology conference focuses on SMAC (social, mobile, analytics & cloud). People are employed, shadowed, contracted, sub-contracted, outsourced, offshored, job-sharing, and working at home. The economics make new technologies truly cheaper, better AND faster and raise the expectations of the enterprise and its customers. Vendors rise in a heartbeat and fall just as hard. All this, against a backdrop where more companies directly “touch” their customers with technologies and the Internet of Things is embedding technology everywhere. Industry fundamentals are being changed with the emergence of new business models for production, distribution, service delivery and personalization. Against this ever-evolving scenario, our CIO panel will talk about the IT Department of the Future.

Annual VIP Dinner
Cyber breaches compromising companies both small and large have become all too common. A multi-billion dollar cybersecurity industry has flourished as technology innovation rushes to keep up with increasingly sophisticated hacking operations. In the battle to protect the networks of today and tomorrow, what best practices should be adhered to? How should executives ensure that the weakest links in the armor are strengthened? How can government, industry, academia and the public collaborate to protect global security interests and economic competitiveness? What can be done to train cybersecurity professionals qualified to meet the growing requirements of the dynamic network? TIA 2014: NETWORK OF THE FUTURE |
The investments required for installation, equipment, configuration, power, and cabling are considerable. The outlook for HetNets is pointing to some very interesting trends. Join us to hear experts discuss how to work together to enable wireless broadband coverage and capacity.

The driving need for seamless and ubiquitous wireless service is increasingly addressed by low-power solutions that get the base station closer to the user and limit the number of users per cell. These distributed antenna systems (DAS) and small cells make up the landscape for the “heterogeneous network” or HetNet.
