After squaring off to conclude in the 2018 regular season, Thorns FC square off against Seattle Reign FC for the second time in a nine-day span in the NWSL playoffs at Providence Park on Sept. 15.

MVP CAMPAIGN Now in her third season, Lindsey Horan has more than doubled her goal output from her first season with Thorns FC in 2016. The Portland midfielder currently ranks third in the NWSL with 13 goals scored, scoring 10 goals in her last 13 appearances for Portland. In addition, she leads the league in headed goals (6), successful passes in the opponents half (493), touches (1852), duels won (297), aerials won (141), ranks second passes (1293), passes completed (927), successful passes ending in the final third (252) and is tied for second dribbles completed (44). Additionally, she has 25 percent shot coversion rate, which is the second best among players with more than two goals and ranks first among field players in recoveries (218).

THE TRIFECTA Since the beginning of August, Tobin Heath, Lindsey Horan and Christine Sinclair have combined for 10 goals in league play. During that span, this trio has found each other frequently with Heath to Horan and Horan to Heath ranking first and second in that category. Heath to Horan has connected 41 passes, which is the most of any pair, while Horan to Heath has completed 40 passes, the third most and Horan to Sinclair has connected 46 passes, which ranks as the fith most among combinations in the league since August.

The match marks the 20th meeting all-time between the two clubs and the first-ever meeting in postseason play. In the last match at Providence Park on Sept. 7, Thorns FC scored three unanswered goals, including a brace from Lindsey Horan and a goal and an assist from Tobin Heath in a 3-1 win over Seattle. The all-time series against Seattle is tied at 8-8-3, with Portland posting a mark of 5-3-2 at Providence Park. Saturday’s match marks the third time in six seasons Thorns FC and Reign FC will play four times.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME Playing their home matches at downtown Portland’s iconic Providence Park, Thorns FC have led the league in attendance in each of their first six NWSL seasons. Globally, Thorns FC have the highest attendance of any women’s professional team in the world, averaging 16,959 fans in their sixth season in the league in 2018. On Sept. 7, 2018, Thorns FC recorded their fifth sellout in club history. Portland played host to Orlando in its home opener on April 15, 2018, drawing a crowd of 16,466 - the second largest crowd for a Thorns FC home opener in club history.
