NEITI: FAAC Disbursements Increased by 25 Per Cent to N6.41trn in 2017 VAT goes up by 19 per cent Chineme Okafor in Abuja The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) on Tuesday stated that the Federation

Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursed N6.418 trillion in 2017. It explained this in a statement by its Director of Communications and

Advocacy Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji , in Abuja, adding that this showed an increase of 25.8 per cent and 6.8 per cent when compared to the total disbursements of N5.1 trillion

and N6.011 trillion in 2015 and 2016 respectively. NEITI disclosed that a breakdown of the amount disbursed in 2017 showed that the federal government

received N2.564 trillion, the 36 states got N1.859 trillion while the 774 local governments shared N1.502 trillion. According to it, the information was contained

94 Students Declared Missing After Boko Haram Attack on Yobe School Michael Olugbode in Damaturu

A roll call at the Government Girls Secondary School Dapchi, in Yobe State on Tuesday revealed that 94 students were missing after a Monday evening invasion of the school by the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram. Although the police had insisted it had no report of

missing persons, a school source told journalists at Dapchi that after the roll call the large number of students could not be accounted for. NNPC Spends $5.8bn to Tackle Fuel Scarcity in 4 Months Kachikwu cautions on price increase Damilola Oyedele, Ndubuisi Francis and Chineme Okafor in Abuja The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) spent $5.8billion to import 9.3million litres of petrol in the last quarter of 2017 to date to tackle the scarcity of the essential commodity, its Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru, said on Tuesday.

The GMD of the corporation said this when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Public Accounts over the resumption of subsidy payment for petrol.
