Allen NHS conducts Cupid and Psyche 2024

Excitement filled the air for a post-hearts day celebration in Allen National High School (ANHS) as 80 pairs of students from different grade levels (68 pairs from SHS and 12 pairs from JHS), parents, and teachers gathered together for a Cupid and Psyche 2024 where elegance and unified purpose soar held on February 29, 2024 at Allen NHS Multipurpose ground.

The evening was divided into two parts, each offering a delightful array of activities In the first part, the candidates of the event bloomed with charm and elegance as they graced the event with their presence People showed respect and unity to our country by singing the Philippine National Anthem.

Followed by an invocation led by Mrs. Anquilina Tan Fernandez to seek God's guidance Furthermore, the opening remarks was led by Mrs. Chelo T. Tolcidas wherein she welcomed all of the participants of the event BAA Meet's Dancesports pair then showcased their talents in dancing to entertain the audience. Then a group of selected pairs from the event were chosen to show various performances, including cotillion and royal dance

The highlight of the evening was the draw lots to determine the fortunate pair to portray Cupid and Psyche 2024 which was the pair from Grade 8 –Loyalty namely Josh Marion Roy and Jhonnalyn Gille under the advisory Class of Sir Oliver Capangpangan who were then proclaimed and honored with special sashes, bouquets, an certificates

Allen NHS attends BSP, GSP Camp-O-Ral

To empower the students with essential life skills and uphold the principles of scouting, Allen National High School and Saint Francis College-Allen held a joint BSP and GSP Camp-O-Ral at SFC-Allen Quadrangle,February15,2024.

Thisscoutinginitiativekickedoffwith an opening ceremony which was spearheaded by the Northern Samar Council and Division Scouting Coordinator Sir Joel Salor and Allen District I Supervisor Ma'am Denmark Fernandez Present also are the BSP/GSP advisers and scout masters whose role is to guide or mentor the scouts and to ensure that they'll have meaningful experiences and opportunities for growth within the said program.

One of the highlights of the event is the investiture ceremony which was conducted to formally welcome new members into the scouting family Thus, it was a celebration of commitment, camaraderie and the spirit of scouting The said encampment will end on February 17, 2024. With memories of fun and learning fresh in their minds, they will return home inspired to continue their journey of scouting towards excellence andservicetoothers.#

ANHS CELEBRATES NATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH 2024

In commemoration of this year's National Women's Month, Allen National High School boldly tackled pressing societal concerns from March 18-19, 2024, under the theme "Lipunang Batas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!" which was attended by both teachers and selected studentsatBarayongGymnasium

Allen Northern Samar ANHS took steps to address critical societal issues, including bullying, child protection policies, safe spaces, and cervical cancer awareness, during the program Empowered women and men were also invited to lead discussions and advocate for change withintheschoolcommunity

On the first day, ANHS welcomed Dr Laira Joy V Fuentes, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, to educate students about cervical cancer and how to take preventive measures. Dr. Fuentes discussedtheimportanceofunderstanding cervical cancer and its risks. She explained that cervical cancer is a serious disease affecting women, but it can be prevented withtherightknowledgeandactions

Students learned about the availability of free cervical cancer vaccines for those aged 9-14 years old These vaccines offer protectionagainstcertainstrainsof

HPV, a primary cause of cervical cancer Additionally, Dr Fuentes stressed the critical importance of regular screening tests, such as the HPV test or Pap smear, to detect abnormal changes in the cervix early for prompt intervention and treatment She explained one woman dies every two minutes due to cervical cancer, prioritizing the urgency of preventive measures like vaccination and screening in order to prevent the cancer

In a thought-provoking symposium held on the second day of the said event, esteemed speaker Atty elmer Reyes discussed the Anti-bullying campaign and Juvenile Delinquency Moreover, Atty. Aljun Diaz and Atty. Jethro Magdaraog discussed safeguarding rights and promoting genderequalityandchildprotection.

Atty Aljun Diaz delivered information regarding the Safe Spaces Act, also referred to as R A 11313 She stressed that this law offers hope to victims of gender-based sexual harassment by imposing penalties for such actions, irrespective of the setting, be it public spaces, social media platforms, workplaces, or educational institutions suchasschools

Following Atty Diaz's insightful talk, Atty Jethro MagdaraogdelvedintotheintricaciesofR.A.7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act With a focus on upholding the best interests of the child, Atty Magdaraog elucidated the provisions of the law aimed at providing comprehensive protection to children vulnerable to exploitation and abuse in anyform.#

NOT EASY AS ABC: RAISING POOR READERS FROM SCRATCH

One persistent challenge that often lurks in the shadows of education nowadays is students’ poor reading skills. It's a dilemma that affects students from all walks of life Yet, despite efforts to improve literacy, many students struggle with reading Consequently, they find themselves falling behind, struggling to acquire the essential skills necessary for success in our technology-driven society Notably, this issue is prevalent even within the classrooms of Allen National High School

Wherever we go, information is available and ready to be read

However, for students who struggle with reading, it would be like reading a foreign language Despite the words being visible on the page, the inability to grasp their meaning transforms the text into an indecipherable maze of symbols. Without grasping the significance of the words, simply recognizing them holds no value.

There's no point in reading if the reader can't even grasp what they're reading Reading is more than just the ability to recognize words; it's about understanding the meaning of the words being read When students struggle with reading, it can limit their ability to understand information, leading to

negative academic results. Not only that, but having the ability to read is a skill that is needed for lifelong learning and success, whether it be in school or the workplace

Addressing the issue of poor readers requires a multifaceted approach. First and foremost, early intervention is paramount Identifying struggling readers and providing targeted support tailored to their individual needs can mitigate the long-term effects of poor literacy skills. This includes implementing evidence-based reading programs, offering one-onone tutoring, and fostering a supportive learning environment that celebrates progress.

Furthermore, reading and writing should always be prioritized in the classroom Reading materials should be provided in every classroom to create a reading-rich environment and encourage students to frequently engage with books This sort of activity can promote a love of learning and improve academic performance among students.

At Allen National High School, the LETRA program has been introduced to bolster students' reading proficiencies This initiative involves grouping struggling readers into specialized classes and organizing supplementary sessions to strengthen both reading and writing skills Additionally, initiatives such as DepEd's Catch-Up Fridays dedicate entire days to reading activities, allowing students to focus on refining their literary abilities.

In school, we often hear the quote, “Teachers are students’ second parents”, who nurture, guide, and scold their children. Yet, only a few would go to lengths to be deserving of such a title. In the evolving landscape of life, educators who wholeheartedly accept and lend a hand to students who are in dire need of help are rare. Especially those students who are teen mothers. Undoubtedly, a “tatak” Allen National High School-SHS teacher, ROSALYN DOMA MAMURIC is one of those rare gems. In a viral Facebook post, teacher Rosalyn is seen carrying a child, netizens are in awe when they later find out that it is the child of her student, which she refers to as “student mother”. In her words, that small gesture is out of her mother’s instinct that portray her kindness, greatness, and fairness.

Kindness is an act of caring and having the initiative to lift a person’s burden to make their lives better. I am reminded of a famous phrase that goes along the line of, “It takes a village to raise a child”, and I must say that the viral picture exhibits that. However, to nurture a child, that village must be kind and patient. Lucky enough for the student and child in the picture, ma’am Rosalyn is a kind mother and a teacher. Her kindness genuinely radiated across different souls when she offered to carry the sleeping child from the mother’s arms for her to focus on their activities, because, according to her, she saw the eagerness in her students to participate and finish their activities. In the words of Teacher Rosalyn, bearing and having a child is not a hindrance to completing and accomplishing education. In an interview, she shared that she was a mother before being a teacher, this shows that her heart goes to students and student mothers, prioritizing their needs, well-being, and growth to foster and be ready for life.

Teacher Rosalyn is graced with greatness at guiding and being a second parent to her students When asked about what should teachers do to support students and student mothers, she replied that teachers should support, help, and understand the situation student mothers are in but, also minimize the assertion and discrimination of students against them. The photo and this act are one of the many pieces of evidence that Ma’am Rosalyn is serving her passion in guiding her students to be respectful, empathetic, and caring.

Any human can be a good person, but not all people can be great. By definition, greatness is the quality of being excellent and admirable in any given circumstances in life and, it is also an act of going beyond the standard or average efforts. Some people may agree with the notion that a teacher must be good at guiding and teaching learners, with that notion in mind, teachers are striving to have greatness at what they do.

When an action is repeated twice, that only means one thing act is out of fairness to your fellow being. However, fairness can be difficult for other people to apply in their daily lives. Accordingly, fairness is the state of treating people fairly and having judgments and assertions free from discrimination. But, teachers, specifically, Teacher Rosalyn impeccably displayed it in her class. A prominent demonstration of Ma’am Rosalyn's fairness in her classroom is when she repeated her gesture of carrying one of her students’ children during the grade 12 periodical exams.

This was strongly reflected by one of the competent and prolific Science teachers and a Teacher III in Allen National High School, Mr. Ruel Carpon in his expenditure in the recently convened Plastic Research Intensive Methods Training Program (PRIMe TP Visayas) at the University of the Philippines, Tacloban College, Tacloban City held on March 16-23, 2024 . This program foresees an innovative society and protects marine life through explicit and developmental research.

Among the large number of research enthusiasts/applicants situated in Visayas to undergo rigorous screening, he was fortunately selected to take part in this quest to unravel elevated knowledge and awareness with regard to plastics research He believes that as an educator, one must not settle for the mere knowledge and skills he or she possesses because it shifts rapidly Instead, he or she must embrace the challenge with the latest innovations in teaching and

He admitted that when he finally joined the training , he went there as an empty cup He was a fish out of water It was difficult for him to keep up with lots of laboratory work because of its complexity, necessitating advanced knowledge in chemistry and laboratory apparatus manipulation Also, the protocols were a burden to him. He wasn’t used to doing four to five laboratory and field works in just a day and that task was performed every day, but luckily, he was able to adapt immediately and to be surrounded with people smarter than him is of great help for the profound insights, expertise and inspiration for elevating the experience of all attendees.

Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Otto and Edith Frank. The hope of the nation is the youth, a statement derived from Jose Rizal But I beg to add to that thought, it should be “A knowledgeable, patriotic, and respectful youth is the hope of a nation ” A blessed day to everyone who is here with me, I stand here today as a product of the DepEd Matatag curriculum But what does this DepEd curriculum have to do with us? The DepEd Matatag is a curriculum created to cater to all the needs of a Filipino learner. Now, DepEd Matatag is just one of the many pieces of evidence that our nation is for children, and with that, it produces children who are knowledgeable, patriotic, and respectful for the nation.

Knowledge is something that all learners must possess. Certainly, the DepEd Matatag provides that as it is relevant and timely for the students to be ready for the real world. The DepEd Matatag curriculum provides learners with knowledge and education to equip them with the necessary skills to be job-ready. A prime example of this is the tracks offered in Senior High Schools. With the ability of students to choose which track is best to help them, they are able to learn the knowledge they solely need to be ready in life and in academics Because of this relevant curriculum, producing learners who are job ready is now able to compete in the international level, one of the aims of this Matatag Curriculum With a relevant curriculum, surely it produces students who are educated, informed, and cultured for their nation and future

Learners who care and do not forget its roots are what this country needs right now, and the Matatag Curriculum definitely makes us patriotic with its active encouragement Because of the newly revised curriculum, an instance that warms my heart is the learners actively participating, memorizing, and singing our National Anthem and Division Hymn This just exhibits that when a nation cares for its children, certainly it will produce children that upholds and do not forget its nation's history, culture, and heritage for us to grow, progress, and flourish

Respect may be a controversial topic to talk about right now because of a viral video But believe me, the DepEd Matatag curriculum did not fail in making us respectful youth In our daily lives as students, simple initiatives can show our respect, which are helping in writing something on the blackboard, cutting papers for your classrooms, and even helping your teachers in checking some test paper As a student who does all of this, believe me, the Matatag Curriculum inflicted that value to us together with our parents

To put it precisely, one action can't change the entirety of our world. But, with a curriculum curated to answer all the needs of a learner, it will produce a knowledgeable, patriotic, and respectful youth that can be a stepping-stone for change in their country. The DepEd Matatag Curriculum is just one of the many pieces of evidence that our nation is for children that creates children for the nation. Together with the efforts, discipline, and perseverance, we strive for a brighter and fulfilled future, not just for the Filipino learners, but for every single Filipino. After all, one is better than none, right?

With this knowledge, he knows that he must do something This has ascended in Mr Carpon’s disposition- to use his newly acquired knowledge in providing technical assistance to his students who will be conducting researches involving microplastics and to help the community through the data gathered from researches to strengthen the different policies and ordinances that protect the environment and the use of single use plastics and municipal proper waste management He looks forward to provide the first ever laboratory set up capable of doing microplastic research in his respective school He knows that it'll will take a lot of time and effort to make realize this initiative but he remains positive particularly he now gets a purpose.

Mr. Carpon's transformative experience at the convention justifies the indispensable opportunities that originate from stepping out of one's comfort zone and embracing change He even admonished individuals regardless of age and gender to take action and to have interest and responsibility in protecting our environment while it is not too late. sa mga panahon ngayon, ang matinding init o extreme heat ay isang malaking problema na kinakaharap ng ating mundo. Ito ay nagdudulot ng masasamang epekto sa tao, hayop, at pati na rin sa ating kapaligiran Sa dami ng taong nagkakasakit dahil sa epekto ng matinding init, sa dami ng hayop na nawawalan ng tirahan dahil sa pagkasira ng mga ito, at ang mga pagtuyo at pagkamatay ng mga pananim at mga halamang gulay, ito ay tiyak na isa sa mga penomenong hindi matatapos kung wala tayong hakbang na gagawin para ito ay maiwasan.

Ang pangunahing umeepekto sa matinding init ay ang pagbabago sa klima, na nagmumula sa mga greenhouse gases (GHGs) sa atmospera. Upang maiwasan ang matinding init, kailangan nating gumawa ng mga hakbang upang maibsan ang epekto ng matinding init. May mga paraan na maaari nating gawin upang makatulong sa pagtigil o pagbawas ng epekto ng matinding init.

Ang unang paraan ay ang pag iwas sa pagpapalabas ng greenhouse gases. Kapag naglabas tayo ng malaking halaga ng greenhouse gases tulad ng carbon dioxide (CO2) sa ating kapaligiran, nagiging isang malaking handling ito sa natural na proseso ng pagpapalamig ng mundo.
