2023-2024 LEVEL I INFORMATION FORM Level I Excursions are those which take students to familiar settings within the local area for daytime activities which expose students to risks typically encountered in everyday living or while at school and which involve local transportation either by walking, subway, city bus, school bus, or taxi. Examples of Level I Excursions: trips to museums, local parks, a local store or neighbourhood, a library, an art studio, a concert hall, a theatre, another school, or athletic facility. Parental consent for Level I Excursions is given at the beginning of each school year.

Chris Deighton, Danielle Lemieux, Elise Currier + 3 chaperones Fort York 250 Fort York Blvd, Toronto, ON M5V 3K9 This trip extends learning regarding the life and experiences of soldiers and warfare in British North America before, during, and after the War of 1812. The morning session includes an introduction to the site where students learn about the fort’s place in the history of Toronto’s waterfront, followed by an active tour of the Soldiers’ Barracks, the Officers’ Barracks & Mess, and the Mess Kitchen. The afternoon session includes an exterior site walk, and two active mini-workshops that engage students in broader conversations around the War of 1812 and the Battle of York. The City of Toronto

Students must bring a packed lunch Students should wear York School athletic clothing. Students should bring a warm jacket, mitts, toque, and warm clothing. Cell phones are not permitted on the trip.
