by Rev. Enrique Sanchez, Pastor of Spanish Ministry
My name is Enrique Sanchez, and with great joy, I want to share with you something about our journey with God.
I was born in Camagüey, Cuba. There, I gave my life to Christ at the Methodist Church “El Tabernaculo de la Uncion,” where I had the privilege of serving God as a co-pastor, missionary and, for a year, a young adult leader. In 2006, I came to the United States and served the Lord in Miami as a youth pastor for seven years.
In 2014, I felt God’s call to come to Houston and start a new church. In 2017, with the help of God and the members who joined the work, we began what God was leading us to do. For a time, we lived in a small, rented space, ministering to the growing congregation. I firmly believe in God’s plan and desire in all things. I believe in divine intervention and connections, and this has been how God has worked in everything for us. That’s how, at the end of 2021, God connected us with Dr. Jeff Olive. In 2023, this connection led to a merger of our congregation with TWMC, and now we are The Woodlands en Español (ESP).
Located at the Recreation Center, ESP meets every Sunday at 10:00 a.m., and we have a huge celebration with our Lord. Our congregation, which began at The Woodlands Campus with an attendance of around 120125 people, is now averaging between 230-245 people each Sunday. We continue to grow, and to God be the glory.
I have been happily married for 22 years to Dania Sanchez, and we have two wonderful children, Ana and Benjamin. My wife and children are an immense support in the ministry; everyone serves God. We feel extremely privileged, happy and grateful to God for all the love, respect and kindness the leadership, staff and congregation of TWMC have shown us, welcoming us and making us part of the community.
We have great expectations for all that God has in store for TWMC, on all campuses and in all worship communities. We are convinced that this nation will experience a great revival and a spiritual awakening, and this church will not remain an observer, but will be part of this revival.
“These people who have been turning the world upside down have come here also.”
– Acts 17:6b (NRSVA)
A DAD’S “THANK YOU!”
by Rev. Chris McLain, Pastor of Caring and Adults 55+ Ministry
Eleven and a half years ago a young married pastor and his wife received a triple blessing: Their son had been born the previous June; their annual conference was sending the pastor to the Holy Land as a new ordinand; and the local congregation, unbeknownst to the couple, had gathered together enough to send the pastor’s wife on the trip as well.
You guessed it — I was that young pastor.
My wife, Skye, and I boarded a plane bound for the Holy Land. Skye was still nursing at that time and, being first-time parents, we had left a six-page instruction manual for the new grandparents to follow during our time away. I mean, it wasn’t like they had raised nine kids between the four of them.
We had a wonderful time experiencing the Scriptures come to life, gaining valuable insight into the culture and conflicts of the region. We brought back water from the Jordan River for our son’s baptism, and we purchased a necklace for his confirmation.
This month, our son will say “YES!” to following Jesus and be confirmed as a member of The Woodlands Methodist Church. Year after year, this congregation — as well as McGuire Methodist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana — has faithfully planned for future generations. What we know about the future is that soon it will become the present and, all too quickly, become the past.
Scripture reminds us: “‘In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’ I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2 NIV).

PASTOR-LED LENTEN STUDY
Rev. Chris McLain nourished us spiritually throughout the Lenten season with his powerful series, “It Is Written: Prophecies to the Promise.” We examined the Old Testament prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus during His life, gaining new insights and understanding.
MIDWEEK PRAYER INVITATION
We had a great turn out for our Lenten Lectio Divina Contemplative Prayer service each week during Lent. It was a blessing to be able to pause and reflect as we journeyed with Jesus to the cross through the Book of Matthew.
Although our Lenten prayer service has ended, our time in God’s presence has not. We invite you to join us each Wednesday at noon in Robb Chapel on The Woodlands Campus for our Midweek Prayer Room. This is a time for us to push pause in the middle of our week to worship God, hear His Word and be guided in Spirit-led prayer. We hope you’ll join us!
