Well, what can one say after this fabulous long weekend in Dunolly? It is impossible to put into words the feelings of excitement and enthusiasm and the positive vibes that were around everywhere you went! The events had been well-publicised on social media, in The Welcome Record and by word-of-mouth, so people came from far and wide. On the Saturday there was the opening of the fabulous ‘Postcards from Home’ exhibition at Puzzleflat Gallery, also the start of the ‘Cat out of the Bag’ event at Dunolly Arts Hub and the much-anticipated performance by Tenzin Choegyal at Dunolly Town Hall (see story on Page 5). All of these attracted visitors from out of town, including several from Melbourne. Many of the attendees of Tenzin’s concert took the opportunity to visit the Gallery beforehand and were full of praise for the fact that quality events such as these were being offered in Dunolly. The exhibition will continue at the Gallery each weekend until 17th July, so please make sure you take the opportunity to visit. I have personally attended and been part of many successful events at Dunolly Arts Hub in the past and once again this show did not disappoint. It is often hard to coax people away from Broadway, but it is always worthwhile when they do. Susan Day’s colourful array of bags, together with a variety of jewellery and gifts, all targeted at raising funds for cat rescue, were bright attractions on such a cold day. The warm and welcoming atmosphere in all the

Broadway shops and eateries, plus the ‘Open for Inspection’ on the old Williams’ Store, also brought many people out to experience more of what Dunolly has to offer. Sunday’s atmosphere in Broadway was buzzing even more, with the Dunolly Community Market, shops and businesses becoming a backdrop for the visit by our own Queen Victoria and her entourage. The Market BBQ, which was run by the Deledio Reserve Committee, together with the historic Town Hall, which had a record number of visitors, were drawcards in themselves. The vibe around town on Sunday was palpable and the air of frivolity, as many followed the Queen and took advantage of the many photo opportunities presented, made for a lively and entertaining day. Reports from many business owners confirmed that they had experienced a high volume of sales over the weekend. The Monday holiday continued in a similar vein, as many visitors stopped as they were heading through Dunolly on their way home from their long weekend. The highlight of the day was the inspirational performance in the Melba Room at Buckleys of Dunolly, by Ensemble Volante (see story on Page 4 ). Roll on many more weekends such as this, but in the meantime, I believe it has given many people a muchneeded boost to see the crowds return and witness everyone in town working together to continue to make Dunolly the ‘hub of the Universe!’ Jenny Scott
