WARRIOR IMPACT STORY Jason
Motivated Marine
Background Jason is a post- 9/11 infantry Marine sergeant that was honorably discharged after 5 years of service.
Challenge Upon his return to Atlanta, Jason found himself in unfamiliar territory, with few contacts and having to rebuild his life after military service. But like a good Marine, Jason was a self-starter and motivated to make things happen.
Solution By simply starting with a google search and submitting “Resources for veterans in the Atlanta area,” Jason found The Warrior Alliance and a vast pool of opportunity. Jason immediately completed the online registration process and was introduced to a TWA Navigator. Within days he was connected to Hire Heroes USA to get assistance with his resume and obtain full-time employment. It was clear to the Navigator that Jason was not just looking for a job- he was driven to get involved in the community, and was passionate about being engaged in activities with other local veterans. Several conversations later, Jason took the challenge and signed up for several Team RWB events and a Mission Continues community project. Not stopping there, TWA suggested he begin attending Vetlanta events to build his professional network and expand his contacts across the Atlanta veteran service organizations. And it’s worth noting, when the call to action went out for Warrior Coalition COVID-19 volunteers, this Marine stepped forward to be a food delivery driver for Meals on Wheels.
Impact Jason is a great example of why TWA exists. Give a motivated military veteran a structured platform to operate in, provide guidance to establish goals with a plan to execute, offer personal advocacy to remove barriers, and they will take action to be successful in their transition. We are honored to be a part of Jason’s success story, but more proud to be associated with an individual who lives the Warrior Committed ethos and pays it forward.
