WARRIOR IMPACT STORY Dan
Rediscovering his Warrior
Background Dan was medically retired from the Army after 16 years of service. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and deployed to Bosnia/Hercegovina in 1997, Yugoslavia in 2000, and 3 tours to Iraq in 2003/06/08. Dan is a single father to a 4 year old boy and was searching for a new start after becoming unemployed.
Solution Dan learned about The Warrior Alliance Operation Double Eagle program when he began the registration process for the Augusta Technical College’s Horticulture Science degree. He had missed the enrollment period and was guided by the Military Liaison to obtain his Golf Turf and Landscape Specialist Certificate through Operation Double Eagle. Dan joined the Warrior Cohort within 2 days and completed the 9-week course with high expectations for employment after meeting with several Employer Sponsors. Within a month of graduation, Dan was hired by Cleanwell Services, an Atlanta based company that provides services to maintain safe and healthy environments, specifically providing COVID-19 sanitizing and long-lasting facility disinfection. As a motivated Warrior, he stood out amongst a team of civilians that were sent to disinfect FEMA campsites in Lake Charles after a recent hurricane. His performance was immediately rewarded by Cleanwell with a promotion and salary increase to manage a major new client account and oversee the hiring and training of new employees.
Impact We use the phrase “Rediscover Your Warrior” when promoting the Operation Double Eagle program to veterans, National Guard/Reserves, and transitioning active-duty Service Members. Dan is a living example of that slogan. The Warrior Alliance provided him the platform and the tools to get him started, but Dan had the right attitude, training, and leadership to make it happen.
