Lions Present Training Mannequin to St John

Wanaka Upper Clutha Lions Club were delighted to o cially present a much needed and very useful Resusci Junior QCPR child sized training mannequin to Wanaka St John sta on Thursday 26th January at the Wanaka ambulance station. The ra e draw was won by Kaye Brake, whose prize was dinner for eight, cooked and served by celebrity chef Judith Cullen and wines donated by Maude Wines.

All available tickets were sold, which allowed not only the purchase of Carlitos, the mannequin, (little brother to Carlos the adult mannequin) but also the replacement of the aged and failing oven and microwave in the St John Sta and volunteers’ kitchen in the ambulance station.

Volunteer Dell Taylor thanked the Lions warmly, and explained the importance of the St John volunteers who support and work with the paid paramedics to keep this partly government funded organisation at the ready, round the clock for whatever situation comes their way. Carlitos, the junior mannequin will help enormously with ongoing training of all sta . Dell also emphasized the ongoing need for new volunteers, who would be given training in the skills needed for this rewarding vocation.
