ORIHUELA MAINTAINS TOP SPOT FOR BLUE FLAGS

With 11 Blue Flag beaches, Orihuela has once again become the second city in Spain with the most awards for bathing quality, and first in the Valencian Community, maintaining it’s position for the fourth consecutive year. Orihuela’s Councillor for Beaches, Antonio Sánchez, said that the Blue Flag is a badge that recognises meeting the highest quality for quality of water and coastal sand, in addition to public information and a first class rescue and lifeguard service. "With the work and involvement of the Orihuela town hall, we have once again achieved these awards that add so much value to our beaches and to our municipality as a national and international tourist destination," said Sánchez. The Orihuela beaches to which this distinction has been awarded are Punta Prima, Cala Bosque, La Caleta, Cala Capitán, Aguamarina, Campoamor, Barranco Rubio, Cala Estaca, Cala Mosca, Cala Cerrada and Mil Palmeras, along with the Campoamor marina, which has also achieved a blue flag. Torrevieja has also been awarded six blue flags at Cala Piteras, Los Náufragos, El Cura, Los Locos, Cabo Cervera and La Mata-Sur, each of which will once again fly the blue flag that
