WELCOME LETTER BY MR. DENNIS CHAPMAN - HEAD OF SCHOOL January 10, 2024 Dear Village School Parents, Thank you for taking the time to view the 6th Annual State of the School Address this evening. We have many reasons to be excited about the future of our beloved school. We have created this PDF of supplementary information if you would like to take a deeper look at the various areas of our operations. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

As I shared in my presentation, due to the outstanding support of our Board of Trustees, Administrative Team, Faculty, Staff, North Naples Church, parents, grandparents, and students, it has been a tremendous last six years at The Village School. And we are just getting started! We have experienced 58% growth in enrollment with a record 622 students enrolled, including full classes in PreK3, PreK4, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 8th grade! Our fundraising efforts have increased by 438%, and our operating budget has increased from $6.9 million to $13.5 million over the last six years. God continues to bless The Village School of Naples!

I continue to feel blessed to lead our school with its balanced approach to academics, arts, and athletics and, most importantly, with Christ as our moral compass. The desire to move our school forward and impact the lives of young people while preparing them for their bright futures is a calling that excites me every day. I cannot wait to see what God has in store for our school in the coming years.

As you heard in the State of the School Address, we continue to make great strides on our Five-Year Strategic Plan, Knight Vision: Full STREAM Ahead. The most effective Strategic Plans are where money and mission meet, and we are at a place where we need to double down on our investment in “People and Programs” at TVS if we want to see it continue to grow and thrive. We must ensure our school remains viable and sustainable for generations in the future. (continued)

Our Board of Trustees remains committed to retaining and attracting top-tier faculty to teach your students. Due to your continued support, we are able to begin implementing our Mission-Based Compensation Plan for our faculty this coming school year. The school has made significant strides in curriculum development and alignment as we continue strengthening our academic program. These continuous improvements align with our 2025 vision to be the educational leader in cultivating diverse and innovative students who discover their passions and purpose in a faith-based environment to reach their fullest potential.

While interest in a Village School education continues to be at an all-time high, our current families will always remain our top priority. Due to our continuous enrollment contract, you have already signed as a parent, you do not have to complete re-enrollment paperwork to secure your spot for the 2024-25 school year. A re-enrollment fee of $550, which will be deducted from your FACTS account on February 1, will finalize your enrollment for the 202425 school year. Unless you notify our Admissions Office in writing, we will consider your student(s) is re-enrolling for the 2024-25 school year after January 31, 2024.

MESSAGE FROM MR. THEO ETZEL - BOARD CHAIR Dear Families of TVS: Just as I did last year, I wanted to give you an update from the Board of Trustees and the oversight we have been doing since I wrote in 2023. As you are aware, we are responsible for the oversight of the financial health of the school, and this involves fully reviewing, on a timely basis, the income and expenses of the school. We must be attentive to the needs of the institution and its staff and to the parents and students who support and benefit from the excellent organization we have here.

We are very mindful that we must keep a balance of a tangible value for your dollars and the obligations we are tasked with to run an efficient school and be good stewards of the resources you have entrusted to us.

To that end, we find it necessary to implement a tuition increase again this year for many of the same reasons we needed to do so last year. The two primary reasons are the desire to keep a consistent staff for your students and our responsibilities as occupants of the church’s facilities and supplies. While North Naples Church certainly treats us as a mission and offers much support through buildings, shared staff, and underwriting expenses, we have been too burdensome for the good of the two intertwined institutions. We have made great strides to reaching self-sufficiency and are on a good trajectory, but we have a way to go in carrying our load.

Regarding our teachers and staff, we completed the year-long Mission-Based Compensation study that we embarked on last year. In that study, we discovered several areas we were deficient in when it came to compensation and benefits in the competitive environment in which we find ourselves. As much as we would like to correct all areas at once, we are taking appropriate and proportional steps to achieving our goals of being a favored place to work and teach in Naples. It is important to have a stable workforce in any organization, especially when it comes to a school and the familiarity with students and parents. As you may imagine, our largest use of funds, by far, is in compensation since schools are heavily weighted towards staffing requirements and our reduced student/teacher ratios. The Board has reauthorized the use and application of the Florida State Scholarships and School Choice Vouchers for the upcoming school year for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12, and I encourage everyone to apply for the grant. In coordination with the church, we have re-engaged SLAM Collaborative to look into the future needs of both the school and church and to address potential buildings and grounds enhancements that would benefit both entities. This will be an ongoing and evolving process over the foreseeable future, as both parties are growing and will need additional space and buildings. No timeframe has been set for any construction, but we need to start the process of identifying the possible solutions to the increasing demand for our facilities and campus.

I want to thank you personally and on behalf of the Board for your loyalty to TVS and its mission. You have shown this by re-enrolling your children in our programs and going above and beyond in your philanthropic support of the needed improvements in our programs, athletics, and facilities. It is through our collective efforts and financial stretching by the Board, staff, and families that we can focus on the future impact on the lives of students. NOTABLE HIGHLIGHTS Enrollment Growth and Demographics: Over the last six years, The Village School has experienced remarkable growth, with a 58% increase in enrollment.

The current enrollment stands at a record 622 students, including full classes in PreK3, PreK4, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 8th grade.

Fundraising efforts have seen a substantial 438% increase, contributing to the school's growth and success.

Fundraising for Innovation and Development: Innovative fundraising efforts, such as the Knights Gala: Imagine the Possibilities, aim to establish an endowment supporting innovative ideas and programs.

3 MAIN STRATEGIC GOALS Goal #1 - The Student Experience: The Village School’s student-centered STREAM approach prepares every graduate to be at the forefront of an ever-changing world. Initiatives as part of this strategy that we have accomplished are ensuring that our interdisciplinary academic program continues to prepare graduates to be accepted into their first choice college or university. We strive daily to ensure our students graduate with the skills defined by our TVS Portrait of a Graduate. We want our students to cross our graduation stage as Creative Critical Thinkers, Strategic Communicators, Empowered Lifelong Learners, Engaged Collaborators, and Global Citizens. Our record number 35 Seniors who are graduating this year are already receiving college acceptance letters and getting into their first choice consistently, not to mention the fact that they have brought our total college scholarship amount up to more than $3MM dollars!

Goal #2 - Standing out in a Crowded Marketplace: The Village School is the preferred educational choice for a broad range of students and families seeking a personalized PreK3-12th grade continuum of faith-based character education and exceptional academics. Our school offers a balanced approach to Academics, Arts, Athletics, and Christian Values in harmony with one another. Not one at the expense of another. Our students are the beneficiaries of an environment that encourages our students to participate in academics, arts, and athletics starting in lower school. All of this is in a Christian environment.

MRS. JANNA OUTLAW HEAD OF LOWER SCHOOL & EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION Foundation Building: Lower School (PK-5th) teachers foster individual gifts and talents, preparing students for middle school by honing in on discovered talents.

Curriculum Planning: Annual focus group meetings among core subject area faculty in Lower School set goals and determine curriculum needs, fostering collaborative planning.

Language Arts Program: Last year's goal involved researching and determining the best Language Arts Program, leading to the implementation of a new comprehensive reading program in grades K-5.

Social Studies Curriculum: Current research is underway to identify resource support needs for the Social Studies curriculum for the upcoming year.

Project-Based Learning: Emphasis on enhancing knowledge of Project Based Learning, clarifying that it involves long-term student-driven projects across various subject areas.

Family Engagement Events: Successfully hosted Literacy Knight in the fall, planning for a Math Knight in the Spring, with ongoing discussions for next year's events.

Spiritual Growth: Focus on spiritual development through weekly town hall meetings, chapel, and Bible lessons, with 4th and 5th graders learning from North Naples Church Children and Youth Pastors.

Jr. Kindergarten Program: Recognizing a need, adding a Jr. Kindergarten class with an enhanced curriculum for preschool students not meeting Kindergarten age cutoff.

Professional Development: Increased emphasis on professional development for teachers in project-based learning, differentiated instruction, and individual growth needs.

Uniform Changes: Planning uniform changes for Lower School/Middle School students with Tommy Hilfiger, providing better customer service, quality clothing, and decreased cost, with a transition year for current uniforms in the 24-25 school year. No changes for US dress code.

DR. JEFF CAVALLO - HEAD OF MIDDLE SCHOOL Middle School Vision: Offer a purposeful Middle School program, emphasizing a seamless transition from Lower School to Upper School.

Comprehensive Growth: Middle School focuses on nurturing academic, artistic, athletic, social/emotional, and spiritual growth, providing diverse opportunities for students' development.

Program Evaluation: The Middle School team actively evaluates the program to meet the unique needs of each student, utilizing tools such as SWOT analysis.

NIKKI SWEENEY HEAD OF UPPER SCHOOL, ASSISTANT HEAD OF SCHOOL Leadership Role: Nikki Sweeney, Head of Upper School and Assistant Head of School, shares insights into the rewarding journey of leading the Upper School team and academic program at TVS. Focus Areas: Emphasis on boosting student engagement, mental health, and academic achievement in the Upper School.

Curriculum Development: Highlights the importance of curriculum development as a key component of their efforts, expressing enjoyment in collaborating with the TVS team.

Daily Schedule: Collaborated with Independent School Management to create a common schedule for Middle and Upper School, aiming to strengthen the school culture and maintain stellar academic outcomes.

COACH ANDREW MIRANTI - ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Fall Achievements: Varsity Cross Country (XC) achieved a 3rd consecutive Florida State meet appearance, with all runners qualifying.

Seniors Bella Adams and Lauren Lappin earned spots on the NDN All Area XC team.

MS XC secured the GCAC conference win.

Successful seasons for Swim, Volleyball, and Varsity Golf teams, with Cara Hartfield qualifying for Regionals and MS golf ending with a 5-1 record.

Winter Highlights: Varsity basketball and soccer teams, along with MS teams, are in the PCAC conference title hunt.

New soccer coach, Coach Piotr Nowak, brings valuable experience to Boys Soccer.

Cheerleaders support Basketball and Soccer games with three teams contributing to greater school spirit.

MRS. LORI SMULL - ARTS COORDINATOR

Christmas Concert: K-12 Performing Artists, directed by Andrea DeLadurantey, Kellie Cullinan, and Bret Poulter, presented a spectacular performance at the annual Christmas concert, "Christmas Around the World."

Pre-schoolers also had their own ECE Christmas concert.

Veterans Day Celebration: Performing artists showcased their talents during the Veterans Day Celebration.

Master Class Series: Performing arts classes initiated a Master Class series, inviting local professional artists to work with students.

Visual Arts Activities: Hosted an art exhibition, "The Village Creates," featuring Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Grandparents, providing students with a glimpse into the creative endeavors of adults.

Submitted seven visual arts students to the Scholastics Art and Writing Awards, awaiting competition results.

Middle School Advanced Art students visited the Baker Museum to experience worldclass art.

Upcoming Spring Events: Two musicals are scheduled: Middle School's "Sister Act" and Upper School's "Pippin."

Continued Master classes in the theater, performances at Grandparents Day, and Spring Concerts for ECE, Lower School, and Middle/Upper School.

MS. CAMERON STEESE DIRECTOR OF ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT TVS Student Population By the Numbers: 54% growth in enrollment has been observed over the past five years.

The current enrollment stands at an impressive 622 students.

There is a projection to surpass 650 students for the upcoming 20242025 School Year, with a 60% increase in inquiries and a 40% rise in applications.

Technology System Upgrades: The Finalsite Enrollment program implemented last school year has enhanced the application process, providing a user-friendly interface and valuable data for marketing initiatives.

The integration of Blackbaud into our systems facilitates an easier enrollment process for families once they receive admission.

Data Gathering is Ongoing: Community surveys have proven instrumental in gathering feedback on various aspects such as academic programming, college counseling, athletics, performing arts, community service, and project-based learning.

The insights from these surveys have shaped the format of on-campus events to align with family interests.

Brand Imagery: Emphasizing the importance of consistent brand imagery. A unified visual identity is in the works to authentically reflect the school's core values and principles.

Enhanced Presence: Expanding visibility on various platforms, including social media and publications. An exciting addition to this is the launch of a podcast that promises to offer an insider's view of The Village School life.

Communication Strategy: Prioritizing effective communication by streamlining and consolidating channels. The aim is to ensure information flows seamlessly to the community.

VFAN Initiative: Introducing the Village Friends Alliance Network (VFAN), a strategic initiative. This involves partnering with local businesses, fostering B2B relationships, and collectively contributing to growth.

JANE BADGER - DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT Active Parent Involvement: Parents are highly engaged at TVS, contributing in various capacities such as room parents, sports event timekeepers, gala sponsors, and committee members for Grandparents' & Special Friends’ Day. Integral Role in TVS Experience: The connection between parents, teachers, peers, and the broader community strengthens the unique TVS Experience, setting the school apart.

Commitment to Volunteerism and Philanthropy: The commitment of parents to volunteerism and philanthropy is instrumental in the continuous growth and excellence of The Village School.

The Village Fund Growth: Over five years, The Village Fund, or the annual fund, has experienced significant growth from $90,000 to over $600,000 annually.

Village Fund Captains: The Advancement Department appointed parent volunteers as "Village Fund Captains" to boost community participation. Their efforts led to an increase from 32% to over 50% parent participation in the campaign.

Impact of Volunteers: The results showcase the impact and power of volunteers in driving positive outcomes for the school.

Annual Gala Success: With support from parents, Trustees, sponsors, and numerous volunteers, the annual gala successfully raised over $1 million last year.

Active Parent Donors: Parent engagement as active participants and donors has been a key factor in achieving these milestones, contributing significantly to the school's success.

MRS. KAREN MCAVOY - CFO/COO Gala Contributions: Funds raised at the Gala have been instrumental in addressing various needs, including lights for the track and field, an enhanced security camera system, an ADA-compliant portable multirestroom trailer, and a concession trailer.

Infrastructure Enhancements: Recent installations include bleachers at the track and collapsible risers in the Lauren Tayon Drama Studio, contributing to improved facilities and amenities.

Growth of The Village Fund: The continuous growth of The Village Fund is highlighted, emphasizing its crucial role in supporting the school's mission and ensuring financial stability each year.

VILLAGE SCHOOL OF NAPLES EARNS HIGHEST LEVEL OF DISTINCTION IN COLLEGE BOARD’S 2023 ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) HONOR ROLL NAPLES, FL. – The Village School of Naples, an independent school serving students in Preschool through 12th grade, announced it has been recognized by College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Program as a Platinum member of its 2023 AP Honor Roll. This designation places The Village School in an exclusive group of high schools – just 4,570 schools, or 30 percent of all private, public and charter high schools in the United States and Canada, are included on the 2023 AP School Honor Roll. And of those schools, just 886, or 6 percent of eligible high schools, achieved the top Platinum level, all through the strengths and preparedness of teachers and a rigorous and engaging academic program.

70+ classes, honors courses & electives across every US grade level 19 Advanced Placement Courses AP Capstone Diploma TVS juniors who took the baseline ACT in August 2023 showed an average 3.5 point increase compared with their official score from December.

That makes the average ACT score a 24.1

CLOSING SUMMARY REMARKS & LOOKING AT THE FUTURE College Preparation Success: The Village School has consistently excelled in preparing students for college, ensuring each student's acceptance into their first-choice institutions. Notably, this success has continued across growing class sizes, reflected in improving SAT, ACT, PSAT, and PACT scores.

Enrollment Expansion: Anticipating significant growth, the school plans to welcome 50 freshmen and over 150 upper school students in the next academic year. These students will have access to a comprehensive selection of 20 Advanced Placement courses.

Academic Achievements: Recognized as an AP Platinum Honor School by the College Board, The Village School stands out as one of only two high schools in Collier County to receive this prestigious recognition.

Innovative Programs: The launch of an upper school job shadowing and internship program, a strategic initiative aligned with the school's plan, enhances students' educational experiences with real-world exposure. Talent Utilization: Leverage your skills and passions to add value to the school. Sports enthusiasts can volunteer with the Athletic Department, while those with a flair for decoration can assist during Arts Month in May. Treasure Support: Consider contributing to The Village Fund, vital for the school's development efforts. Over 50% of the community has already made a gift, demonstrating gratitude for their valuable contributions.

Tentacles Outreach: Extend your influence to connect the school with individuals in the community who may not be acquainted with The Village School. Facilitate growth by introducing the school to your network.
