I am writing to you to make your readers aware that the City of Armadale is about to issue their rate notices for this financial year. It will come as a nasty shock to many that some City of Armadale ratepayers will be expected to pay a lot more this year. Most properties are rated under GRV (Gross Rental Value), which is a common method in which to distribute rates, based on a property’s ability to draw rental income. The Council has, under the Local Government Act, decided to implement what is known as “differential rating”, meaning different rates can be applied to different properties, based on the properties’ certain attributes. The particular attribute that the Council has decided to target (again) this year is vacant land. On Monday the 13th
of August, the Council for the City Armadale met to adopt the 2013 Annual Budget. Tanking There’s a word in the Australian sporting dictionary that’s been about a few years now, and is starting to get attention again due to a recent rise in occurrences of it. “Tanking”, as it’s known, usually means “to deliberately play at less than your best”, often in order to get a far better draft pick. It’s an example of disgraceful sportsmanship, and is indeed disappointing. Recent displays of “tanking” were seen at the mighty Olympic Games, in which the badminton mob deliberately played so they could get an easy transfer and play the hot spot team later. I had to laugh as I saw players hitting the shuttle cock into their own teammates. In hockey as well, certain teams played only to draw so they could grab a better final round position. Speaking of tanks, I noticed a few days ago whilst walking to my holy spot that the big concrete water tank was gone. There were hoon marks on the oval, but who knows, it may have been taken by aliens. Benjamin Seabrook.

level, four students from Kofukan Karate Australia (Roleystone dojo) were selected for the WA State Team and competed at the Australian Karate Championships in Melbourne from the 3rd to 5th August. This is the highest level of competition in Australia and Kaitlin Brindley, Cameron Carling, Gabby Purser and Brooke Williams all put in a fantastic effort. Brooke Williams recalls of their experience: Friday (3rd August) brought the first day of competition and Gabby was the first one up. Saturday was the busiest day, with Kaitlin, Cameron and Brooke all taking to the mat. Sunday brought the Open divisions and the Team events. Kaitlin was selected to fight in the team event and received a team bronze medal. Overall, all of us had a wonderful experience and made a bunch of new friends. We all return with great exposure to National Competition and you never know, we all may be in Hobart next year for the 2013 AKF Nationals. Kaitlin Brindley added: It was an awesome experience. The atmosphere of being there was simply wonderful and has motivated me to try again for next year. I would like to thank everyone who helped us get there this year. It was one of the most exciting and gratifying experiences I have ever had and I hope we can pass on everything we learnt and achieved to anyone else wanting to try. Sensei Brian Chambers of Kofukan Karate (Kalgoorlie dojo) was at the event in his capacity as State AKF kumite and kata referee and spoke glowingly of the crew’s efforts, noting that ‘This kind of experience will take them both to the next level in their Karate and coaching of others’. Heartfelt thanks are due to everyone involved in the fundraising to help get the crew to Melbourne, including the Henderson family, Kate McWalter and her bootcamp team and Darren and Stacy Brooke, in addition to a substantial contribution from Kofukan Karate Australia. The club has also received a massive boost by securing a major sponsorship from Sam Saffioti and his team at Roleystone Real Estate. A grant of $1,200 for training equipment has also been gratefully received from Telstra’s Kids Fund Grant Committee, organised by Ben’s Dad, Tim Clarke. To cap it all off, our dojo won a potentially lifesaving defibrillator machine worth $2,500 from “Defib Your Club For Life” - thanks

The Roleystone Tigers celebrated the 10th anniversary of the 2002 back-to-back premiership with two wins in front of a home crowd and players from the premiership side. The 2002 Captain Simon Adamkiewicz was on hand to give the boys a few playing tips and relive the glory of winning a premiership. Simon presented a speech recalling the players from the premiership team and provided a commentary about the game as if it happened yesterday. Reserves came into the game hot favourites against a struggling Bayswater side, and the game went to script with a strong 15 goal win. It was great to see Anthony Foulds and Luke Snadden post their first majors for the year! It was a strong game played by all the boys, with Isaac Hayhurst and Matt Bendall the best players. In the league game, the Tigers were pushed hard by Bayswater. The annual Anton Wichems medal, which signifies sportsmanship and courage, was awarded to Glen Weaver. Glen played an outstanding game of football, and all voters agreed that as a player who always puts his body on the line, he was a worthy recipient. The final game of the season will be against Nollamara, and the reserves team is still hanging in with a chance at the finals after this week’s win. Jocelyn Jones.

The return to school was made even more exciting for our year 5 classes last Friday when they were given the opportunity to take part in the Channel 9 Junior Weather Watch program. Well known weather presenter Angela Tsun landed on our school oval in the Channel 9 chopper, her cameraman Glen in tow, to introduce our year 5 students to the program. Under the guidance of Mr Pheasant, film and TV students took the opportunity to shoot a segment for our next college podcast. The year 5 students monitored our weather from the 5th to the 14th of August, and got to see their readings broadcasted on the weather segment of the Channel Nine news. In central Roleystone, the two main gum trees are the Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) and the Marri or Red gum (Corymbia calophylla). The easiest way to tell them apart is the size of their honkey nuts – Marri nuts are the size of a twenty or fifty cent piece coin, whereas the Jarrah nuts are more like the size of a fingernail. The Jarrah also has strips of bark where the Marri has blobs of red sap. Throughout some valleys are the Yarri’s or Swan River Blackbutts (Eucalyptus patens), which are very similar to the Jarrah in physical attributes, such as bark and nuts. Closer to the scarp are the Wandoo (Eucalyptus wandoo) with the white bark, seen on Mills Road East. Of these, only the Jarrah suffers from dieback root rot, thanks to water mould (Phytophthora cinnamomi). The Marri suffers from stem rot, resulting from a specific fungus (Quambalaria coyrecup). The only known treatment for the diseased stem/ branch rot is to cut it out, which will prevent it spreading to neighbouring healthy trees. Pruning large limbs from trees is best left to the professionals, mostly for safety reasons, but also because the tree loppers are usually trained in how best to prune trees and improve tree health. Gum trees can have their lower limbs pruned, creating a “vertical firebreak” by fire safety. If you intend to do it yourself, make sure you don’t remove the crown top, since it weakens the tree and can create future problems. Other smaller trees of Roleystone include the Bull Banksia (Banksia grandis), the Jarrah Forest Sheoak (Allocasuarina fraseriana) and the “Snotty gobbles”, which comes with thin leaves and black paperbark (Persoonia longifolia) or with round leaves and smooth bark (Persoonia elliptica). Budget The budget has finally been passed, with the most notable highlights including replacement of the irrigation system at Cross Park, and the commencement of a “Bushcare Crew”, which is certainly required for those regions unfortunate enough to be without dedicated volunteers. The replaced irrigation system will hopefully improve the coverage & efficiency of watering at the park, although it will not affect the drainage.
Cross Park-Springdale Master Planning Update Workshops have been held with City Officers, consultants and stakeholders such as local sports club members and representatives of the Family Centre Management and Men’s Shed/Community Garden. It was highlighted that there are unlikely to be sudden radical changes to the building infrastructure, as this would require funds that are currently not forecast in the current 15 year budget. Suggested improvements included heating/cooling and acoustics for the Roleystone Hall, cooling and ventilation for Springdale, formalisation of both Cross Park and Springdale carparks, improvements to northern ball courts, accommodation/ storage for the Netball club, and accommodation of the Men’s Shed/Community Garden. Footpath Plan Stage 2 Footpaths to be included in “Stage 2” (over the next decade) have been endorsed, but it’s not yet been decided which are more urgently required, for safety or other factors. Footpaths for Roleystone include (in no particular order) the completion of Westbourne Road, George Road, Soldiers Road from Brookton to the River, Brookton Highway between Soldiers and Croyden, Andreas Road, Northward Road, Orchid Drive, Michael Road, Wygonda Road, Garland Road, Windsor Avenue, Russelia Way, Urch Road South, Chevin between Rubida Caroline Wielinga. and Holden, as well as Peet Road North. me to fully comprehend the complexity and the details of how it all works, because it is completely different to the usual Western veterinary medicine. Fortunately, the information can be learned in “baby step” modules, so practical experience will develop as the course proceeds. My first patient after the course finished was a lovely 13 year old long-haired German Shepherd in Roleystone, a reminder that in practice, the variation in animal patients is diverse. The long hair made it quite hard to find the normal anatomical points, and to keep track of the needles that I had placed, especially in comparison to the sleek greyhound that I had been working with at Murdoch University. Vandalism In Roleystone
Roleystone is a small community, so to have a select few go around doing senseless acts of vandalism makes one wonder what is happening to our society. Don’t these people realise it is a part of their community? If it is out of boredom, why can’t they do something more constructive than destructive? I have only been in Roleystone for a few months, and found most people to be delightful and so friendly. It’s a shame to come to work and find a brick has been thrown through the front window of the shop for no apparent reason. Not only did the front window of my shop get broken, but I’ve been told by people passing by that some windows in the Community Centre were broken as well. It makes me wonder if these ratbags would appreciate having their hardearned possessions broken or stolen. I bet they wouldn’t, so why do it to other people? These people know who they are, and need to grow up and take responsibility for their actions. I don’t think their parents would be too proud of them if they knew what they are doing to the community. We all need to take a stand against these senseless acts of vandalism in the community, and make the vandals pay for the damages.

I have just spent 4 very long days at Murdoch University Veterinary School with 15 other veterinarians from around Australia and overseas, learning more about acupuncture as a treatment for cats and dogs. The course was conducted by the Chi Institute Australia, which has been recently formed as an extension of the Chi Institutes in Florida and Beijing. Dr Bruce Ferguson was the main instructor for the course, and he was assisted by 3 veterinary acupuncturists. I have been very fortunate to be included in Dr Bruce’s annual seminars at Murdoch University Vet School for the last 3 years. These awesome opportunities are furthering my interest and my knowledge of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, a discipline which includes acupuncture and herbal medicine, as well as food therapy and Tui Na (Chinese massage). The whole subject is extensive, so it will take a long time for

Over the past decade, shows such as Australian Idol, The Voice, Australia’s Got Talent, The X Factor and Popstars have all produced a variety of winners who have gone on to stardom, to the point that there is suspicion of an over-abundance of reality show singers. Breeahn Jones, a former performer from the Roleystone Theatre, is taking to the stage this August and September, in the world premiere of a musical which satirically explores such reality show contestants. Written by her brother Tyler Jones and musical director Robert Wood, “Falling To The Top” is described as a “fast and funny look at fame, fortune and the lack of talent required to make it to number one”. The story follows four rejected reality television contestants who form The Divalettes, a sassy girl group. Salli-Ann, Tonya, FonDue and Feliciabel all experience 15 minutes of fame on the TV show Pop Rocket, and join forces to increase their chances of success. Breeahn plays FonDue, a character who will do anything to be famous. “She assumes the role of leader of The Divalettes, because she’s driven, talented and won’t let anyone stand between her and success, including her best friend,” she said. “She soon realises, though, that money and fame may not be worth the sacrifices she has to make.” Involved in the performing arts since primary school, Jones has appeared with the Old Mill, Stirling, Roleystone, Limelight, Marloo, Kwinana and Melville Theatres, the MS Society, Playlovers and the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of WA in numerous productions, including “Jonah”, “Falsettos”, “Spamalot” and “Don’s Party”. She was nominated for Best Female Musical Theatre Performer at the 2009 Finley Awards, for her role
in “Ruthless”, and scored a 2011 Plover Award for Most Successful Actress as Daisy Hilton in the musical “Side Show”. “It’s not often you get the opportunity to create a role in an original musical, especially in Perth, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to do this show.” Breeahn says her role in “Falling To The Top” requires a lot of vocal stamina. “Creating a role is extremely difficult, because you have no previous soundtrack to compare your performance to and there is a lot of material to learn,” she said. Her brother Tyler admits “Falling To The Top” has a strong satiric edge, and says there are more than a few jabs at the pop music industry – but all in good, light-hearted fun. “The Divalettes were partly inspired by The Young Divas,” he said. “I remember reading an article suggesting that reality shows had so overpopulated the music industry that solo artists were forced to band together in a group just to survive. It seemed like such a ridiculous, dramatic premise; popstars forming packs to hunt for success.” “Falling To The Top” debuts at the Playlovers Theatre at 8:00pm on August 24th, 25th, 31st, September 1st, 7th and 8th, with a 2:00pm matinee on September 2nd. In preparation for the fiercest day of rivalry in WA, the Western Derby, the students of Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School walked through the school gates in their favourite footy team colours. On the 2nd of August, the colours of the Eagles and Dockers were well represented by the students, who dressed in casual clothes to support Derby Day. The beautiful school grounds also got a makeover for the occasion, with the parent group decorating the walkways with streamers, balloons, banners and posters supporting both teams. Students were treated to a visit by everyone’s favourite mascot Rick The Rock Eagle, as well as an Eagles Rock My School team member. Together they spoke to the students about respect and values, played fun games with the kids, and
gave out lots of great prizes. To conclude the fun-filled day, the school sports teacher Miss Shaw coordinated a fantastic tabloid sports carnival, which took place in the beautiful surrounds of the school. Just as the rain passed through and the sun came out, the students and staff had a wonderful afternoon participating in the highly entertaining activities that centred on developing football skills.

Friday the 31st of July was an exciting day for the Year 5 and Year 6 students of Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School in Kelmscott. They headed off on a bus to perform at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre for the Primary Curriculum Conference, a conference attended by primary school teachers in Catholic Education from all over Western Australia. Music specialist Diana Newman said that it was a real honour for the students to be invited to perform to entertain the delegates. An interesting variety of items were presented by the students, including the school’s Flute Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, Boys Choir, Girls Choir and a larger combined choir. A feature of the presentation was the performance of the Year Six students playing percussion pieces on plastic buckets and large empty beetroot cans. The students are to be congratulated for being such fine ambassadors for the school.

Roars of excitement were heard as Pre-Primary students and teachers from Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School exited the school gate on Monday 13th of August. The children experienced their very own Scitech adventure, in which they expanded their understanding of content taught in the classroom on dinosaurs as well as literacy skills. Students took part in a puppet show called Dinoshadows, where shadow puppets demonstrated the mystery of dinosaurs, and later explored Discoverland, where they learned about different types of simple machinery. To finish off the fabulous day, students visited the Dinosaur Invasion area, where they stepped into the shoes of a palaeontologist, saw incredible animatronic dinosaurs, examined fossils and played with interactive displays. The children, staff and wonderful parent helpers all agreed they had a dino-tastic time.

This year I was granted the wonderful opportunity of going on a once in a lifetime adventurous journey aboard the Leeuwin II, a traditional square-rigged tall sailing ship. On my week aboard the Leeuwin, I learnt so much and made some great friends, friends I plan to keep for life. My trip on board the Leeuwin II, which went from Monkey Mia down all the way to Fremantle, was made possible by FESA, the Roleystone Bush Fire Brigade and their fantastic cadet system. I am truly thankful for their generosity in sponsoring my journey, and for the cadet leaders choosing me to go. Along with many other cadet students from different systems around WA, I learned how to sail onboard the ship as a team. Under the helpful supervision of the permanent and volunteer crew, we also learnt how to handle sails, maintain and navigate the ship. Sailing on through the night and learning how to live the life of a true sailor was such a special experience. This trip has inspired me to go for my goals and achieve more, and has taught me that any adventure is possible and within reach if you put your mind to it.

Inspiring, Life changing... an amazing adventure
I’ve also learned that working as a team can be far more rewarding, and brings better results in the end. To feel the sway and movement of clear and peaceful water below you, with what seems like very little holding you up on the surface, in the middle of nowhere, creates such an amazing sense of calm and oneness with nature. To feel weightless, and to look out on an endless horizon on top of the main mast is truly breathtaking beautiful. I now have experiences that I never would have thought I could have had, and unforgettable memories to remind me of my adventures. I have just received a letter from the Leeuwin officials, inviting me back with a rating to be cook’s mate, so I am pleased to be returning aboard the Leeuwin II very soon as a volunteer, to gain more experience and loads of new adventures. Starting from the 2nd of June 2012, I was fortunate enough to go sailing on the Leeuwin for 9 days. I would like to say a big thank you to the Roleystone Fire Brigade for selecting me for this voyage. This experience, in which I learned the names of ropes, sails and the meaning of each command, was probably the best I’ve ever had. Throughout the trip on the Leeuwin, I met a lot of new people who were all very nice. The adventure began when we were taken out by a cruise boat to board the sail boat at about 6:30pm. We started sailing the next morning from Monkey Mia down to Fremantle. By the third day, the rough seas had everyone feeling sick, but we kept going. I got to steer the ship that day, and got to use command orders in order to swap over with other crew members. Every day we had to do a 2 to 4 hour long watch, in which we would control the helm and go on bow watch. On this voyage, we broke the record for sailing the fastest time from Monkey Mia to Fremantle without stopping in 24 hours. We got to Fremantle really early, so we just anchored in front of Garden Island. The next day after anchoring, we intended to go ashore, but the sea was too rough for us to row out on the life boats. The next day, we got to control the ship but we didn’t really get anywhere. On day 9, we raised the anchor and sailed back to
Fremantle Port to meet our parents and family. There were 41 people from various cadet units on the voyage. In addition to meeting these new people, the highlight of this trip for me would have been climbing up the masts. Shanae Jarvis.

Roleybushcare Gets Dieback update Twelve members from Roleybushcare recently attended the annual Dieback Information Group conference in Kalamunda, an event described by Roleybushcare Chair, Ian Colquhoun, as “a great opportunity to get an update on new dieback research and to find out more about dieback management in other parts of the country”. A presentation from a Murdoch University post graduate student showed that the dieback organism (Phytophthora Cinnamomi) is able to survive in the roots of tiny annual plants and has 4 different methods of reproducing in those roots. Plant Pathology Professor at Murdoch University, Giles Hardy, told the 220 strong audience that these findings will result in the rewriting of text books to include this new information on an organism that is present on all continents of the world, apart from Antarctica. The audience was also told about the dieback organism being present in many areas of the Blue Mountains near Sydney, but were reassured that it isn’t killing many plants. The Roleybushcare members agreed that it was an informative and enjoyable conference, made all the better because they were able to mix with many like-minded environmental enthusiasts. Ian Colquhoun.

AMAZING COMMITMENT TO OUR LAND With National Landcare Week being celebrated in September, it is an ideal opportunity to encourage the community to get involved in “Caring for our Country” through the many community groups such as Roleybushcare, Armadale Gosnells Landcare, SERCUL, and other wetland or Rivercare groups. Join the ranks of bushranger cadets and hardworking individual landowners who do amazing work to repair and manage our natural environment. Most of these groups form partnership with their local governments, Swan River Trust or the Department of Environment, who are often the landowners (particularly in the metro area) putting in funds and other forms of support, while most of the groups also seek outside funding to make sure they have enough money to carry out what they believe is necessary. The results being achieved are amazing. The volunteer hours being given are staggering, and the number of plants and trees that have been planted for restoration number numbers in the millions. These groups not only undertake the on-ground work which (includes weeding and erosion preventions works), but often become involved with educating others on the environmental needs. Many also advocate

Canning MHR Don Randall says although he welcomes the announcement by the state’s Minister for Child Protection, Robyn McSweeney, committing more than $127,000 in funding for the Wanslea Family Services Board, he would still like to see some financial assistance going straight into the pockets of grandparent carers. “This is really just a crumb off the table which will go to support services for grandparent carers – not direct financial assistance for the grandparent carers themselves,” Mr Randall said. “I am not knocking the extra funding for these helpful and important services, but there is still more work to be done and more room for improvement to ensure that these grandparent carers are better supported through direct financial help. “For example, what about the grandparent carers that do not go to Wanslea’s support groups or aren’t registered with them?” Mr Randall said he encouraged any grandparent carers who weren’t yet registered with Wanslea to do so. Some of our Little League players have been attending a High Performance and Winter program in Victoria Park over the past few Sundays. They have received specialist training from State League and ex-professionals, an experience which the kids have gained a lot from. Take a walk through Armadale this spring 2.5km trail to a challenging 6km hike led by local bushwalk enthusiasts. Armadale Mayor, Henry Zelones said the walks are a popular series that have been showcasing Armadale’s breathtaking landscape for more than a decade. “Spring Bushwalks are a great way for the community to explore the natural sites of the Armadale area. The trails offer a chance to see spectacular views, beautiful wildflowers and some of our local animals” said Cr Zelones. Researchers believe that chronic inflammation in the body contributes to many severe diseases that are prevalent in today’s society. Most of us recognise inflammation through the pain we suffer. Causes of inflammation include diet, stress, being overweight, infection and toxins. Arthritis is a name for a group of conditions affecting the joints, and since there are more than 100 different forms of arthritis, it is highly prevalent. In fact, in Australia alone, nearly one in five people has arthritis. The most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout. Anyone can get arthritis, including children, and it will affect people in different ways, since each arthritis type has specific symptoms. The common symptoms are include pain, swelling in joints, redness and/or warmth in joints, stiffness or reduced movement in joints, and general symptoms such as fatigue or feeling unwell. The pain management protocols used in the treatment of arthritis may also assist those suffering from soft tissue trauma, such as sprains, strains, bruising and overuse. From 6:00pm to 7:00pm on the 17th of September, there will be a free workshop in which you can find out about pain management techniques for arthritis, gout and soft tissue injuries. Meditation at Genesis in the Hills Meditation classes will be commencing at Genesis in the Hills on Monday the 27th of August from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Facilitated by Eugene & Raje, the classes will make a real difference to the quality of your life. Whilst many people say they find it hard to switch off their thoughts in their first meditation class, what they have to understand is that meditation is really about providing an opportunity to quieten the mind, and to be in the present moment, which creates a mental space for new creative thoughts and ideas. We may have very brief moments of “no mind” through practice, but it’s unrealistic to expect yourself to completely switch off your mind. What we are actually practicing is mindfulness anyway. Our minds are constantly creating, but most of the time we aren’t conscious of what they are creating. Very often we are not as in control of our thoughts as we think. Meditation helps us to be more conscious of the “monkey mind”, giving us an opportunity to witness the inner workings of our own minds, and the kind of thoughts that circulate there. With this new consciousness we can begin to choose more positive ways of thinking, by interrupting the constant flow of persistent negativity and mindless dramas that often take up valuable time, space and energy. Through meditation, we can become more peaceful, mindful and aware, not only of our thoughts, but of our bodies and emotions as well. When we begin to see the interplay of these different aspects of ourselves, we find a new awareness, which we can use to take more control and responsibility for ourselves, essentially liberating us from anxieties and fears. In addition to the spiritual and personal benefits, meditation is also very good for your physical well-being. It not only quietens the mind and expands awareness, but also deeply relaxes the body, lowers blood pressure, relieves stress and depression, creates mental clarity, strengthens the immune system, and improves memory. Eugene has been working as a transpersonal counsellor, art therapist, artist and group facilitator for over 15 years. Former Roleystone Theatre performer Cicely Binford is appearing in The Vagina Monologues this August and September in what’s become a worldwide theatrical phenomenon. Eve Ensler’s famed stage production is a searingly funny, sometimes shocking, moving and unashamedly honest exploration of what’s “down there”. Created from hundreds of interviews with women from all walks of life, Ensler gives them a space to tell stories about their rarely-shared vagina experiences. Binford plays two main characters with very different stories and personalities – a sex worker and a woman with a child-like quality. “The sex worker services women and talks about she got into her line of work, while my other character describes the process of how she named her vagina,” she said. “This is such a well-known, widely-seen piece of artistic work, and I was interested in the format of delivering monologues. “As a feminist, I appreciate a forum where women are able to share in expressing themselves openly about their biology, emotions and sexuality. It’s not just about being titillating or shocking, it’s about being thoughtprovoking and challenging. These are important matters and theatre has a duty to engage its audience in them from time to time.” Binford has been involved in theatre since she was a teenager growing up in Texas (she has a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Texas Woman’s University), and has previously performed in shows such as “Lily Dale”, “The Women”,” Red, Hot and Cole”, “The Three Sisters”, “Into the Woods” and “Clue The Musical”. Since moving to Perth in 2007, she has performed with the Old Mill, Playlovers, Limelight, Roleystone and Blak Yak Theatres in “Arsenic and Old Lace”, “Company”, “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”, “Boston

Daily fitness for Years 1 to 5 was conducted recently by Mr Thatcher, and judging by all the smiles, the students loved it! Mr Thatcher ran it as an aerobics session with house points and Principals stickers awarded for effort and enthusiasm. Mrs Hudman from the front office at the Roleystone Community College is once again collecting 5¢ coins to donate to the Autism Association. Many families are affected or are aware of somebody that has Autism. The more 5¢ coins collected, the more children we will be able to help attend a camp. We collected over 7000 coins last year, and we’ve had a small trickle come in so far this year, so keep rummaging around at home or in the car to find those coins. Even ask your family and friends to drop them in at the front office. Thank you for your support to this wonderful cause.
