Build valuable hands-on training in cutting-edge molecular biology techniques, with lectures exploring the past, present, and future of biology technologies, experimental design and implementation, and analysis and management of data. Give your students an exceptional start to their post-grad career in biology.

Field and field lab collection and preservation methods for accurate, sterile samples.
■ Overview of DNA extraction and isolation techniques and methods.
■ Discussion of experimental design, workflows, and wet lab procedures.
■ DNA amplification and macromolecular analysis techniques (PCR and gel electrophoresis)-DNA sequencing history and applications, 1st-3rd generation sequencers.
■ Bioinformatics lecture, part I. genome assembly from sequencing reads (genome assembly pipeline).

With approximately 35,000 students, Humboldt University offers a wide variety of specializations in humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Understand the applications of thermodynamics and engineering by experiencing them at a waste incineration plant, a hydro-power plant, even an automobile manufacturing facility. Thermodynamics is everywhere, the rules of which govern modern engineering, industry, and development and testing of products and machinery. Inspire your students to apply theories of heat and energy transfer to understand how to create practical solutions to technical problems through site visits, lectures, and interviews with professionals.

Know as Hundertwasser’s Masterpiece is a municipal incinerator and a work of art. The environmentally friendly heating produced at Spittelau is enough to heat more than 60,000 households in Vienna in a year.
BMW’s largest engine plant worldwide. An engine rolls off the assembly line on average every 13 seconds – with a total of around 530,000 diesel and 700,000 petrol engines produced annually (*2019). The plant is responsible for the development of all BMW and MINI diesel engines.
Where engineers develop and assemble automobiles for other companies on a contractual basis. It is the largest contract manufacturer for automobiles worldwide.

Universität Wien
Our partner university and our IES Abroad Vienna Center collaborated to craft this program. Enrolling approximately 90,000 students, Universität Wien offers a wide variety of courses in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The university boasts recognized academic strengths in Germanic studies, political science, and theology. Founded in 1365, Universität Wien is one of the oldest universities in Europe.
